Bevo just seems like a totally different person to the guy who started out.
His spark has gone. A parting of the ways and a fresh start should be the the best for all parties.
I just hope Bevo and those close to him are in his ear persuading him.
Needs to give us all $10 like he did for those of us who drove up to Sydney for the prelim in 2016.

There’s alot of unrest can confirm that problem is we’d have to pay Bevo out which would put us in a shitty position

Both our previous presidents also very unhappy how the place is being run so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a challenge at the very top as well
So as expected we can’t just pay 6 months out of a newly signed contract? Always sounded like pure bullshit, and a way for the club dickriders to make out like it wasn’t an absolutely terrible decision to resign him for effectively 3 years on the back of last season.

Whoever made that decision should be sacked along with Bevo. There was literally zero need, why wouldn’t you just see how this season turned out?

****ing joke of an organisation

Our drop offs this year. Pretty damning.

Rd 1 Dees
Concede 6 goals in a row in 12min in the 2nd quarter.

Rd 2 Saints
Concede first 5 goals of the game. Concede another 5 goals in a row in the 3rd quarter.

Rd 4 Tigers
Concede 7 goals in a row in the 2nd quarter.

Rd 5 Port
Concede last 4 goals of game after leading by 8pts early in last quarter.

Rd 8 GWS
Concede 4 goals in a row partway through 3rd when leading by over 6 goals. Win game by 2 goals.

Rd 9 Carlton
Concede 6 goals in a row. Halfway through 3rd to halfway through 4th qtr.

Rd 11 GC
Concede 8 goals, kick 1. Partway through 1st to halftime.

Rd 12 Cats
Concede last 6 goals of game.

Rd 17 Pies
Concede 11 goals, kick 1. Partway through 2nd to early last. Lose by 2 goals.

Rd 18 Swans
Concede 6, kick 1. Early 2nd to early 3rd quarter.

Rd 20 GWS
Conceded 9 goals, kick 3. Midway through 3rd to end of game. Give up 6 goals lead.

Rd 22 Hawks
Concede 6 goals in a row. Late 2nd to early last. Lose by 3 pts.

Most of those losses we played periods of brilliant football and were in positions where we should have won. Only Rd’s 1 and 2 and the game against the Swans were games we weren’t innit at all.

Unfortunately, in all the listed games, we only applied ourselves for 50% of the game. When things got tough, or we were happy with how things were travelling, we dropped right off.
Mentally weak, poor connection between coaches and players. Whether or not the players are in Bevo’s corner or not, the messaging is wearing thin and they aren’t responding as they should.

And any supporter that still believes our issues this season lie with tactics/game day coaching or even selection decisions seriously needs to stop smoking

If this is the case regarding the payout. Then the morons who gave him 2 years should also pack their bags.
Which probably means he stays put.

Without getting involved in the stupid dick measuring contest, we should have a MINIMUM 5 extra wins on the board. 6 if you include Collingwood, which would then put us top of the ladder.

5 more and we are sitting 2nd, but now only just clinging to a finals spot. If that’s not reason for things to change, I don’t know what is.

It’s funny to think there are clearly worse teams, but as a fan I’d rather have the comfort of knowing you’re in a rebuild and can at least enjoy watching the team develop (Hawks atm, even Norf aren’t doing as bad over the last month). Instead we are underperforming and left to wonder what might have been if we had been more clinical and made the most of what we have available.

If players no longer fully believe in the method, what they’re expected to do or in each other, you end up with selective buy-in across the team, across weeks and heads dropping and falling away badly as soon as the same old cracks start appearing in-game. Not necessarily a tactical issue from game to game, although I suspect that is at the root of the issues with buy-in.

This has been the prevailing state for over 12 months and it was apparent (to many) after Rds 1 & 2 that dramatic change was required to rectify it. That hasn’t happened.

“Pretty clear where the issues lie” I actually don’t think it’s overly clear because there are many. I seen on the weekend Cody, Poulter and Baz fumble and hesitate when you just can’t in this game where someone like Jai Newcombe and even James Worpel just did not. Coaching and selection integrity irons this stuff out or they’re out. You can’t win premierships with blokes who play soft. You can’t keep rewarding them with games when they won’t put their head over the footy.

