Top game down at Fearon. Could have gone either way, but Willy got out to an early lead and held on to it for most of the day. It was played in close for much of the match.
Two reasonably evenly-matched sides who will both take some beating this season if they keep all their cattle on the park.

went and had a look at the Williamstown V Parkdale Match on the weekend. Findings are;
The vultures were a bit stiff, injuries and mother nature did not help their cause. They had a lot more of the ball and probably should have won, but williamstowns pressure and tackling was superior and in the end got them over the line.
Im sure parkdale will get their revenge on williamstown back at the vulture pit.
Looking towards rd 2:
The vultures have depth, and there are several exciting players pushing for a senior spot this week. the likes of Sammy 'the fshhh' l'huillier, Jesse Tobin, Daniel Price, Chad Ryan and the funky funk miller. Parkdale will be a formidable force once the new players start to gel.

on another note;
have williamstown been poaching players from the chinese table tennis team? Wong seems like a good find.

No. My Table Tennis crew know not to go to Williamstown, must be from another sport. Try Lacrosse.

Vees Up...agree with you that the wind change in the final q was helpful, but cannot agree re injuries. Willy had lost one key forward by 1/4 time and were down two key forwards prior to 1/2 time, and thus played out half a game with 2 on the pine. Agree that Parkedale look to have good depth.

Take the table out of table-tennis and you might get a better idea of Wongy's other true sporting prowess.

Agree with Gasometer on several fronts - Wong - best small forward in comp. Might be 3 deep in contest but will somehow come up with the mark. Secondly I am a bit surprised that Vees Up said that the Vultures were a bit stiff with injuries. We lost 'Chicken' in the 1st 1/4 then a key midfield/forward in the 2nd, leaving us with 2 on the bench. Losing 2 key players does have a big impact on any team. On saying that, the Vultures will go a long way in 2011 as they have a few gun players, although i do question their age and how they will fair up mid-season.

Mass exodus from the tigers in premier division, l'hillier. ryan and tobin all leaving for parkdale?? looks like good recruiting from the boys on the highway .. have any other clubs recruited well ?

Hardly a mass exodus - my spies at brindisi st tell me Ryan is the only one they wanted to keep. The other two only played seniors last year on the back of about 350 injuries.

Ryan can play they reckon and my mail is that he will tear d grade a new one when up and running.

All credit to Williamstown as it was a great game, 2 blokes suffered a head knock in the first, and then another 2 in the last, also had a dislocated shoulder and a ankle injury, deciding not to risk the head injuries results in young chapman playing through a lot of pain with virtually 16 fit men remaining for the vultures. In regards to the 3 St Bedes players Ryan is a great footballer but is underdone, H'Lulliar kicked some freakish goals in the two's and struggled with injuries last year but anyone that plays a-grade football can some what play, and then JNR Tobin he captained St Bedes 19's so must of been held in some esteam, im sure the vultures are focussing all there energies on Bulleen Templestowe this week. Wong does look a player when he doesn't kick it the wong way:D

will they be able to cope with not getting the ball delivered to them like in A grade ? massive difference i would believe

Friars taking absolutely nothing away from their 72 point win over Mentone who couldn't even field a full twos team. They are certainties to be religated and are a good oppourtunity to reward your best U19 players with a game in the seniors against.

Also very dissapointing to see only 3 Mentone players have a drink after the game. You can expect to see every senior player from the Friars have a drink in opposition clubs rooms regardless of what has happened on the field.

Yes fantastic recruiting for a team who are now 1 - 18 from their past 19 games.

Will be interesting to see how the older bodies cope with injury week after week.
