He carries a lot more value than a fringe player!!!! (see four exclamation marks, I win)Other than what we know him for, what value??? He was a fringe player for us this season!!!

OK I love your avatar and compo argument, but I don't think Varcoe is all that bad. He played really well in his two grand finals. He was key to our victories in both. Two time flag winner - a change might do him good...On Varcoe: F-NO!
We get frustrated with Wellers, this bloke'll make ppl slash wrists. Never seen a bloke go missing so much, just doesn't have it upstairs, literally a once in a blue moon performer.
On compensation, it should be given by round (e.g. 1st round/2nd round compensation) and only ever AFTER the completion of that round (i.e. pick 19 being the highest). It means that teams don't pretend to want to keep players and will actually fight to sign 'em instead of the expected compensation. This is the system they use in baseball and NFL in the US and it takes the net difference of players signed and lost. Far fairer.
Yep came here to float a similar thing.
Does 13 + Varcoe for William and your 2nd rounder which is pick 32 work? Seems a bit in our favour maybe?
Difference between Wellingham and Varcoe is we will be trading a fringe player.... Not gifting pick 16 in the draft!! As I said, I'm not a Varcoe fan, but we really aren't gambling anything but a fringe player in reality. On Varcoe: F-NO!

Give 'em nothing. F em, if the AFL is going to rort the system for them they can get stuffed. Hope you screw 'em hard.Think I second rounder might end up at the Dees for Clark though...
I can see some crazy 4 way trade coming to head - which is why the Pies want to put Beams deal to bed soon. If it's gonna happen.
It's 13 for Will and pick 32. But yeah...I doubt Geelong is parting with their 1st rounder for Will
Pretty certain you are being too kind, but would be more than happy to accept. I think we will know a lot more regards the Varcoe scenario come close of trade Tuesday/WednesdayIt's 13 for Will and pick 32. But yeah...
Swapping a backman, of which we currently have a plethora of, for a mid in Varcoe, of which we have a need for, seems fair for me. A straight swap only though. We don't lose too much in this trade.
*Leaves before stoned*
A lot more realistic than beams for - pick 5, Hanley, Aish, Zorko and ownership to the Great Barrier Reef that Collingwoog/Maguire expect.Think you're already stoned
dont agree on late delistings. Think it's unfair on the player ni matter how good/bad they are.Side note, thoughts on Carter to be delisted after list lodgment in the same way Hansen was? Means we'd get a pick just have to have him in the 2015 cap.

No not at all. Just curious and throwing things out there. It is silly season after allNot sure if you're taking the piss and then posting on your board along the lines of ' roflz those eagles flogs want our first pick AND varcoe for Spudfield and their second rounder lolz"..
Cause I'd do the above trade in a heart beat.

Yeah at the very least make a giant sign on your webpage saying "Player X going cheap! Really cheap!"dont agree on late delistings. Think it's unfair on the player ni matter how good/bad they are.
He might not be the best but he sure as shit aint as bad as Wellingham.I'd do it solely for the draft pick side of things.
Varcoe is god awful, and i don't want another invisible pea heart at our club to be added to Sharrod and Hill.

Completely agree, but will never happen!!! A player for player is almost fair (given Schofield is a fringe on a 9th placed team)!!!! Number 13 will not happen unless there is more transactions involved on this trade!!!Don't get the hate. He isn't A-grade but he would get a spot in our best 22 and is solid enough, offers some X-factor.
However Varcoe isn't the key in that trade.. even if you say Varcoe is worth nothing we're effectively upgrading 32 to 13 to have 11 and 13 in the draft and only lose Schofield.. that's a huge win imo.
Only missed 5 games at the start of the year and played all games from round 11 onwards... Would find it hard to believe him going to Geelong unless he wants to head back to Victoria. Will Schofield was entrenched in the side at the end of year.
Also heard Simpson wasn't that keen on him at start of year, but that changed at the end
of the season and rates him highly now.
I don't think he will be traded, if he is would cost Geelong there first rounder minimum.
God I hate Varcoe, a 27 year old pea heart, will be very happy if this trade doesn't go ahead.