Who cares if we have to payout 2 years. Might hurt a bit but just take the hit if that’s what’s best for the club. Hell if North can payout 2 coaches + sign Clarko I’m sure we’ll find a way. It’s not like we’re completely on our knees financially.

And also what’s the alternative? Tread water until Libba is done and Bont’s in his 30’s?

Surely we can just give the AFL the puppy dog eyes and pretend we still have no money and are the "little pissant western suburbs club" all the "big" clubs continue to say we are and get out of it coming from the soft cap

Not with our financials the way they currently are.

"And also what’s the alternative? Tread water until Libba is done and Bont’s in his 30’s?"

That's the most likely scenario unfortunately.

I listened to Mr Bains around a month ago on SEN. David King asked him questions about Bevo. I'm paraphrasing here but his reply was straight out of the Bevo Cults bible..." he's our most successful coach, 1 flag, 2 GF's, made the finals in most years. His unpredictability and unusual selections and tactics is what makes him a genius "

I'm not having a knock on the posters here and their info but I reckon the powers that be at the club will sack everyone from the assistant coaches to the cleaners to make it look like they are doing something, before they get rid of Bevo.

I'd prefer to clean out the assistants with people that have fresh ideas and would challenge bevo. Like I said before someone who is groomed to take over in a few years

Perfect business model reply from tne club to please members

3 weeks ago I mentioned on this board that Beveridge needs to relinquish total control over whom we select as assistants and that he can coach from the bench whilst we have a brains trust of experienced football brains in the coaches box.

Anything short of that he can pack his bags.

Anyone who actually thinks we had a review at the end of last season has rocks in their heads.

Beveridge is the least of our problems. No coach will succeed with the current structure.
The fish rots from the head.

I’m fine with Bev remaining, but it seems his role or the structure around him needs to change and there need to be new voices throughout.

Agree with most of this, there is a clear disconnect between the coaching group and players as well as a disappointing lack of support on the ground for the skipper.

You know my thoughts on tactics and gameday coaching, these would have been planned well in advance during the week. However, there is a caveat and that is injuries during a game and adjustments and this is an area I have been concerned particularly over the last few weeks. We had 2 talls go down against GWS and our best KPD was not playing. Blind Freddy could see Naughton had to go back and not Lobb, not only for experience in playing down there but to provide some intercept and a bit of speed. This weeks game Libba goes down, our hardest in an under player. I am not as enamoured with West as some here, but surely in the 3rd quarter when we were getting out muscled West should have been thrown in there for 10 minutes to at loeaset see if we could change that.

As for selections, yes too many melts over 1 c grader v another. However, when what you notice what you have in your post and we play our best forcing turnovers or contested ball and quick ball movement why do we keep pick 3 or 4 defenders who are poor disposers of the ball and are not quick by foot. Yes too many times in those runs of goals by opposition have we seen us missing simple shots to stem the tide and turn it around. However, we could also set up to attack back from our backline to change the game too. Ironically it is our opposition moving the ball from our forward line that creates a lot of the opposition goals. More frustrating is results time after time re showing when we set up for more run we have a higher winning percentage by a fair margin than we do when we do not as we did yet again on the weekend

Totally agree. Bevo remaining is the least of our concerns given the pathetic structure we have in place currently. In actual fact we have failed him by not having robust system around him and allowing him too much control of most football decisions.

For me, it's no surprise the CEO is the one now trying to push out the coach as he has realised that it's his pathetic job at overseeing the club's football operations that has led us here. His arrogance last year and earlier this year suggesting that an external review wouldn't have uncovered anything different to their fabled comprehensive internal review was disrespectful to us fans. My preference at this stage would be an external review followed by replacements of Ameet, Luke Darcy on the Board (nepotism much!) and Chris Grant before we address the coaching situation.

Just on Grant, its ridiculous that in his time as Football boss he has failed to address coaching failures twice (2014 and now 2023), and practically leaving it to the players to do his job.

Beveridge intimated last week in his presser that if/when Bont was tagged, he would go forward, as a "6 foot 4" mid going forward would be a challenge. I know Liber went down, but Bont could have pushed forward for a short period with a mid rotation of Treloar, Macrae and Smith/West.
Was there any attempt to shake Bont's tag, or even Liber's while still in the game?

Could have even gone West to Newcombe for 10-15 mins and Bont to FF to drag Sicily away.

Like, TRY SOMETHING.
