I thought Swinny might get it done but, they have been inconstant the last 3-4 weeks

Glen Eira were huge . . .

Round 08.

Aquinas vs La Trobe Uni.
Glen Eira vs UHS-VU.
West Brunswick vs Emmaus St Leos
Swinburne Uni vs Power House
Eley Park vs Albert Park.

Glen Eira V UHS-VU great game. GE Saints came from behind two weeks in a row to record their fourth win in three years. Disappointment after the game as only four UHS-VU players stayed for a drink. Saints make it compulsory for players to accept the hospitality of the home club which also puts well needed money into their coffers. Bad form lads.

Good luck GE it's been a slippery slope good to see some wins, if you stay in D3 get used to that it's standard UHS-VU activity. Did you also get treated to some interesting umpiring in the 2's game??

Yes, Cosmo21, it definitely is good to get a couple of wins. Re the umpiring in the 2's, unfortunately club umps are rarely of a good standard, but it is something that we have to put up with. Sometimes we get good ones, sometimes bad, but then again, some VAFA umps are really good and others leave a lot to be desired. Speaking from experience, it's a hard job and you can't please everyone, and before you ask, I'm way too old, fat and unfit to do it.

Don't tell me Boycey is still umpiring their 2's!? I thought the VAFA put a stop to that?

Yeah Boycey still umpires the second, now l know why the second's seem to be in the top four on the ladder every year, if he coach the seniors their would not be in Div 3 would be in C Grade if that was the case. It's a shame that a umpire from one club can cheat most games each week it destroy it for other clubs and it doesn't do the reputation at VHS-VU any good, you wonder why other teams don't help if anything goes wrong on the field like reports for example the bloods vs VHS-VU elimination final last year for example.

What happened in that game?

THE BLIND EYE
?

In that game, one of the VHS-VU players after half time, clean up and knock flat one of the Aquinas players out in the Reserve, it was clearly on DVD, VHS_VU wanted to see the footage that clearly showed what happen in the game, their went to the Tribunal that next week, told them that their was nothing on the DVD and that their player got off to play in their Grand Final, Boycey then ask for their Grand final to be film, it just shows once a cheat always a cheat.

Hard to follow what you are saying? Who owned the video? Both sides would have access to it so why didn't "your team Aquinas" submit it??

The Blind Eye again
?

Yep, our bloke was bad, but we got rid of him years ago. We now have a bloke who used to umpire WRFL and is from outside our club. He's better than most VAFA umps too.
Can't believe UHS hasn't replaced Boycey yet. Shame.

Saw your guy in D4 one day - Shame .... Interesting way to put it. I think you personally covered your club in Shame a few years ago. Will take a lifetime to wipe that off the slate! Maybe longer.

Once again, don't play reserves then you don't have to worry about club umpires.

Half the clubs in this division have cheating reserves umpires. Until the VAFA start providing umpires for reserve games there's nothing that can be done.

I umpire the 2s in a rotational basis (not every week) and being from an umpiring background before playing, I reckon I know a bit about the craft. This year I have umpired with Eley Park, St Leos and Swinburne and while some would be better served with playing a few more free kicks and made a few blues, they were all clearly not biased and doing their best for the sake of the game. I have also umpired with Boycey and our mate from Hawthorn. With Boycey, while he might do eveything he can for his team in a tribunal situation, I'm not convinced that he is completely biased. He may not be a great umpire, but I truly believe that his mistakes are just that. Of course, I might have just umpired him on good days when the decisions seemed to go both ways and sometimes the wrong way. As for the Hawthorn guy, the less said the better and him departing is a great thing for the game and importantly, Hawthorn.

I'm still trying to make sense of what was written here
