Hard to tell how we stack up until we run into a few of the longtime D3 teams, really. Starting against South Mornington and the other promoted team probably isn't an accurate indicator of how the rest of the year will go.

Kicking 1 million goals in a game is a pretty good effort regardless of the opposition

Is everyone holding a minute of silence before their matches this Saturday? Seems to be the done thing, but it takes a bit of organising... Bugler, Flag, Cannon etc. It leads to pretty firey first contest though!

Last round wasn't as good as the opening one but still well over 50%, actually over 75%.

Emmaus St Leos vs La Trobe Uni
UHS-VU v Power House
South Mornington v Swinburne Uni
Eley Park
v Aquinas
Richmond v Northern Blues
St Francis Xaver v Albert Park

Some interesting results yesterday.

Powerhouse nearly pulled off a huge upset. Are UHS as strong as they were last year?

Eley Park and Northern both got a "welcome to D3".

Swinburne continues on their merry way, but they haven't played a side that's won a game yet.

Notice there was no Dima in the lineup for SFX? Holidays or injury? Obviously that makes a big difference to their side.

EP's reserves lost for the first time in over 12 months!

Just to get the thread kick started again after a day or so of being quiet
Who do we think the best player in the comp is, or some of the better players to be more general?

Being an Aquinas supporter I can only really comment on our boys.

I would say one of our most important players would be Russell Foster, he weighs about 50kg sopping wet but consistently plays very well. Teams seem to always underestimate him, I could be wrong but I think he made the team of the year last year.

Another would be Michael Van Rooy in the backline. Hardly ever loses an aerial contest and provides heaps of run and penetration with his disposal.

Who do people think are the frontrunners at this stage?

Richmond and UHS-VU look like they'll be up there again but early days it looks like there might be 7-8 teams chasing those finals spots.

The top 6 is set. Maybe ;)

Being a Northern supporter I can only really comment on our boys.

I would say one of our most important players would be Michael Ferma, he weighs about 50kg sopping wet but consistently plays very well. Teams seem to always underestimate him, I could be wrong but I think he made the team of the year last year.

Another would be Sam Maatouk in the backline. Hardly ever loses an aerial contest and provides heaps of run and penetration with his disposal.

It's going to be pretty hard to make the top 6 from 0-3. You'd think the 3 undefeated sides should make it. So the rest have to fight it out. I think SFX is strong, and Barney has Aquinas up and about.

A couple of interesting games this week.

Round 4.
Aquinas v Northern Blues
Emmaus St Leos v South Mornington
Richmond v Albert Park
Power House v La Trobe Uni
Swinburne Uni
v St Francis Xavier
Eley Park v UHS-VU

I went and saw the aquinas v northern blues games yesterday, tight game all day in the wet yet the northern blues were able to kick a couple of late goals to seal the win. After the game i went inside to grab a lemonade and socialize with both clubs officials and players, the aquinas boys hung around (reserves and seniors) but i was shocked with only 3 officials and no players from the northern blue present after the game! Now i heard that they did have a function on last night? yet that shouldn't be an excuse not to stay for one lemonade. Is this a major problem around the ammos? and should clubs say to there players (atleast the senior players) stay around for 30 minutes win lose or draw?

The only thing unusual about that is that the winning side didn't stick around. There were plenty of them at Richmond last week when they lost.

Looks like Swinburne have lived up to the preseason hype. With that dismantling of SFX they rightfully hold top spot. It also shows just how much SFX miss Dima. Still no word on why he's out?

UHS seen to be struggling at the moment, though their depth is still there. Perhaps they're missing a fee kpp's in the seniors?

Good to see powerhouse get a couple of wins up.

How good was the lemonade? That might be the issue.

Thoughts on Emmaus, 1-3 record probably doesnt reflect accurately how well they have played, had a few close losses?

Dimma - Broken hand. back after the bye. could imagine that they'd want him back asap, but not worth the risk IMO
