I’m as down on the ruck situation as anyone - I’m a broken record about it - but maybe we litigate that later in the week. If it costs us a flag (which it might) then it’ll expose it even further as a weakness, but even my negative slant on our performances has been pummelled into submission by that epic effort.

Tomorrow I’ll vent about the ruck, poor forward entries, decision making, selection integrity and a few other things. But for now I’m going to follow my six beers with a bottle of Pinot and then see how I go as I watch the replay.

Go dogs!!!!!!!!!!
I'm of the opinion that regular missed shots (either set, or in play) could cost us more dearly.

Not pointing fingers, but Brisbane got into 4th on the back of just two goals difference over the course of a year, and last night's result and post-game discussion would have been very different if Duryea hadn't performed his Superman impression.

They had missed opportunities, I know, but at least a couple of ours, if taken instead of missed, would have made Taylor's effort a not so huge point in the game.

Mitch Robinson having a bit of a sook on Twitter, sayings he’s holding back on tweeting the some honest sh*t. Talk about a sore loser.
When we blew top four, no one came out and blamed anyone else or made excuses.

Brisbane were pretty lucky to pinch their spot and had their chances all night and they didn’t take them. Tough.

If only Duryea instead of Zaine at Kardinia this year

Zaine did bloody well. There were no Doggy players with cooee, and if he'd kicked it along the boundary and out of bounds, the umps would have pinged him, just like they did with Caleb last night.

Duryea was outstanding, and Cordy would not likely have done nearly as well, but to imply that Zaine's performance was poor (maybe you're not, indeed, Taylor MAY have done better) in that critical moment against Geelong is not right. The rest of the backline, and their positioning, is at least as equally to blame.

Holy moly I may not sleep tonight....

Gutsy effort. A few things went our way in that last qtr but you need some luck and that was reward for hanging in there.
Think it was reward for effort they didn't stop busting a$$ all night. We had a brief period of dominance in the last and made them pay

They’re no Roughy/Boyd combo but we have no real option other than English/Young so let’s just accept it for what it is and hope we can rove to Max Gawn in two weeks

Just about everybody (including me) thought that Boyd was gonna get monstered by Mumford after Roughy went off in the Prelim in 2016. For me, it was the turning point in the whole finals series for us.

Did you see the stat that the Lions have lost 6 games at the Gabba over the last 3 years and 4 of those games have been in finals?

That is damning.

Baz Smith is such a stud. If he cleaned up his disposal inside 50 he'd be an absolute weapon
Couple of times Shack made great position and got burned in the last. Smith was the guilty party at least once. He will get better with experience

I can't believe people are crying foul about the ruck situation when we had more hitouts to advantage, more clearances, and that probably counterbalances the couple they kicked from the centre clearances in the 1st half.

We won thanks to English battling there, winning hitouts late and being threatening enough that OMac felt compelled to block him. Far from being a weakness we worked around, it was actually a strength in the match.

Remember how many of us wanted him delisted last season? I think majority of us were guilty of viewing him as a bit of a list clogger, but fu** me I think he's actually best 22 at this point
Roarke had a few mates who were labelled list cloggers by many. I wonder if they are on the table for delisting/trading now?

Josh Schache come on down.

Lions are all offence they don't have an ounce of defensive capability. So if they can't dominate the clearances they will give you opportunities. One way runners for the most part and get burnt if there is any break down

I agree with you. I think on the post mortem thread for the Geelong game I said it wasn’t his fault he was last man standing and did as much as he could. But I also said on that occasion if it was Williams we probably win, not because of Zaines effort but just Williams evasiveness, agility and more powerful kicking to clear it better than Zaine. I’m not a rabid Zaine critic. But again last night showed to me that Duryea might have done better than Zaine too. But that’s in the distant past. Don’t need a conversation about that game in a celebration of last nights thread. Go Dogs!

He must be referencing the missed-call on Vandermeer's 'winning point' play where Starcevich did everything but plonk a saddle on him.

I feel ya Robbo, I'm seething too mate.

Yeah someone responded asking if he was referring to the Caleb deliberate call. Triggered a few Lions fans
