interesting banter, i love it. I think the step up from D1 to C is one of the smoother transitions in terms of changing grades just from what i seen from playing in both. Plus also agree with uncle mick great start to the rover boys and flags are most certainly not won in may. i think we are blessed with an extremely competitive division and anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Skill level is similar across most teams but just who ever plays harder for longer will take the points each week

Anyone enlighten us to what has happened to Old Geelong this year? Preliminary finalist to a bottom 4 contender. Have they lost anyone?

The step from D2 doesn't seem all that big if recent history is anything to go by. Take Glen Eira and St Johns out, all other years teams have been competitive.

Didn't expect to be 2-3 after 5 rounds going off last year's form, but we have lost Bayles - Yarrawonga (captain), Rockefeller -injury (2nd B&F '12), Cordy - Shepp Utd (3rd in B&F '12) and Hoevenaars - QLD (No. 1 ruckman) to name a few. Some inclusions such as Mountjoy and Shiels have been very good and you'd still expect the OGs to be one of the stronger sides this year. Early days! Willy were very good at home on the weekend too.

OGS are still a tough side

still a very good side on their day. are you guys still training once a week with low numbers? i heard last year thats all a few players could manage so therefore you blokes only got together for training once a week. is this true? and if so is it the same this year?

I've been there for five years and it's always been twice a week, not sure where that rumour came from? Sometimes we might do a Tan or St. Kilda Baths, hence Como Park will be empty on those nights. We are getting very good numbers at the moment, including strong numbers from the Club XVIII and U19s.

Looks can be deceiving. With all due respect to the side we've played, our opponents thus far have been both sides that came up from D2 and the bottom 3 placed sides from 2012 that remained in D1.
The next month will be a far greater test of where HR is at. We've been fortunate enough to have a swell of players return this season on the back of a great coaching appointment. And whilst 5-0 is a pleasing start to the season, you don't win flags in May.

But to answer your question, yes. There is a reasonable gap between C & D1 from what we've (I've) seen so far.

Agree there is a gap between D1 & C but this year it must be huge as HR are the greatest certainties for 2013 I have seen

1/2 slab of beer and some solo cans dropped off to the rooms by the ormond captain after the game.

Good club!

Hampton Rovers notched their 6th straight win of the season after defeating Old Mentonians 16.15.111 to 8.10.58. Rovers out scored the Panthers 16 goals to 5 after being scoreless in the first quarter.

We did have a laugh at the Ormond bloke who literally cried and stormed out of the clubrooms when he couldn't get a VB at BT. And note, at least a dozen of your fellow Ormond crew found it comical too. Perhaps it was you?

The $20k plus that James Boags have tipped into our club since 2009 has been huge - but this Smackers reaction was Priceless. :thumbsu:

Hampton Rovers continue their amazing start to the season by thrashing Whitefriars in a top of the table match to the tune of 85 points. You wouldn't have picked that, would you?

Jas, just waiting for you to open your twitter account. I'm enjoying the ride too. Premiers and Champions I reckon. Love the website. And yes, 85 points is a big win, what's been the difference? PI
