Hard to know who will be available, so best guesses I suppose

In: Witherden, Yeo, Clark, Rioli, Shuey, Strnadica/Williams
Out: Rotham (susp), West (inj), Florenca (released), Waterman (susp), Winder, Edwards

Backs: Barrass, Gov, Hurn, Witherden, Duggan, Foley, Jones
Mids: Gaff, Naish, Kelly, Yeo, Redden, Clark
Rucks: Strnadica/Williams, Jamieson
Forwards: Kennedy, Darling, Ryan, Cripps, Rioli, SPS, Shuey
Sub: Winder
Emergency: Dixon, Edwards, Hough

Rotham and Waterman suspended, hope they enjoyed the Hip-E, hope they enjoy East Freo Oval.

Jamieson to get another run, paired whichever of Strnadica and Williams is right to go.

Winder unlucky.

Is West actually injured?

Witherden and Yeo in, wouldn’t be rushing back the others.

Rotham and Waterman out

Clark plays if available. SPS plays if available.

I know they’ll play Shuey, but they need to stick him at HFF for periods of time and give SPS/Jones extended midfield minutes.

Elliot Yeo with the fight of Connor West would be a huge boost, please show up xoxo

Ins: Angry Yeo.

Someone flick his ear all week, call him yo-yo, crap on his car, something!

Out Cripps (forever) H Edwards Rotham Florenca.
In Rioli Clarke Dixon Witherden

Id like them to resist the urge to bring Yeo, Shuey back but they wont

I want to see us set some records.

I want to see the impossible.

I want us, with a list size of 42 players (+ 2 x Cat B rookies), use 50 players over the season. Even better, 60.

I want WAFL player after WAFL player.

This season is a comedy bust. If we're not injured (worst list ever - by ANY club), we're Covid protocoling or playing while Covid recovering. Even if fit we're going out on the town celebrating losing by barely 100 points and catching Covid.
It doesn't matter if we're unfit, recovering from Covid and have the endurance of the average care home resident, not up to AFL (or even WAFL) standard, or just don't give a sh**, if you can pull on a jumper and walk onto the ground, you'll get a game.

This week.
If you're recovering from Covid and can barely run a lap of Lathlain, YOU ARE NOT FIT. You should not get a game. You should stay home with a nice Lemsip.
If you have a niggle, no matter how minor, YOU ARE NOT FIT. Stay at home. Use the Dencorub (other brands are available) and get yourself better for 2023.

It actually hasn't been helping us playing unfit, under prepared, unready guys who have spent weeks or months on the sidelines due to injuries or Covid. Just makes injury recurrence or relapse more likely.

If it means we end up with a core of AFL players and a bunch of WAFL top ups, so be it.

Nah Yeo will make our midfield worse by making it slower. Yeo and Shuey can't play midfield anymore

If we are going to have Yeo in the centre we need to drop Reddon.

Need to inject pace in the midfield.
Jones stays in the middle for the rest of the year for me. Kelly Jones West one of Reddon Yeo Shuey in the middle. Clark also would probally do a better job in the centre then Reddon and Yeo.

With Naish and Gaff on the wings.

I've come to the realisation that we don't need 2 of Reddon Yeo and Shuey.

Reddon needs the tap on the shoulder and told to play WAFL for remaining games or just retire immediately.

Shuey can play forward instead of Cripps then retire at season end
Yeo can play back pocket instead of Foley who I don't rate as he is just slow for a half backer. Need quick bursting half back flankers. Not even sure Yeo can play half back flank anymore. How far they have fallen as players.

Outs: obviously the night clubbers rotham and waterman, west injured, cripps, SPS if he is going to play as a forward (he’s an on baller and nothing else)

Ins: yeo, witherden, Clark, hough, L.Edwards if fit, J.Williams.

That’s a tall team but our only way of moving the ball and scoring is via marking, and the small team can’t defend so no worse off.

What is it going to take to get this at some stage during a team announcement this season?

Cripps (Omitted)

We need to start moving on from him. Blinker wearing, selfish momentum killer.
He was horrendous. Winder wasn't brilliant by any standard but he warmed up to it in the 2nd half and brought a lot more than Cripps. Would rather see Cripps go out when Rioli is back and Winder stays and gets a fair crack at it.

Yeo still has value and needs to get fit....play him from half back for the next 5 weeks with bursts in the midfield and then put him in the middle back half of the season when his fitness should be back

Shuey.......well get on the field for a start...same as Yeo put play him up forward with stints in the middle. Really think he cannot play midfield anymore with his body.....needs to give up the captaincy for the good of the club and get his body right for just playing football

I want Clark in the middle for the rest of the year.. Just keep pumping games into him

Agree Naish Gaff on the wings

Pace in the midfield atm we just do not have.... Chesser injured along with Young edwards...need to find something in the draft

reckon its a positive thing with the nightclub..

Give's the club the opportunity to get rid of three consistent underachievers for the club in Nelson Watermen Rotham

Send them back the WAFL and tell them they are playing for there careers

Lets assume for a moment that Yeo isn't fully fit

He is still a big, strong guy and is extremely good 1 on 1 and overhead

Its a very left field option, but wouldn't mind him being trialled at CHF for periods of the game with Darling to play out wider on the half forward flank. Darling, for his deficiencies, would be the more mobile of the pair atm and might be better suited with a bit more space to move/lead into

Harsh calls on Yeo here, I could understand Shuey given we’ve had a look at him not cutting it in the middle this year but Yeo has barely set foot on the field. Get him back in the team if he’s good to go and back him in to get back his best.

It’s a 10 goal+ loss regardless, may as well get cracking on whether he can still get it done.

Drop/Rest one of Darling or Kennedy - play Ryan at FF and try to get him some space to work in.

Not that the ball will spend any time up there anyway…

Do we read anything into Dixon not making the Brisbane team? Seems Jamieson has pushed past him as far as a ruckman goes. So if Dixon is to play who are the tall forwards?

And if Williams, Jamieson and Strnadica are all available who misses out? (Assuming we all agree Edwards showed he’s definitely not even close to a ruckman.)

Thoughts on Boots across half back ?
Could be something. They’re clearly trying to get ball users involved there, whether that’s SPS or Jones over the last fortnight.

I’d settle for him anywhere other than permanent mid at this point. It doesn’t help us for the future, he’s shown he’s still a HFF in admittedly small stints in the past, it gets the younger mids time on the ball. Might might might be a short term pain but with where we’re at right now it surely can’t be any worse, so let’s kick the tyres on some younger options.

They said in the commentary, for whatever it’s worth, that the Eagles sought permission to play a WAFL top up over Dixon as it would have made the team too tall and wasn’t a viable lineup. Surprised the AFL allowed if it that’s the case.

Have to imagine Edwards never gets a run as a ruck again so I think Dixon is every chance to play a forward/ruck role in future.
