I actually think we deliberately played different tonight in preparation for teams like the hawks and west coast. We gave them more space at the contest from last week and usual. The pressure was there, but not as full on with heaps of players running in to shut it down. I think it was a deliberate ploy as the big guns tend to play wider from the scrap. Hence I believe alot more sloppy with the ball, but I think will serve a purpose come playing teams like hawks cats and eagles. Best part our defence. Worst part our kicking into forward 50.

McLean played a great game for a player yet to play 10 games yet he apparently plays for frees. I get caution after our wins but bagging individuals by our own supporters when we did not have a passenger, there are some interesting supporters on big footy

To be fair I also said in the same post "McLean is fast becoming a gun". One can appreciate a player while simultaneously acknowledging a (current) limitation. It can be eradicated too if you get to it early. Hunter used to be a massive player for frees. These days he's doing a lot less of it.

Plenty to work on and the Saints kept pushing us till the 4th so got to give them credit.

There where a few tired blokes at the end I wonder if we will bring in some fresh legs against the Hawks next week?

I'm already petrified about next week because it's another bogey team... We will need to be a lot sharper, finish better etc. if we are going to get the 4 points against the Hawks. They have been an okay side for the last 8 odd years....

But congrats to the boys we got the 4 points and at this stage of the season that's all that matters.

We've absolutely belted two teams - neither of them complete no-hopers - without playing with our absolute best.

I'd say it's been hard for us to play at our best because we've delivered such a mental and physical battering to the opposition that we haven't had to. It's hard to maintain the highest standards when the opposition drag you down.

Actually want a team to give us a proper contest to see where we're at.

I loved that Richardson and the Saints when in with last year's gameplan hoping to stifle things up again and keep it close. They must have got a rude surprise around the clearances. We are animals for the football now. Wild dogs.

OK, I'm starting to think Bonts has a photo of Champion Data rooting a dog! But glad to see Libba's game recognised. I can't get over how smoothly he's slotted back in.
But it was a pretty good game when you think about it. He constantly disposed of the ball, won the ball in contested situations and had high metres gained.

We're blessed with such a unique player in the Bont in regards to being a both an elite metres gained player but also an elite contested ball/break tackles player. There's literally no-one else in the league like him. All the other great contested ball players (Kennedy, Priddis, Cripps etc.) are low metres gained players and all the high metres gained players are typically your half back flank and wingmen types who have like only a 20% contested possession rate.

Last week was the highest disposal count in the clubs history, at 498.
This week was the second highest disposal count in the clubs history, at 482.
We need a thread for club records ........ boydshow ?

If anyone who knows how to make gifs/youtubes of Caleb Daniel selling his candy and goaling I'll be your best friend.

Suckling wasn't that bad but he does like to take his time & sit back admiring his handiwork. Think he drinks his bathwater a little, hopefully Bev beats that out of him like he did with Hunter

Normally like typing up a good essay after these sorts of wins, but Assignments have a hold on me
That Champion Data link above tells me something tremendous. Wood and Dunkley are down in the lower scores there but by no means had bad games. Wood on a usual stellar day is up there but was a tad off early; still put in the regulation saving intercepts. And Dunkley exhibited ridiculous marking ability today.
JJ's intercept had me frothed too

But theirs one player I'd just like to take my hat off tonight
Koby Stevens is tonights unsung hero for mine. Was tremendous
Some games he plays a standout but on nights like tonight, talk about Macrae going about his business, the Shark was all about doing it quietly.
What he brings to the team I believe can't be questioned, in my opinion his top rate work would be up in best 10 players at some other clubs but we have so many outstanding players that he's probably around 10-15+, but boy do I appreciate it.
His stoppage work is up to the high standard our team is going with, But one particular vision from a replay was telling; He plays the excellent role where any of our capable players have gone in for the initial hardball but on the occasion it spills out, he readily goes in hard for the second scrap and gets it out to other waiting players. Also easily capable of being the first to go in, Did everything else well tonight
Keep at it Koby, setting the standard for the players outside the best 15

I thought Biggs played well

Another great win lead by our defenders. Adams is an absolute freak and fits our defensive structure perfectly. Roughy was great again too, it's his spot to lose now.

Missed too many opportunities in front of goal, which is something I hope we fix up next week. Positives outweigh the negatives today for sure.

Stringer propped himself up against the race wall at the end and was dry wretching/retching. Poor little fella

He's got some sort of issues with his gut. Grabbed it after the JJ steal goal. I remember him going off vs the crows last year after kicking 6 goals for the same thing.

I was pumped when we drafted Adams but boy oh boy wowee talk about exceeding expectations

Dunkley has some incredibly sticky mitts on him, love that kid

I love Caleb Daniel

JJ will be All Australian

Interesting to see St Kilda players taking our players out way off the ball two or three times I guess in an attempt at intimidation, should prepare us well for Hawthorn

Can't shake the nagging feeling that we lack a bit of a ruthless streak, yet we've won both games by ten goals so I'm obviously pretty happy at the mo
