Do you find cricket boring?

hi, well i know this should be on the cricket board but not many people visit there and im looking for some rater quick responses.

I'm doing a talk on the topic at hand, and im just looking to hear some peoples opinions on this.

I would derive more excitement from picking my nose than watching a game of cricket - and I'd get a result in less than 5 days, too.

Cricket is just something dull that happens in between the footy seasons. It helps me to appreciate the first bounce of the season just that little bit more.

This is one thing that gets to me. If you don't like cricket you don't have to watch it. Cricket is a fantastic sport, I love it. I can spend a day just watching and analysing the game and listening to the ABC.

Hoggy,

I agree totally!! I also love cricket, and would watch any game, regardless of who's playing. (thanks to Foxtel)

I also play Cricket 2002 a lot on Playststion2... the best and most realistic cricket game available at the moment. :):)

Cheers!!

Vanders was asking for peoples opinions, I assume that means for & against, OK you like it fair enough, to me it is akin to watching grass grow, but that is my opinion, which is what Vanders was asking for.

Oh & I don't watch it, video player gets a hammering during cricket season.

The problem with cricket at an international level, is that the matches really mean nothing, world cup excepted.
Really do Pakistan care if they win this years tri-nations?

Test cricket has a certain charm and efforts have been made to rectify the above problem with the rotating rankings, but I still get the feeling players concern themselves with their averages rather than winning.

Playing cricket on the other hand is excrutiatingly boring.
I have always avoided the sport at every opportunity (played 2 seasons of indoor as a work thing) but got roped in once for a 2 day game. Went in at 9 and made 24 n.o 2 straight sixes and a straight four, (Indoor encourages you to hit straight). Despite pleas to come back, no never.

I have thus retired undefeated on 24.

(and who can find anything boring while your asleep?)

*boo!! hiss!!*;)

Just wait till the summer babe, I will be out sprawled across the couch, watching ball after balled bowled, enjoying each moment of the game, waiting for the anticpation of a century or a wicket, a great catch.

There is no way you will be able to get me moved from the couch honey....:D :p ;)

Love "grind it out" cricket.

Don't like cricket out of season when football's on (unless it's a Test series in the northern hemisphere).

Can be the most excruciatingly boring game of all. Makes my stomach churn hearing the cognoscenti of the sport describe a snail paced day of 4/180 as "gripping test match cricket"...bit like Dan and his love affair with flooded football matches.

On the other hand it can also generate subime excitement. Never forget the afternoon Australia collapsed in Adelaide when chasing some miniscule Windies score; before Craig McDermott and Tim May almost won back the Frank Worrell Trophy with a last wicket stand that eventually fell agonizingly short. Sport doesn't get any better than that. Anywhere.

No, I love cricket. I used to only like one-dayers, but now I enjoy tests too. I even went to the Boxing Day test and sat there and watched it rain most of the day - and still had fun (sad but true!)

One of my dreams is to go on a Carribean Cricket tour (I just have to get all the money together first - it's pretty expensive)

Footy is sport. Cricket is Art!!!

Cricket is the most intense fullfilling enjoyable Art ever to be created.
Test match cricket is to die for. 26th Dec each year is the holiest of days. Boxing Day in the members at the G is a tradition I have been involved in for years.
ODI's are rubbish and only good to pay for real cricket in tests.
I played cricket for years, and now umpire.
To to all you people calling it boring a great big:p

Geez, that was good. Spot on. Even more sadly (than umpiring), I scored A grade district in Adelaide.

For a different magnificent atmosphere on Day 1, Joffa, get over to Adelaide Oval and use your members' reciprocal rights.
