I just dont think any stop gap KPD will be better than allen performed this year . Also whats the point in taking potential games from allen .
It would be nice if we bought in another KPD into our Wafl team so we can play rotham in a more attacking manner

I suspect Freo will have patched up any issues Kelly may have with them by next year. Apparently Peter Bell and Van Der Wielen are pretty friendly. Expect lots of schmoozing from Belly.

It’s great having a mediocre rival down the highway, but one of the problems is that almost invariably they have better draft picks in the national and pre-season drafts.

I would be very surprised if they took him in the ND at what our first round would be, pick 18-21. They would have maybe pick 6-10 at best and then pick 24-30. I would think there 1st is a bit too early for them...

Also I am pretty confident his second year will see a dip in form as the opposition put more time into him. Michael Barlow had a better first season at a year younger than Kelly on debut...

Wouldn’t be opposed to looking at hugh Goddard in the rookie draft. Was highly rated when drafted. Don’t know what the story of his delisting was. If just crappy saints development we might be able to get something from him, if some other issues then we can pass

Edit: just looked up. Did his Achilles a couple of years ago and had turf toe. Hard to come back from an Achilles. It’s a no for me.
Goddard was already slow for a KPD before injuries. Unless your a spectacular mark like gov you will struggle as a kpd without any pace .
Its why freo delisted collins . Lack of pace
Collins went back to VFL and reinvented himself as an interceptor . Lets see how collins goes at Gold Coast .

They will likely value our 2019 pick at 18 (once bitten ...) meaning we would probably need to give them either our 2019 second (they would value at say pick 38) and get their fourth back in 2019 (assume it is around pick 62)

Can you trade multiple future picks?

Did not think so.

So our delistings would have to be announced in the next day or so yeah?

Karpany a cert to get the bullet. Interesting to see who else goes.

So, assuming that we retain 1 of either Olango or Mcinnes (well aware that one is nowhere near ready, and the other isn't up to rucking at AFL level) - is there a chance we go in slightly under-manned in our ruck stocks by only taking 1 player across the drafts?

With the in-season draft next year (round 8-10 range iirc) we should know by that stage if NN is coming back (or just get 'late 2019' updates all year...) - so can look to the local leagues for cover at that stage if required...

Hickey
Vardy
Draft pick (clarke?)
Olango (in an emergency)
NN (injured until mid year)

Thoughts?

I think we need

Hickey (unspectacular first ruck)
Vardy (injury prone (ruck/forward)
Naitanui (hopefully back late in the year)
Senior back up (McInnes or other, preferably other)
Development ruck (Olango or other)

Fitness will help him . I dont think his kicking is a problem with his action it just when he gets tired hus kicks are lazy

He was close to a debut in 2017 but then he broke his ankle and from the games i watched on TV since his disposal has seemed pretty average. So maybe he was still struggling to come back from it this year?

Offer first round. Pick 18

Geelong take it or he goes to the draft.

Geelong will take it... up the ass with WC's steel-capped boot.

What if WC have pick 14 next year instead of 18?

It's around what Geelong should've accepted this year, so there's no way WC should be offering it next year given Kelly's uncontracted status and Wells' dealing in bad faith.

WC offering Geelong a 1st round pick next year is being generous. Geelong haven't demonstrated they deserve such. There has to be repercussions for how Wells dealt with WC. Why supply them the lube before going in?

Unless WC are looking to use next year's 1st as part of bringing in Coniglio, WC should trade it out for as early a pick as possible for this year's draft. WC can Luke Ball Geelong next year and get Kelly in the draft for their 2nd pick, (1st pick if traded out this year) which will be in the 30's.

Yep. **** Geelong.

Don’t think so Kelly has given Freo the big finger ..He’d rather live in a shithole called Geelong for a another 12 months than live at home and play for Freo that should be pretty obvious ..

Could the Eagles draft a ruckman this year, given that Natanui could be still injured and we have lost Lycett ? We have gained Hicley but having another ruckman to groom for the future (apart from Orlango) might be a good idea.

It might be a Zac Clarke. Ready to go, seemingly over his knee issues and AFL experienced (is he only 28??). I think a couple of Melbourne clubs are into him too.

Exactly this. I would be trying to trade the first rounder for an early and a late second rounder. One to take a young talent and the later pick for Pickett. May as well 100% ensure Kelly is coming by having his best mate at the club.

I believe our end of first round Lycett compo is considered a first rounder (we will find out on draft night as to whether we have last pick on day 1 or first pick on day 2.

It is

The Suns currently have 3 first round picks and 2 picks in the 20's (2, 3, 6, 24, 29). Supposedly they only want 5 picks this year.

What I suspect will happen is that the Adelaide Clubs will give them multiple first rounders and pay way overs for picks 2 and 3 to get access to Lukosius and Rankine. The premiums the 2 SA clubs will pay I expect is massive.

Assuming the Suns take the players that are phantom linked (the names past 6 are indicative) - they stay put and end up with:-
2 - Lukosius
3 - Rozee
6 - Smith
24 - Taylor
29 - Sturt

Alternatively, if they are prepared to miss out on the 2 SA boys, they can make a killing on first round picks.
2 possible trades
Crows get 2 (Lukosius) and pick 24 in exchange for 8, 13 and Crows first round 2019 (say pick 15)
Port get 3 (Rankine) and 29 in exchange for 5 and 10
Under both scenarios, the Suns get a premium of around 500 points per trade
End up with 2018 draft picks 5, 6, 8, 10, 13 plus pick 2019 pick 15
Possible draftees:
5 - Smith
6 - Ben King
8 - Caldwell
10 - Hately
13 - Clark

It will be interesting to see if there are any sellers in 1/2/3 picks this year - the SA clubs are both holding 3 first round picks as well as still holding their 2019 first rounder.

Port have already fired a shot over bow of GCS warning them that if they take the SA boys , then they will in 2 yrs time leave no stone unturned to bring them back to SA ..

For sure.
Rioli being in the centre bounce of a grand final with 1:40 left on the clock kinda says where his future might lie. 3 pressure acts to dispose the opposition and get it going our way I better stop before I gotta find another tissue!
Now you got me tearing up as well.
