Yep because Bigfooty is the place where no one rants and everyone contributes to their team's results :thumbsu:. What is this site for if not mouthing off about things that we think are ludicrous?
What else is this site for?
An avenue for our friends to make fun of us for reading and posting on it.

Lol Bonts prime.
Libba snrs prime?
Dougies prime?
West snrs prime?
Johnos prime?
EJs prime?
You kids are hilarious with the drama game.

The club’s failure to compete at the pointy end of finals should be accepted as the norm, so we should just be thankful Bont plays for us and not demand better from the club?

I’m not entirely sure what the point is here.

But I’d say Bontempelli is in the top 5 of AFL players who have played the game in the last 15-20 years, and I’m not sure that’s even that controversial. To have anything other than high expectations when he’s your captain and best player should be unacceptable imo.

I don't know about that. We tried our guts out tonight. Our system just doesn't stack up against good sides.
Agree with this. He just doesn't seem as technically savvy as his peers.
He is an emotion based operator, which is what annoys people because it's not durable over a long period.
It works for short bursts and then wears off.

Our recruiting team has something to answer for as well.

The fact that we don’t have a single AFL ready genuine small forward on this list who can actually apply pressure and contribute to a proper functioning forward line is a disgrace.

West is our best and he is absolutely not a genuine small forward. He should be having a run through the middle when we are getting fisted through there.
Frankly, I think a lot of this falls on Bevo as well. The problem doesn't stop at small forwards - we have had an inside mid crisis (too many) since 2021 and yet it was Bevo's decision alone to convert Caleb Daniel, a functionally excellent defender with and without the ball, into another inside mid. We lack key defenders meanwhile rolling through four key forwards on a frequent basis, two of whom have the capacity to swing back. We haven't developed a genuine high half forward until now, with West, despite the importance of the role in modern footy. And I would argue that Bevo's insistence on positional versatility above all else, despite having its merits, has prevented us from developing an AFL-quality winger post Hunter. Bailey Williams comes closest but he's still better in the back 6.

I haven't bought into the AFL media narrative that the Dogs have underperformed with a top 4 list. The excellence of our frontline talent belies a fundamentally unbalanced team. Everyone knows that football games tend to be decided by the strength of your worst 6 players, and ours are usually a problem.

Great post. You’re spot on.

How is Luke Beveridge going to solve Australia's housing crisis?
He is sending all the Dogs supporters mad, which means we will end up in asylums conveniently freeing up all our existing housing for those unfortunate Essendon homeless people.
