Its not a joke bigwaz. They had 15 on the field at the start. Think they finished with 16.

It's the biggest score I've ever seen. It's almost impossible, one score every 80 seconds? Including running the ball back to the center after goals. Usually that takes 60 seconds, so EP must have been scoring every 20 seconds of actual time. Amazing.

It's a bloody joke, you'd almost have to think it was worth forfeiting rather than having such a demoralising innings. Wazzer, don't forget time-on from the goalie pointing his fingers until the ump throwing up the ball. Would have been a long day for all concerned except the Eley Park forwards.

All the senior games went to the favourites. The margin of victory by the blues was eye opening, but their reserves got pummelled.

I didn't see the second half of the rc/sfx game, but I hear rc kicked the last two goals to snatch victory at the death. What I did see was pretty good footy, but there was a bit of rust to kick off.

It's reserves Otp. No time off. That makes the size of the score unbelievable. Considering balls get lost at Whitehorse all the time in the school as well.

I was shocked that eley park won by that much even though i thought they would come out on top, especially their reserves
UHS-Vu should also be strong again this season so i expect them to finish top 2 this season

We now keep a couple of spare balls behind the goals at the school end to stop time being lost.

Who are our early picks for the grand finalists this year? I know it's too hard to tell this early, but I'm curious to know who everyone thinks at the start of the season

Can you give us a run through of that game? Ie. Ball up, tap, kick, mark, goal. Repeat. Must have been something to behold! RC's reserves beat chadstone 230-0 a few years back, and they barely touched the ball. 334 is another level above that. It's Bradman-esque.

I think it will be very close this year, with a couple of sides unlucky to miss out on the top 6.

yea. Started with 14 on the field and ended with 12.

18 v 12.... Hardly bradmanesque.

Can anyone tell me how crowd levels were for round 1? I ask as I was at Frankston V Crib Point on the weekend and an old teammate was chatting to me about the no alcohol policy at VAFA games and how it brings the crowd down or how people sit in their cars and drink anyway (which in turn causes lower revenue). Frankston and Cribby don't usually pull large crowds at a guess I would have said there was around 400 there excluding players umpires and officials. Now each of those 400 paid $10 entry which I was happy to do as it goes straight to the club and not to the league. I am by no means a drinker but it was nice to sit there with a few mates and have a can of VB and a hot roast beef roll and enjoy the footy, not one person there was offensive to the umpires because they had a few under their belt. Coupled with the fact they have the netball going on next to the footy oval, it really was the "community" football that the VAFA are going for, despite having the alcohol there. I know most clubs in the lower levels could do with $4000 a game coming straight from the gate, 9 homes a year and that's about $36,000 you didn't have to work very hard for. I know Big Waz has said before the world doesn't have to revolve around drinking, it doesn't. But I tell you what, it was real good to sit there and have a beer bought from the club and watch some good footy.
Maybe its time the VAFA take a look at their antiquated rules.

Couldn't agree more, especially as we're unable to charge people at the gate either.

However it is the same debate each year, nothing will change unfortunately.

So I'm interested in the league's opinion of when a match should be called off. Surely if a team has only 12 on the field the game should be over. Mercy rule? It would have just become silly.

14 is the minimum number of players to take the field, so if they ended with 12..... surely then the game should have been called off when it went below 14?
