If Bruce is fit I think he's probably physically best able to keep Hawkins occupied so would come in at TOBs expense. Gardner to Cameron. Both Bruce and Gardner to stick to their opponents like the proverbial sh1t to a blanket.

Where I think there is some scope for change (other than Treloar who surely comes in for McSteal) is in the form of a lock down role on one of their dangerous smalls. I'm thinking the speed of VDM on Stengle. Simply lockdown. Always goal side, don't care if you don't have a possession just make sure he doesn't get any/many and doesn't get out the back. Duryea and Red to carve up Myers and Close between them and Jones to use his judgement and go where required.

I'd like to systematically take away their scoring options and win stoppages as the twin first orders of business. If we can limit scoring options and combine that with midfield dominance we probably win.

A required improvement in our conversion rate is self evident and requires little explanation or expansion but I wouldn't be making any personnel changes there. I think we persevere because one game it'll click and we'll apply the scoreboard pressure we crave.

Perhaps JOD gets a run as sub in case we need to reinforce the defense at some point, depending on how the mids and stoppages are going and how much ball the cats are getting.

I’ve been critical of West on here but I’d be strongly in favour of dropping Weightman (who has been atrocious for a month now other than the 4th quarter last week) and giving West his spot. Let him play pressure forward and push up for stints in the middle when needed.

Out: Weightman, TOB, McNeil (to sub)
In: West, Crozier, Treloar

If Treloar is back how will he get any stints in the midfield? Bont, Libba, Macrae, Daniel, Treloar, Smith

I think this might be the single worst idea I’ve ever read.

Comfortably the most brainless player on our list who I would not trust to tie his own shoelaces. No way would I be putting him in a new position and tasking him with minding the oppositions best small forward.

Would only be for the purpose of changing things up when required (as Macrae and Daniel only seem to be part time mids as it is). His primary role would be forward

It will be interesting if Treloar comes in how that will affect positioning of Baz. Baz has probably been our best player over the past month since Treloars injury. I like Baz in the CB's more than Treloar, I do hope both players can adapt a little more to playing roles when not on ball.

McNeil has to go out. Since Round 6 he’s averaging just 40 minutes on the ground. Making him sub is a waste, needs to find form and it can’t be easy when you’re barely playing.

VFL options are very slim. If Treloar isn’t available, I’d give Charlie Clarke a go. He hasn’t impressed but can’t do much worse than the others and we’ll be able to see how he goes when playing with the seniors.

Come now, I've had much worse ideas than this.

Besides, if he has been playing at the back in the VFL then the position is not entirely new to him. Perhaps at the level but he wouldn't be the lone ranger there.

It is a specific role I'm advocating with very limited parameters.

Happy to disagree on what a fit VDM could bring to the side.

We have a couple issues with the sub.

First is Beveridge has said a few times he doesn’t like the sub and it should just be another interchange player. He has also talked about not liking taking someone off and the impact doing that may have on them. Which suggests he is worried about hurting peoples feelings.

The second is that we don’t have a sub type player. The best subs tend to impact with speed through the lines such as wing or midfield which provides an avenue through zones and congestion when other players are tiring. Most of the players we have who can do that are or have been injured most of the year.

I think the next 2 games define our season if we beat the Cats and Port and dare I say it we will in a prime position for top 4 finish. The dees recent form has been average and they miss Oliver like we would miss The Bont.

If somehow, we finish fourth I hope we play the pies not the lions up there. The last time we had a home state final was the GF in 2016. I know looking to far ahead is dangerous but need to look forward after losing a game that was there for the taking against the GC.

Did you watch Khamis yesterday??

On SM-G996B using BigFooty.com mobile app

I take it you didn't watch the VFL then Khamis will be lucky to play a game this year miles off it

His form has been otherwise decent + played in a crap team. Don’t have to look much further than Arty to see that some players could stand out more at a higher level. JOD had a bit of a better game last night but has mostly been carried the last few weeks & I’d back Khamis to have more of an impact, either forward or back.

Ideally I’d prefer a smaller/medium type come in in place of a 3rd/4th tall, but the cupboard is pretty bare

Again have you watched the VFL?

His form has not been good at all been kicking a couple late goals when the games finished but missing like yesterday when it is there to be won

Agreed. Never like going with the same sub too often. Four times sub in 5 weeks, hard task to stay in form with no continuity. Going back to the VFL is the best idea I think.

A little bit of a shame for him because I thought he was great in his first game as sub against Freo and thought he was good in his full game against Hawthorn and was unlucky to lose his spot but Libba was ready to come back in. Hadn't had the same impact as sub for the last few games and looked well off the pace last night.

Living up to your namesake there OD but we can’t afford to look anywhere past the next game.

Yesterdays upsets shows any team can win on any day and right now there’s not much between those in the top 8 and those outside.

We’ve got GWS, Freo and Hawks in Tassie again this year. All of those teams had really solid wins this weekend and all of those would be massive danger games as well.

Right now I see more chance of us dropping out of the 8 then finishing top 4.

Agree to disagree. We were way off the pace in the first 2 games but since then 7 wins and 2 far from bad losses. To lose by 14 points after hitting the front in the last quarter against Port on their home deck is an acceptable effort. Last night we won all the stats but the most important one the scoreboard against a team much better primed for the conditions.

I am confident enough to say we are good enough to make top 4 except it as been a hoodoo under Bevo. I cannot see us missing the 8 unless we get a bad run of injuries.
