I guess im looking at the longer term with butts and goddard. I'd be disappointed if oallen or brander ended up permanently in the backline and if its only on the rookie list then why not?
Rotham isnt a kpd in any way shape or form
We have got our forward line sorted and im guessing 2 mids will be taken with our first 2 picks so kpd should be next

Replacing HBF's in Hurn and Jetta is a more pressing concern than targeting mids, IMO.

Watson's still an unknown of sorts, as he could go either way, is inconsistent and has his up's and down's, and Nelson is a solid player but depth. Would like at least one HBF this year. I would not only be ok with WC trading up to get Clark as a Hurn replacement, but it's what I'd like to see WC do. This kid is going to be a star. Sure WC have two bites at the cherry at present with 20 and 22, but my stance is quality > quantity. Jordan Clark is virtually a sure thing, such is his quality. He fills a pressing need, too.

If WC suspect Clark is going top 10, let him go, but if he's gettable by trading up to 11, for instance, DO IT!

Like I said we had 5 cat a rookies (39-5), just like in 2017, meaning delisting any 1 of them vacates a main list spot.
Ok, got you now. My mistake

I suspect Watson will be getting upgraded from the rookie list though since we’ve extended his contract to 2020

Guys, can we please stop all this grossly optimistic talk on Watson.

He isn't going to make it at Afl level, unless...

He start living in the gym and gets an absolutely shit ton stronger.

The guy is pacey, but is about as strong as a ten year old girl. If I had to back him or Masten in a test of strength, I would back Masten (and that's saying something). I watched him very, very closely in the Afl X and the pre season series as well as a bit of the WAFL and every one on one contest he is in he gets pushed aside like he wasn't even there. He would get utterly mauled at Afl level.

And thats also ignoring that his disposal is unreliable at best.

I hope this guy proves me we wrong, but I think he is far more likely to be our Fraser Mciness of the half back line; depth and nothing more

I said in another thread

Curtis Taylor - Classy half forward/mid
Luke Valente - sa inside mid just good
Liam Stocker - great footskills dual sided mid think shuey play style
Sam Stuart- xfactor quick classy forward has toe and great size and good agility lots of potential ex cricket player
Ely Smith - tough strong inside mid has burst power huge at 188cm 86 kgs and has great agility which is a key for big mids
Xavier O'Halloran - leader quick inside out mid another i really really like

Some really good mids there.

Big fan of Stocker and Smith and O'Halloran

So if Stocker is available at 20 jump on him.

If gone grab Smith and O'Halloran

Totally disagree here.
Watch his last 4 games of the year for East Perth.
He turned his game around never turned the footy over, kicked well
but even better made good decisions.
His one on one work was outstanding didnt get beat.
I know Adam Simpson was very very happy with his end to the season.

Spot on RE I concur with your assessments.

I really like those three and I think O'Halloran is going to be a great leader.
I would add Ed McHenry and Jacob Kennerley as well to your list

Just saw the list of free agents next year, can you imagine if we landed Coniglio and David Swallow and picked up Kelly in a trade. Naitanui gets back to somewhere near his best, and we get Gaff back obviously.

Midfield in 2020 of NN, Shuey, Yeo, Redden, Gaff, Coniglio, Kelly, Swallow. Sheed carries on his GF form and learns to tackle, Venables makes the full time move into the midfield. It could be absolutely ridonkulous.

Edit: never going to happen but imagine. Imagine.

Any links to Liam Stocker's highlight videos?
Can't find any.

Its not like Jetta is strong one on one

Why would we want Swallow, we should be avoiding those types from here on in.

What’s the chances with the Eagles having their own reserves they start streaming the games? Does the WAFL get streamed at all for interstate supporters to watch?

As someone said a bit earlier, totally agree if the Crows or Power fail to upgrade they may look to off load their picks at 10 13 for 2 in the 20s.

Any decent half-back flankers you guys would be keen on?

Really need to get a succession plan going, I'm not convinced anyone we've currently got playing in the backline at reserves level (Nelson, Rotham, Mutimer, Watson) will be able to step up.

Leave parto on the list, we have no need to clear the decks, you always need back up mids. He will be better than a pick 72 coming in, why take a late pick instead of a player we have already put 3 years into. Sometimes it just clicks for players and they make it
Main list changes

Ezy
Lecca
Lycett
Karpany

In
Hickey
Cameron
Pick 20
Pick 22

Rookies is where we could make a deep cut

England, Burrows, Bayok, Mcinnes
