Has anyone live streamed AFL or cricket etc on an international flight lately?
Family leaving Sunday for Thailand. Pies vs Snowtown Mullets United at about 1.30pm AEST. Singapore airlines has Wi-Fi and in economy it's about $15/3 hrs...

I don’t think you need to worry. Hawkins will never stop playing footy.

i wish ...i just dont like that slimy, un-australian, HR engineered, teflon-coated earnestness that he brings to the screen. it's like something that AI would engineer to fit every woke requirement in broadcasting. I'd even prefer that broken down train-wreck Mark Robinson, who even though I tend to fast forward through these days, is at least a more genuine person. In fact, tonight Robbo was actually entertaining because of his embarassing old man personna. Is fox going to keep this guy until he kicks the bucket in some depressing alcohol charged wind-down to dementia?

I might be late to the party but the “Ball Magnet Podcast” hosted by Tom Mitchell are sensational (on YouTube)

Just watched the Daicos brothers then JDG, are some real down to earth insights
I only recently discovered this and have caught up some episodes. I'm becoming a very big Tom Mitchell fan both on and off the field. He does really well interviewing people.

Question the boys were asked, who would you bring out of retirement from the early 2000s (swooping magpie era)? Who would you?

I’m with Nick, Lica and Taz were my absolutely faves! Also Dids! Great era. Shame no flag came of it. Close in 2002. That was a goal from Pebbles. Maybe if score review existed then…

Dids a thousand times over.

Maybe it's been talked about before on here I'm not sure but I have long dreamt of an army of fans singing James Taylor's You've got a friend before the start of a game and I wish it was so at collingwood. Although we haven't won lots of flags we have had a number of magpie sides take us on wild rides in September and I love that that song says no matter what we will be here for you. Goodnight

I've always thought that acoustic guitars should be sold under a strict licensing system.

The proliferation of acoustic instruments in the second half of the 20th century and the decline in humanity during the same period is not a coincidence.

Bob Dylan realised this early on, switched to electric, and he was pilloried by millions of middle class hobos for his 'betrayal'. The rot had set in.

We're f*****.

Although Dylan is regarded as a significantly better acoustic than electric guitarist. You got a new neighbour or similar?

I was remarking to a musician recently that the one thing that has remained constant in this age of rising costs and inflation is marijuana - still the same price as pre covid. Guitars and some other instruments too have apparently held their price fairly static - musicians being generally lacking in funds to spend on the instruments. Be interested to hear from resident musicians, including acoustic guitarists, regarding the truth of this claim.

My interpretation of what you're saying here is that, as well as introducing a licensing system, we also need a stronger price signal to deter the purchase of acoustic guitars.

Agreed.

Let the buskers smoke their ever-cheap greenery, but they'll be left to strum their lank and greasy hair before they get those tobacco-stained fingers on an acoustic instrument.

---------------------------------------------------

I understand the problems of my proposals, not least the fact that society is already awash with millions of acoustic guitars.

There'll be a period of grace in which unlicensed guitar owners can submit their instruments to authorised bins. These will be a focus of media attention, as thousands upon thousands of guitars are crushed to a soundtrack of German death metal.

Anyone found in possession of an illicit guitar after the grace period will be subject to criminal sanction, possibly a term of incarceration in which they are subject to 23-hour lockdown and 22-hour bagpipes.

----------------------------------------------------

I bought Air Jordans in the late 1980s, somewhere around $240.

Athletic shoes these days sit at a similar figure, mostly between $2-300.

So you want to do for acoustic guitars what little Johnny did for guns in Australia?! Give the guitarists a grace period then have vehicles armed with sound detectors with a particularly sharp ear for poorly played guitars patrol the streets of suburbia and confiscate the offending instruments. Good idea! Totally unworkable but definitely worth a shot.

Robbo's appearances are part of Foxtel's community commitment to discourage kids from smoking and excess alcohol consumption. Like the cancerous tumour pics on ciggie packs.

Deflationary in fact, doing its bit to help the economy I'd say.

In the early 1990s... nearly at price parity to an ounce gold. Gold about $2k now
