Geez, I must of watched a different game from everyone else.

Gilmore - thought he played well, certainly one of the better players for Freo today.

Other mentions, McPharlin -(hell I don't even have to pump him up, he just played well), Hayden played well, shows what a class player he is.

As to Pav and Tarrant, you can't blame them for the crap ball they were receiving, wiz played well down the wing, though I was worried when I saw him starting to lay into a player.

Schammer, what are you guys smoking, and why the hell aren't you sharing. Schammer, yes he may of had a couple of bung kicks, but ffs look at what else he did.

Final comment.

I think we lost the game with wayyyyyy too many turnovers, if we can tighten this up, we're on to something, again, where is Warnock - he has got to be injured to of missed this game.

Gilmore, I swear he must be a triplet - he was everywhere on the field.

Should make for an interesting week next week, and I am sooooo excited to be able to see the game live. Rock on Freo - and really, round 1 - but we've got a long way to go, and hopefully if they fix up the turn overs we will be there in September.

Gaspode "Woof Woof"

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Skills today were absolutely deplorable. Pav doesn't deserve to be stuck in a team with the skill level and decision making of an under 9's wooden spoon team. I'm surprised we haven't landed him in hospital the way everyone seems determined to kick the ball over his head forcing him to double back into the oncoming traffic.

McManus is seriously useless. Adds nothing to the team except for occasionally getting on the end of others' hard work for easy goals - and even then he nearly f**ks it up. I almost put the remote through the tv when he tripped over his own feet to concede the first goal. He tries hard but has absolutely no quality to back it up. And if trying hard is all that was required then we'd all be playing AFL.

Don't even get me started on Taz. Which f**king genius thought it would be a good idea to recruit yet another mentally fragile, inconsistent player to our club? At least Solly and Mark Johnson look like they are willing to bleed for the jumper. Tarrant doesn't even look like he gives a f**k.

Same old, same old. Put in a near enough is good enough effort for the 1st three quarters only to fold like a bunch of f**king softc*cks when the pressure was really on in the last quarter.

I'm so pissed off right now. I think I'll go score a bag of weed to calm me down before I write anything I might regret later.

Great post Esti!

Fair call. But, Schammer I stand by his problem is delivery.
Mate the turnover disease is ours and always has been.
I can't see them changing that in a week.
Tarrant can't kick straight. M Carr is a dinosaur.
No-one in the midfield is a one touch player, Pavlich and Headland aside.
Very disappointing performance, with way too many dinosaurs AGAIN in the midfield.

Black injured definitely hurt us, we lost a lot of run and penetration and I think I almost threw up when I saw that McManus, Mark Johnson and Matt Carr were all in the team today and they didn't fail to disappoint.

actually thought gilmore was allright today, love the way he backs himself to run and carry through the middle, tho faded a bit with the rest of the team. des got better the further the game went
mcpharlin was easily b.o.g. for the dockers and im not really sure why he wasnt switched to rocca before he was needed up forward?

didnt rate mark johnsons game as highly as others, got too little of the ball and always looked like giving away free kicks in defence - he needs to be better for someone of his age/pace/height to stay in the team.

definite mistake not to play warnock and ibboston/palmer

Palmer and Ibbo in the midfield is a no brainer, Mayne needs a spot and I would almost stick Hinkley in as well - better option than Macca or Matt Carr.

Macca, M.Carr need to go after todays last chances. Walnock needs to play too.

Errrr.... we have been copping this sh*t for years. I still cannot sleep a night before a Freo game. We are entitled to expect more with the talent we have.

Don't call me a Richmond fan you tool.

We have been accepting (and praising even) mediocre players like McManus for too long.

I agree Kenny. It's time to stop mollycoddling the players with hope when they've had their chance for years.

And the thing is, yes, a first year player might not have won the game for us, but blokes like Palmer had a pretty good pre-season - better than Carr and McManus. Yet the old players get rewarded based on time served. Where's the pressure on the 22 to perform if they know guys who have not performed in seasons can still roll up for a game?

