Yeah what was it a point? I dont think youd hang your hat on a one point win in those ridiculous conditions.

Sevilles has a lot of young quick players. I go as far as to say we would be better on a big dry ground.

You can argue that we will be used to playing in the slop, but now have 3 of the last 5 away and can always find another ground to train on.

From what I've seen I couldn't disagree more.

Seville's team is made up of more hard bodies, they have no pace but win a lot of contested ball.
Emerald's team on the other hand, has a lot of kids that still have some growing to do, but move the ball extremely quickly once they get possession of it.

Alex V Junction
Alex too strong at home for a struggling Junction. 30 Points

Kinglake V Emerald

Even away from home emerald are too strong. Emerald by 60 Points

Powelly V Belgrave
Important game for both sides. Belgrave by 1 point.

Yea V Seville
After 2 weeks on the chip in crap conditions the blues will be keen as beans to get out onto a decent ground. Seville by 100 points.

alex by 3 points, they want 3rd spot more.
emerald by 50, kinglake just dont have it this year
powelly by 2 points, kick after the siren
seville by 60 points, should be too strong

Olinda hosted Div 2 1st Semi Final Day today. Personally I thought it was a huge success. Unfortunately for Yea and Alex, they had to make decent trips (especially in the 18s in the local derby) I guess the "Southern" Div 1 clubs return the favour next weekend so all fair.

Really enjoyed all 3 games ! 18s games was a cracker with Yea finishing over the top, 2 very good (and big sides). A bit scarey when you think that this was 3rd v 4th (??). Yea has been struggling a bit for Senior success in the YV, but I'd suggest if they can hang onto, and promote the majority of this current group, we may start to see a bit of a Tiger emergence in the near future.

The 2s game saw Belgrave rip apart Junction in the 2nd term and from then on, it was playing out time. Really good standard and good intensity. Great to see a couple of pretty ordinary noggins in Adam Willo and Gregga Ison still going for Belly. Willo got 6 today in a bit of a clinic !!

1s game was a cracker. First thing I can really see in contrast to 1st Div football is the run and link. Sure it was a final and there's alot more pressure etc. There wasn't a heap of multiple handballs popped out today to free players up. Secondly, I didn't see much use of short kicks. I thought there was heaps of opportunities to do it, but they weren't used. I guess what we did see though was long kicks to contests and this kept the game reasonably open. Alex jumped YJ in the 1st by 5 goals, and you could probably say that it ultimately cost them, although YJ di get in front late in the match. When Alex had a couple of goals lead early in the last, you felt they were hanging on for dear life. YJ pushed hard and looked to have their measure. Somehow the Rebs came again and willed themselves to a 4pt win. All our guys on the hill had a cracker of a day barracking for Alex (and of course Kenny Taylor who only gave 5 50mtr penalties today)

With Seville getting steamrolled today, and Alex certainly used to a larger ground as Woori will be next week, you'd have to think the Northerners are in with a huge show. Hope all concerned had a great day up here, beautiful weather and hospitality and terrific footy right through the day. Oh, and, a bit pissed we didn't get to host any Netty !!!

TEES out :D

Tim - any chance of umpires using the hall all of next year - and the dedicated carparks!!! :D Big thumbs up to you guys for looking after everyone today.

How'd this theory pan out on Sunday? Guess we won't hear from Blueboy again.

No probs MIW, felt alot more comfortable this year doing it, having had the experience of hosting 2009 finals. The hall definately works nicely for the umpires. We used it also as a netball changeroom facility in 2009 which also worked really (still pissed we didn't get any Netball). Appreciate the feedback though, things went well and the footy across the whole day was terrific !

We were very ordinary on the weekend. Emerald played a good brand of footy, linked up out of the backline, got the numbers back and the numbers forward when it mattered. Pretty much the opposite of what Seville did. Gave up in the 3rd quarter and looked like there was plenty of arguing and whinging going on between the boys which is hard to watch from a supporters perspective.

Our ressies and unders were very impressive. But they are always going to be when you have 6 or 7 blokes across both sides that should be playing seniors.

it aint over til the fat lady sings finger.

and this way, emerald have everything to lose now, the way they were carrying on, was as if theyd already won the cup...

they finished on top, won by 93 points, pressures on them now, whilst seville have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Heres something Seville has to lose, a knockout final v Alex this weekend.
Id say the preasures on Seville but that might just be me?

Obviously the implication is that one would assume that Seville will account for alex on Sunday. And have nothing to lose against emerald on gf day.

But clearly that went over your head didn't it, little man?

ill say all 3 were brilliant spectacles atmosphere was awesome in the last quarter of 18's when we started to make a comeback at yea and seniors was an electryfing affair and the hospatility was very good as well

Prelim Finals Tips-
Seniors- Alexandra to roll seville by 8 points the boys are very excited for this match.
Reserves- Belgrave to go all the way from 4th or 5th i think it was the completly dominated junction on the weekend
Under 18's- Yea to get over the line by 3 points

Based on ladder positions, skill levels and quality, one would say yes. But in what could prove as major concerns for the Blues, some MASSIVE injury concerns regarding without doubt there three best players.
Kane Jones to miss this week, possibly season, with a dislocated shoulder from last weeks game.
Marty Eckers struggling BIG TIME with an ankle injury, even with the importance of the game, has a massive cloud over him. The reason he has been spending so much time up forward.
Dean Troyhan in massive discomfort with a heel injury (possible bone spurs). The reason he missed this fixture 2 weeks ago.

On a side note, Shane Smith will be returning from a groin strain sustained only 2 weeks ago, and is "only 80%".

So with Jones out (league leading goalscorer), Eckers 50/50 and Troyhan 80/20, the game evens up alot more.

I was always told never to ASSUME because you make an 'ASS' out of 'U' and 'ME'. (ASS-U-ME)

But I'm a realist and will be tipping Seville, but it could prove a tougher game than meets the eye.
