Think jj will receive a lot of attention next week. If you take him out of the game we look a lot slower! Confident we can compensate though! Keen to see adcock next week too with the inevitable resting of Boyd.
You try and negate JJ and you let Biggs/Boyd/Murphy off the leash, it's a difficult one for teams as you pretty much have to stop all of them but you can't really do that without destroying your own gameplan.

Other than goal kicking which is an issue, we were never troubled and dominated the game.

How we have so many negative posts on this thread is staggering.

Adams 》》》》》》》》》talia

Why insult Adams by mentioning Talia in the same sentence as him? Why?:D

Seriously. We are doing well but we haven't beaten anyone yet. Freo in free fall losing at home last years spooners. Saints lost to a club that got flogged a week later.

Really excited to see how we go against the Hawks. They will attempt to bash us up next week interesting to see how we cope.

A real danger game with Nick's 300th and the Maddie focus etc. Great comerradery between the teams all week and on the day which was a nice touch....

Great pressure throughout which was pleasing... Only negative was poor kicking for goal. We should have won by 70-80 to be honest

Loved JJ's intercept at the critical point in the game - Game changing play !!!

Loving the fact that we are defensively conceding 35-40 points a game....

Bring on next week. That will be a massive test

A few players looked gassed pretty early, this style of play can't be sustained all season but wow, our defence is miserly!

For all the negative comments & yeah there was some easy options missed & bad execution occasionally - 485 possies at 79%

I think it's the midfield and forward pressure that is the catalyst though. So dominant in winning out of the middle and then teams struggle to work the ball out of defence.

It'll be interesting to see how that style holds up against a mature, quality defence with a well drilled game plan.

I was really worried pre tonight's game.

Saints were good last week, and with it being N Roo's 300th...

Oddly i feel more confident about next week. No idea why!

Either way will be very interesting to see how we go...

That 79% is pretty misleading I'd say. Lots of chipping low risk stuff that didn't move the ball forward.

Good win by the dogs, like many on here pre game I was nervous the Saints were somehow gonna scrap out a win. Went to last week's game and both games had moments of inefficiency. Can't fault the effort of the 22 players though, but hope they can iron out some of that decision making when the ball comes into the centre square from the wing. We seem to continue to look sideways instead of a long kick to an open player. Happened at least a hand full of times last week, and (hard to tell watching it on tv tonight) looked like it happened at least a couple of times again.

Special mention to Rough who has had a solid start to the season, hope he can keep improving in his roll. JJ, Adams, libba, love your work boys.

Edit: foxnews report said that was only the 2nd time saints have been kept to less than 38 points. Not sure if that's just at Etihad or what, but that should erase the talk of last year's 65point turn around

We were 8 months younger and 12 games less experienced on average.

"We're two years behind in our rebuild" - Saints fans.
Yep and we won by 10 goals comfortably.

McLean played a great game for a player yet to play 10 games yet he apparently plays for frees. I get caution after our wins but bagging individuals by our own supporters when we did not have a passenger, there are some interesting supporters on big footy

Memo to Saints fans:

Hunter and McLean are both already better than Billings.

Seriously, we won't have to worry about playing St Kilda in finals for a while. Carried by old men with only an average group of youngsters who are unable to rise to the occasion. The Saints will not be serious contenders without another full rebuild.

Always nice to beat the saints.

Stevens and picken give us a lot of muscle and will quietly have sold years of footy.

Adams what a great start to his career. In the air or at ground level he just showed everything he's got tonight.

McLean very strong in the air tonight and stood up when someone needed to a few times.

Boyd played his best game yet. Getting to more contests and getting his arms free. Only a matter of time now before he really does break out. Solid game tonight and again worked his way in to it.

Daniel is a star with his composure and ball use. Excellent goal too.

JJ is electric. Love watching him play.

Libba/Wallis great. Biggs/JJ/Murphy great. Roughy won the ruck again, showing improvement with a consistent role. Love having a ruck that isn't a spud too it really does make a difference. Macrae/Bont underrated games. Few mistakes but didn't allow any run on from St Kilda midfielders in the centre of the ground.

Suckling left boot can really break open the gane at times. Got caught with it a couple of times but you have to take that with him. Settling in really well though.

Maybe a rest for young Dunkley this week. Love the kid but a few weeks in the VFL to get some touches will do him no harm. Glad he's had a taste of it though, will be an important player for us over the years. Has a great set of hands.

Defensive unit playing well together. Midfield unit the same. Forward line can tell a few are missing but wow I am excited. Bring on the Hawks next week!!!
