Its a massive risk to take, and could cost us a bundle like Rankine, Rozee and Hately.
You would think any possibility to get pick 1 would have to include Gov, and then at least our pick 8 (current) and another pick in the top 20.
We all know SOS has Reids pride, so that is a concern.
Also, if Jack does go somewhere else and turns into a gun, he wouldnt cost more than what we would be giving up now, without the guarantee he turns out.

I think we just try and get a bundle of good kids like Rankine, Rozee, Hately etc.
Far less risk, and more possible reward.

I would give up just about anyone on our list and package with a handful of first rounders in order to be in a position to get Lukosius and Rankine.

However, I’ve said this in different threats but if we someone find a way to gain Lukosius, we must be willing to give someone up. We can not afford to keep everyone. The numbers do not add up. Tex, Jenkins, Lynch, Fogarty and McGovern in one forward line? No chance and then you add Lukosius. They all do not fit and someone will need to be traded.

For no other reason other than playing game. Pick 1 is not going to be happy playing in the SANFL for the next 2 years and will not develop. It will be a waste of time, money and assets.

Therefore, I still think we somehow bundle Mitch McGovern up with a high pick to get a top 3 pick for Jack Lukosius and then we use our first this year and next to get Izzac Rankin.

If they do change the rules for future picks and NGA players then there’s a small chance we could get both Rankine and Lukoscius but I think that ultimately Carlton will ask for way too much for pick 1.

Gold Coast may be more open to trade trade pick 2/3 and then we hope that Carlton look at Walsh or B. King with pick 1.

The only real currency we have we’re probably unlikely to trade with the possible exception of the McGovern rumours being true.

Exactly. Number 1 picks have traditionally been good but not the best even in their draft class. It’s a huge risk for likely modest reward. Even if he’s great he’s still only one player.

Rankine is the best player in this draft by far. Gov is a contracted player and won't be going anywhere especially with walker looking cooked. Would trade out b crouch, david mackay and our first pick (around 8) for pick 1 from carlton. I would throw in atkins if they want more. Rankine will be a better player than andrew mcleod imo.

I would rather bring in Rankine and another player like Rozee or Hately if they are similar in value as Lukosius.

Nothing against list managers but I prefer my current job. I agree, it's a great trade. Carlton would be stupid to turn it down. Better to get 2 players instead of 1 that will leave in 2 years. The cherry on top is ridding the club of david mackay.

Our last two wins our captain has been the catalyst.

The football we've played the last three years some of the.most attacking and physical we've seen. This is how our captain plays.

We need to find a replacement for Walker. Who brings as much to the table as Walker does as possible

No, it's too risky to put all our eggs in one basket for someone who may not live up to the hype. We've got 3 top 20 picks including those where we are in a good position to land very promising talents such as Rozee and Hately. Stick with what we have.

Actually we are in a better position than Carlton when it comes to negotiations. Look at them last night. They know one player in their forward line is not going to bring in the bacon. They need to invest in a lot of drafts this year or dramatically secure a number of players.

This means more picks in the top 20 is probably of higher value than a single number 1 pick for them. For us though, I agree with the sentiments of others....we are already tall forward heavy so does it make sense with our current list to throw everything to get him? I think our defence, outside mid, and small pressure forward are where we need more work.

Betts has a limited life in AFL and when we have little forward pressure we are easy to defend against.

So if he falls into our lap I would take it, however I would not throw the kitchen sink in for it.

If you dont know how over two trade periods SOS made Reid look silly, then dont quote it.

Depends on the cost, a player and a pick for pick 1, ie say Gov and pick 19 for pick 1 then its yes.
but 2 top 15 picks in this years draft then no way. this year draft is not worth sacrificing too many picks for 1 top pick.
Rankine, Hately, and Rozee all have the potential to be 10-year A grade players. Would hate to lose the chance to get 2 of them. more so when they have the potential to be fast goal scoring mids.

But in order to persuade Lukosius to return home at a later date, we must show interest this year.