All I'm asking is that the pressure is put on each player to be good each week, whether the team wins or loses. But it seems for a few players, the pressures off.

Why don't we just play 1 year olds if you want youth.
Oh for f**ks sake!

I want GOOD players. I want to GOOD players rewarded. I want players who have shown something in practise matches (Palmer), occasional games (Warnock, Ibbotson) to be rewarded, I want them exposed to AFL level.

And I want some of the senior players who haven't performed at senior level for some time feel that the pressure is on.

Is that too much to ask, or should I expect the same crappy team be picked onwards into next season? Can we still bring back Jimmy Walker?

Yep I was thinking exactly the same thing. Tarrant has cost Freo Polak, Medhurst and a first round pick in the 06 super draft. Neither Polak or Medhurst are world-beaters, but I think its fair to say that they are both playing better than Tarrant at the moment, and that's not even counting the first round pick!!

And he seems to have fu#ked up a forward line which looked extremely dangerous before his arrival. Murphy and Pav looked a great combo but now Murphy is playing for South Freo and your forward line looks about as dangerous as Adelaide's. Today was an indifferent, frankly appalling performance by Tarrant. Seriously to get 6 possies against frikkin Wakelin is just not AFL standard. Even bloody Courtney Johns would've got more of the ball. This goalless performance means that he has scored a paltry 6 goals in his last 8 games, which is just shocking.

I hope for your (freo supporters') sanity that neither Polak, Medhurst or whoever you would've picked up at 13 has a brilliant career because this appears to be an absolute shocker of a trade.

persisting with garbage?

Schammer/Peake/CROWLEY/Tarrant/Mcmanus/Ma.Johnson/M.Carr/

Watching these guys let alone playing them all together... That will undo and destroy anything... Who cares if schammer got loose ball? he is slow and his disposal is rubbish. He gets the loose ball, lets the opposition catch up and man up then kicks over a players head. Peake same thing, runs backwards and puts his team under pressure always my god did anyone notice collingwoods slowest player dane swan bolt away from peake in the last quarter... surely people must see this madness of having all of these guys playing together, maybe a few can be tweaked but wow they all really cant be excused for this on the first day of a season. Crowley identical to schammer and peake too... slow and if he ever does manage ti kick its always a high ball that puts us further under the pump...

By the way does anyone else think that just maybe Sandi isnt quite as good or useful as others seem to think? Warnock as No.1 ruckman by next year i think...

For those knobs who say palmer wont fix it straight away... yeah your probably right... but at least its a conscious effort to progress our club.

Mayne/Palmer/Ibbotson/Warnock IN!!!!!

And when some of these supposedly good young players come in, they do nothing. (Apart from warnock)

So? At least the pressure's on. Either they turn out good, or other players are at least performing to keep their spot. If you reward preseason form, form in the WAFL, and form on field, then you're building a team that is competitive and hard.

If you leave half-hearted players in the squad based on reputation, then you build a mediocre team that struggles to make the finals each year, when it actually has the quality to do so.

Sadly I think FFC had lost this game before the bounce down due to Harvey's selection policy.

FFC had a dissapointing year in 2007 with guys like Matt Carr, MacManus, Sandilands, Mundy all under performing. Is it any suprise that todays result was also a dissapointment? The team was identical to last season, so why did anyone think things would be different.

I thought Harvey did a reasonable job when he took over last season. But any many ways his decisions at the selection table prior to round 2 will determine what kind of coach he will become for FFC.

Harvey must weild the axe. McManus, Sandilands, M Carr, Mundy, Johnson all out. Bring in some yound blood.

Cuddles Connoly's big weakness was that he played favourties with underperforming players.

If Harvey is going to run with a "same old same old" policy then he is not the coach for us.

I agree but Mundy was good and is one of the very few players we have that can kick the ball straight, hence is one of our important players.

Mundy out? Don't think so..... I'm having trouble with those calling for Gilmore to be dropped as well. Both were in our better players today. I want to see Ibbo, Palmer, Warnock and even Campbell play too, but we need to be looking in the direction of M Carr, Macca and although I've been a supporter in the past, Tas.
