It's ridiculous.

Although that said, I've worked in businesses where there is no planning like this for employees, so I can see how it happens.
It's still sh*t though.
Sure, but this is supposed to be an elite organisation.

I can only guess Chapman is not big on succession planning, as there isn't one for the board either that he has been in charge of for the last 10 or so years.

He had been "grooming" someone for his role, but he upped and died.

JFC. Some people in here are embarrassing themselves. Brereton is a fu** knuckle, and so are many in here. Have some goddam respect.
Na. Brereton actually does know a lot about football. He's a bit of a dickhead at times but you can't take Frankston out of the boy regardless of how much money you have. What's embarrassing is the club trying to justify playing a player that would not be played if he was any other member of our squad. I realise they want to get him to 200 even though I don't believe a player should given a game if they don't deserve it. Just because our club hasn't planned better or developed a player to take over from Walker doesn't mean he should continue to be played when he is not up to it. Walker isn't the first player to be finished at 30. Travis Cloke was finished around the same age if not earlier. Was sad watching him play that last year at the Bulldogs when he could hardly even lift his arms. No champion deserves to go out being embarrassed on field. People that genuinely care about Walker would not want that.

How many years ago was that now?

Chapman is a liar, pure and simple.
Not sure that was a lie? He had been grooming him, the bloke died and then he “had to stay on to find another suitable candidate”. You can call him out on lots of things, not sure that’s one of them.

Can and will. I wouldn’t go as far to say that he used Foord’s death to weasel out of plans to hand over because that would be wrong.

Every organisation is an elite organisation if you listen to upper management.

Leading goalkicker last year. And I think he's still our leading goalkicker this year. I was about to say "think of how much worse off we'd be without him", then I remembered we're winless, so we literally could not be any worse off.

But yeah, at this point I don't have any major objections to giving him the last 3 games he needs. I pretty much checked out of this year once the season shut down after round 1, so I don't really give a toss. I think Talia is about to hit 200 games as well - that and Tex are probably the only things we're going to get to cheer for this year. We're certainly not going to see a win.
There's two ways of looking at that topic. Playing Walker is likely stunting the growth of other players. I think you may find that is the case. The real problem is not Walker but the people running our club who have failed to trade in or draft a genuine Walker replacement.

I'm not a fan of commentators stating the bleeding obvious. You want a commentator that can ADD to the vision. Dermie is not one of those.
I tend to think the opposite.

He often talks about the game as a coach. Suggesting moves that shoukd be made and what he thinks may happen.

In terms of adding value as a commentator he is probably the best. To the extent where I feel he would be a great forwards coach.

At times it can be boring to hear though.

However with Dermie you can tell if he is nit enjoying a game, he does not analyse the game and goes off track. This is when he does not add value and joins in with the other talking heads.

Well then he must not enjoy many of the games I've watched that he's called then.... ;)

Maybe he a crows fan deep down

Even if you're not a Crows fan, there wouldn't be much enjoyment for the neutral observers in watching us, either. The only people who enjoy watching us are the supporters of our opponents, because it allows them to think that they're better than (or not as bad as) they are. Just look at how good the Kangaroos looked against us.

There is nothing to validate he had been grooming anyone. El Chappo only made mention of this when he was being questioned by Rowey on 5aa end of last year......same time he was telling us an external review is not required and the same time he stated Burton would be a gun.

There is more evidence to suggest Chappy is a bullshyting weasel.
