Don't think anyone's mentioned liam Picken. I thought he played brilliantly. Would have had mark of the year had he held onto it. He's just the quiet achiever who consistently works without kudos, but was especially impressed with him last night. We should call him BHP.

Last week was the highest disposal count in the clubs history, at 498.
This week was the second highest disposal count in the clubs history, at 482.
Where did you get the stats Igloo? Would be great to have a thread on records we break but I wouldn't know how

Has Toby McLean found out he is a distant cousin to Ashton Hams
and the Selwoods, something about his game style has changed
this year and not for the better. #putahelmetonnextweek.

I was surprised at how many Scraggers were upset with the waxing to ice the last few minutes of the clock. We're 10 goals up, no need to expend any further energy unnecessarily when the opponents have no capacity to a) win the footy of us b) influence the result if we make an error. There are times where it is OK to chip it around and hang onto the ball, that is one of them.

Perhaps instead of whinging, pretend you are an Argentinian soccer fan and OLE every pass. It'll be better for your blood pressure.

With the game well in hand, I have no doubt that was a deliberate tactic instigated for times when games are in the balance and we need to 'ice the clock.' Something that Richmond could learn from.

Although it was looking doubtful late in the 3rd, I managed to make it out of the ground and eventually home alive.

St.Kilda supporters are bar none the worst, most humorless, barely human and incredibly deluded supporters in the competition.

Tough on our Richmond friends. Really tough.

People should be happy with Tom Boyd's game tonight. Presented really well, took some strong marks, kicking for goal has improved out of sight, and was justifiably rewarded for being monstered by St Kilda's full backs.

Go dogs.

Granted there was some improvement but i was a bit disappointed with his efforts against one of the poorer defenders in the AFL. There were a number of simple marks dropped that i think we have a right to expect a high draft pick to take (meaning he was a high draft pick because of the talent and ability he has) and he seems to be unsettled when body contact is made which in AFL football he should expect every contest. Against better teams and defenders the pressure will go up several notches.

I am not saying he should be dropped and i like that he is getting better, i just expected him to perform better given the standard of his opponent. He needs to cash in when these opportunities present.

North games are like a commission flat reunion party.

Anyway watched the game last night and Dogs look like a top 4. Fast , fast , fast. Will beat anyone in the comp on their day. This could be the year if all goes well. You lucky mongrels.

Although I am fond of using hyperbole for effect, I wasn't in this case. As bad as Richmond fans are, the Saints are much...much worse in my experience.

It's funny you say that norm because they are saying the same thing about us on their board.
We really don't like each other haha

I went to the Bulldogs intra club match and I honestly can't believe the improvement in Marcus Adams' foot skills. It's scary. I honestly thought (along with others) that it would be a liability and maybe the reason why he would struggle to hold down a position In the side. But his last two weeks have been as good as any key defenders in the game.

You could literally make a comparison between him and every dominant key defender in the game because he seems so unique in the fact he's got so many strings to his bow. He has the ability to read the play and run off his opponent like Rance. The intercept marking ability of Brian Lake. The ability to get fist to ball like Gipson. And the ability to play on tall and small such as Dale Morris in his prime.

My favourite play of the game though was when he started 5 yards behind Lonie when the ball was kicked inside the forward 50. He somehow caught him for pace and rag dolled him and managed to get up, handball it out and then get back on the end of it. It was simply stunning.

And the happiest person out of all this will be Dale Morris, no longer are we so reliant on him to have to carry the load of a Fletcher Roberts or a Michael Talia, it will mean he will have someone down there that he can trust. And mozz won't always have to go to the #1 forwards now.

Don't want to sound like a know all , even though I know all ,
But Adams was never a poor kick , his teqnique is very sound as I pointed out pre season.
As he feels more comfortable in his surroundings I always felt that would be the least of his problems as an AFL footballer.
Also have to have a crack at all you blokes wanting Fletch to play in front of this bloke.
Was never going to happen , this guy is a massive up grade .

Can Shane Biggs get a bit of appreciation? Played as a key defender tonight and did it with aplomb. Was on St Nick for a large portion of the game and rarely lost. Also floated in front of the leading player many times taking grab after grab. What a brilliant pick up he's been.

When we first grabbed him, I thought he'd just be some good flanker depth, and for the first half of last year I thought he just took the easy option with a bomb down the line or a 25m pass to a stationary target. But we can see he's grown in confidence immensely, obviously from having guys like JJ and Bob around to learn from.

Absolutely stoked for him, as I did plenty of media work with him when he first got to the swans and I initially thought he was absolutely no chance of making it. Way to make me look like a dick, Biggsy.
What was it, through your media work, that made you think he wouldn't make it? I caught a couple of his games at Sydney and he always gave good run. Was pleased when we got him for free.

Agree we realy miss that set shot
Just having Crameri and Dickson out generally affects our accuracy. Forwards being forwards don't just know how to finish but, especially in crameri's case, are paid to. Shame we won't see Stu this year but hopefully next year we can have at least Bob and morris go round again and we can come back with Crameri basically a new recruit.

I don't think the Saints were that bad - we were just too good at getting and holding on to the ball. It looked messy at times but watching the game again this morning it was amazing how we created turnovers around the ball.

On the saints - yes they are behind in their build but they have some good young players - McCartin will be very good and Goddard to come in. They lack distributors and strong utilities - ended up playing Gilbert on Bont and it kind of worked but robbed them of a good player in Defence. Will be interesting to see them fill the gaps.

Hats off to Roughy - I had him well behind Campbell and Will but he won the ruck well both weeks and is starting to impose himself around the ground.

Next week we are going to have a different challenge - Freo try to control the mid with huge on ballers and good stoppage play. Saints try to use their speed to out run you. We handled both and now we meet a team based on leading structure and skills under pressure - almost the opposite of Saints . Clearly biggest challenge yet but I bet Stringer, Bonti, Hunter and Daniel will have crackers - because of their unpredictability.

Footscray won by 100 points and some will push hard for inclusion - Dale with seven likely for Dunkley (great hands yes but look at his inside work - tackling and dishing smart handballs - stunning). Webb and Adcock also in the mix. Hamling was great too again apparently - he is in the weird position of deserving his spot - but how do you touch a Defence averaging under 10 points per quarter?

Not sure who else might push through unless an injury or planned rotation of a senior guy or kid.

Serious entries into the dribble kick file - there must be some punishment for this? Shampooing woofer?

It was just on the AFL match centre page where they note down the goals and stats of interest. There's usually some interesting stuff in there each week.

I can't stand fletch. If we are a finals contender than fletch should never put on the dogs jumper again. It's very harsh but it's the honest truth unfortunately.

Since we're blowing our own trumpet (somewhat earlier than I like) you weren't the only one not worried about Adams kicking KH. I was positive it was all about picking up the pace of the game and he would flourish. So far so good....
