So, unless there is a last minute reprieve the count becomes... zero.

Wonder what the count is for the other 17 teams?

It looks like we're back to 24 fit bodies.

Basically, he's fit, his name isn't Naish, he plays.
17- Brisbane

15- St Kilda
14- Gold Coast, Port Adelaide
13- GWS, Sydney, Melbourne

I don’t rate Nelson and I get that he’s the whipping boy since Masten finished up but his best footy has Naish covered. Whether we see his best is another thing all together.
Strongly disagree here. Naish's first few games for us were miles ahead of anything Nelson has ever delivered for us. Sure, Naish's form has dropped off since, but I'm guessing that is due to him now having to learn our "gameplan" and structures, rather than playing on pure instinct. We will probably see similar performance declines with Clark and Florenca (if we need him again/draft him) in the short term. Regardless, he doesn't deserve to be dropped for Nelson or even worse, HEdwards.

Not yet melt time for me. Long way til Sunday. I consider this a provisional team.

Naish seems strange but he may be need a break or he may start anyway. (As may any of the emergencies.)

Interesting to see who doesn’t play WAFL.

And Gaff and Rioli means more spots for youth. They’ll both be on our list next year. What’s the rush?

We’ll find out a lot about ourselves as a club, who’s up for the fight.

“It's really difficult because of the injuries and COVID and then synergy on-field is a real challenge.

Because everyone knows that the best way to build synergy on-field is to drop the player who has played all games this season (and has been good overall this season) while underperforming and unfit senior players get gifted games when available.

Such a west coast move to drop our only player who runs both ways and actually puts in for an underperforming spud.

**** me what a rabble we've become

Patrick...we've had complaints from the other players about you making them feel uncomfortable. We've spoken about this, only run one way, throw one arm out to tackle and have a laugh when you give away a cheap turnover goal. No-one wants to see an angry face on the telly, least of all our friends at the Audi Centre. These are basic West Cost non-negotiables. I'm afraid we've got to give you a spell mate until you get onboard.

So the 22 lining up will be an average of 25.6 years old and played 80.3 games on average.

We will field 5 players aged 22 and under, 12 players aged 23 to 27 and 5 players over 28.

This is starting to sound like a recipe for a top level team.

Then you dig a little deeper.

Unfortunately we have 9 players who have played under 30 games.
Why?
Clark (1) and West (10) are mature recruits
The developing players of Winder (3), Jamieson (1), B Williams (13) have been held off from having a lick of the ice-cream as they have no credit sin the bank.
Then we have a bunch of players in the 30 to 75 games that are just bog ordinary.

You're all missing the worst part.

Clark is named on the wing.

WCE Selection Committee:

"So Gaffs out, we need players for the wings."

"Let's drop Naish, and bring in Clark to play on the wing, that'll throw Melbourne right off."

"Isn't Clark a large, inside mid who thrives on the contest?"

"Exactly! Melbourne will never see it coming"

I was baffled by Edwards inclusion but dees have Two KPF’s and one of Jackson or gawn up forward. Thats makes waterman selection even more baffling. We should be having the resting ruck playing forward.

Nelson shouldn’t have come in but Jones isnta defender to me either and Winder wasn’t good enough to hold his spot over someone like a Jones. Naish like Dixon is being punished while Simmo’s pets Nelson and Rotham have got away with the same crime. Funnily enough the two recent additions have played better footy this season that both of Nelson and Rotham. I will go one step further and say that Rotham hasn’t done anything since early 2021

Surely Naish out has to be because of an injury concern? Maybe he is sore and they plan to do a Gaff-style "can't play a whole game so we'll name him sub" party trick.

I'm not convinved Naish will be a long term player for us but certainly wouldn't have picked this week to drop him otherwise.

Alternatively, Clark late out, Naish to the wing, Melbourne are so confused we get up for the win...?

Loving Winder in the side, awesome to see.

But Nelson! He's been utter rubbish this season, Naish had a poorer game last week but should've had credits in the bank. Nelson isn't a whipping boy anymore, he's just a shite player...

I can't wait to see the look of utter bewilderment with undertones of grudging admiration on Goodwin's face when Simmo pulls the awesome "Clark out, Naish in" trick minutes before bouncedown.

Melb can throw their hours and hours of tape they compiled and reviewed on Clark straight in the bin and, mark my words, this 300EQ level switcheroo will go a long way to us winning the game.
