I was actually at all of those eight premierships watching with my father who grew up across the street from Princes Park and attended Princes Hill Primary School....
My father even took me to the 1962 final series as a four-year-old boy and I saw the emergence under the Barrassi years... Where my blue boys suddenly became far more professional and recruited champion players like Jezza and Crosswell...
Whilst Robert walls and David McKay were developing through the reserves into great senior players...Nicholls & Silvagni were the supreme leaders that set the example through their deeds And inspirational words...
Having the Bendigo League as our recruiting zone made all the difference with champions like Southby ,Ashman & Sheldon among the choice picks of many to have been recruited whilst we had that recruiting benefit

And the rest - not forgetting that we could have had Diesel straight from the Bendigo league, and we did grab Keogh, Greg Kennedy, Des English (and before him his father Vin), Jimmy Buckley .. the list goes on.

For the lucky blues fans here who remember being at the 1970 grand final or at home listening to the game on the radio; after being so far down at half time it must have been an indescribable feeling when we sealed the game after the goal from Jezza when the ball bounced twice before going through.
Even more than 50 years after the game, listening to the 3KZ audio of the last few minutes of the game (link on blueseum) gave me a huge buzz so I can imagine what it would have been like listening to it on the day.

Was there. It was unbelievable. I also have a vinyl copy of the 3KZ call (as well as the 1968 & 1972 calls)
Was also there, sitting on some poor buggers shoulders
Would have felt no pain on the shoulders at the final siren if a blues fan!
Unlike the immortalised shoulders of Jerka Jenkins

Just like Jezza.
Watched these in recent times and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Footy really was better back then, players would kick goals from everywhere, regularly and skills in general were far better.
Players these days are not as tough, mentally, unfortunately.

1953 - When Carlton's loss saved the Gardiner Stand from oblivion
The Gardiner Stand was saved from the wrecking ball in 1953.
I listed to the '68 and '70 ones on the radio in Tassie. Great listening.Was there
I have the 3KZ records too, but no record player any more.
Went to the finals games but elected not to go to the GF as I thought we would be done.
Took my radio to the pub and listened to it, at half time I thought I had made the right decision.
Then a blistering 7 goals in 10 minutes in the third (you must watch this on YT, it's so exciting).
Great decision by Ron Barassi, 19th man Ted Hopkins, right spot, right time.

Big Nick a tower of strength resting forward takes a great grab and goals from the goal square.
Neck and neck till Tiger Crosswell put us in front from a free.
First, Jezza's towering mark in the first half, then in the last, the sealer, a non preferred left foot kick across the body from forward of the centre, it bounces through!
That night out at Princes Park, fantastic scenes.
A week or so later the screening of the GF at Princes Park, Heatley Stand packed, thousands re-living the game on a large screen, screaming our heads off.
Hope it happens for us again this year.

I remember being in Associate Members area with my Mum in Olympic Stand. My Dad was in MCC with my Grandfather.
That was when Women & Kids couldn’t be members.
