Aquinas vs Yarra Valley - The winemakers are taking all before them and should turn at the halfway mark unbowed, although a loss by the Bloods might not be too unpleasant if other results go as expected.
Elsternwick vs UHS-VU - An important eight-pointer here with the Wicks needing to win to keep in touch with the top four but can't see it happening.
Richmond vs Ivanhoe - Match of the Round with big stakes for both teams. The Tiger-Snakes didn't have any bite last round and may find the Hoes another imoveable force this week.
Albert Park vs Power House - Two disappointing teams this season with the Falcons probably playing slightly better and should get the win.
Hawthorn vs Old Westbourne - The Hawks had a good win last week allbeit against the House and can win another here against the western suburb old boys.
St Francis Xavier vs Kew - The Bears were impressive winners last week and while the X-Men showed some of their expected form last week I don't think it will be two on the trot for the home side.

Some big results today.

Aquinas very impressive on their attack on the pill and must believe they are back in business after a belting from Kew.

Good key defenders and Callum Cormack is a dangerous player one out.

Having sad that, Kew are flying and must be a genuine chance now.

Hoes had a difficult job at Richmond and from what I saw Richmond had the better of the game but that was after the hoes had gone out to a big lead.

Didn't expect Uni High to get the points at Elsternwick either.

Thornton must be just about the best performed small player in the comp this year.

Westbourne winning also puts the heat on the Hawks.

comp heating up!

The hoes gave RC a touch up for three quarters. It was never in doubt to be fair to them.

Agree B-dubya,

thought the first 3/4 were Ivanhoe, with RC winning the last. We were very happy to get the points from a very good team at their home ground. We still have alot more to improve on, but getting better each game.

Chump.

Was having a gander around the transfers/clearances page and noticed S.Williams from boronia (efl) has a pending status to be transferred to Aquinas. If my research is correct, he is (was) the leading goal kicker for boronia in the seniors. Big signing if he is cleared.

Hi Guys, So im boots/big booth (triple m) from Chadstone (div 4). Just wondering if possible you guys could all jump onto the wild turkey pageon Facebook http://www.facebook.com/wildturkeyau?sk=app_305901486159865 The goal for the club is to have the most Registered fans of the club. If we manage to be top of the ladder at the end of the season we win $10,000 cash! The club has been down and out for far to long. If you can help out by registering that would go a hell of a long way. Thanks for the support in advance!

I tried this and the register button was disabled for some reason?

UHS-VU vs Hawthorn - The Students should, and must, be able to handle the Hawks here.
Yarra Valley vs Elsternwick - The wine-makers to bounce back with a solid win here.
Ivanhoe vs Aquinas - Match of the Week especially after Aquinas's surprise win last week. Mmmm. Giving it to the Hoes but only just.
Richmond vs Albert Park - Can't go past the Tiger-Snakes here.
Power House vs Kew - And the Bears in a big win here.
Old Westborne vs St Francis Xavier -A must-win for the X-Men if they want to keep in range of a finals spot.

Hoes very impressive yesterday.

Aquinas were level midway through the third and it looked as if it might go to the wire but we ran the game out better and had a huge finish. The margin probably didn't do justice to the contest.

We'll be hoping to reverse the round 2 result next week against Yarra!!!

I guess all games went as expected this weekend. It was an arm wrestle at kb, with the lead never more than 3 goals. Big games next week, Ivanhoe v Yarra and RC v sfx, also kew v elsternwick.

Very good battle for the first half and as you said midway through the third, however 2 early injuries in the first quarter and one of them our key defender made it tough. Ended up with one on the bench for the last quarter and showed as Ivanhoe ran out the game impressively, showed why they're top 2 material.
Number 3 to surely kick the ton this year.
Should be a cracker next week between the hoes and yarra.

Wasn't aware that you were that many down in the last and that obviously makes a big difference and Ash is certainly on track.

Huge game for the Centrals Bigwaz. Probably a finals decider.

RC v's SFX will be a massive test of depth both teams have plenty out..

Bye Bye Hawks:
Investigation Results – 3 July 2012
Hawthorn Amateur Football Club charged with conduct unbecoming in that the club behaved in a manner not fitting the values of the Victorian Amateur Football Association by playing an unregistered player who was subsequently reported and suspended for 15 matches and thereafter continuing to behave in such a manner by giving false or misleading evidence and concealing material evidence relating to the matter.

The investigations committee having accepted the club’s guilty plea imposed the following penalties.
1. Recommend to the Board of the VAFA that Hawthorn Amateur Football Club be drawn in Division 4 for season 2013.
2. The club be fined a total of $2000 of which $1000 be suspended until the end of the 2013 season conditional upon the club not behaving in such a manner so as to breach Article 36 of the VAFA Articles of Association.
3. Patrick Clancey and Paul Nunan be banned from holding a committee position within the club until the end of the 2013 season.

Wow. That is a get out of jail free card for Old Westbourne... a harsh penalty for the Hawks, and especially their president. I can't imagine that he was aware that the player was unregistered?

I assume it related to the report in about round 4?

Yep, the guy who got 15 weeks was unregistered and played under a dodegy name. The club owned up as the name used was a current player but not till after the tribunal had handed down its decision.

"The Board will consider the recommendation of the Investigation Panel and make an official ruling on the proposed demotion to Division Four of Hawthorn Amateur Football Club in 2013; and a decision on the number of teams affected by promotion and relegation at the 16 July board meeting."

I assume that the player was unregistered because he may have had priors or was suspended from playing in any competition?. If so then the penalty was in order. If not and they never got around to registering the player then how could they link being unregistered and anticipating that he would be suspended? Taking what the now former Hawks Prez said about the incident on face value I must say I am not surprised as the tribunal are not interested in listening to the facts; they adopt the Judge Roy Bean view of the world: Hang him. Many many years ago I played in a match where an opposition player was given a year plus the remainder of the season for allegedly striking an umpire. The tribunal were not interested in hearing what occured in that one of our players actually pushed the player into the umpire unintentionally, but someone had to pay. Have to add the umpire did not help as he carried on like he had been shot. We offered to give evidence but we were not required as they had the facts. I hope the club recovers from this as it is hard enough to find two hard working volunteers who put in many many long hours for the love of the game and the club.Perhaps the Executive would want to take this into account and consider a suspended sentence and stringent reporting and monitoring procedures be implemented with respect to the registering of all players. Geez how many clubs out there have played players under a false name?
