GC 2016 6 wins 78% v NM 2020 3 wins 71%
GC 2017 6 wins 76% v NM 2021 4 wins 70%
GC 2018 4 wins 59% v NM 2022 2 wins 55%
GC 2019 3 wins 60% v NM 2023 2 wins 64%

Note that we have won all of those last 4 games by 10pts or less, including the West Coast COVID win.

We would already have had 2 more Sheezel / Wardlaws on our list had the old PP have been in operation.

The GC package was below.

So all of these picks PLUS pre-listing of all Suns Academy players.

We are way worse than they were, significantly.

Surely the pre listing of Sanders and a number of mid-first round picks are in order.

Particularly under the likely scenario we will lose one or two to Tassie later.

That is stark and a reality check - the club needs to do its job and put the case forward for how much we need the assistance.

And at the same time Drive accountability of standards at a completely unparalleled level over this pre-season to culture proof the future.

Admitting we need assistance isn’t a sign of weakness it’s a sign of strength that we will use any means necessary to improve our football club. It is ruthless in its own way and should be independent of the football dept.

An increase in soft cap and some absolute A List appointments in Development and S&C need to be made.

The footy dept needs to put up. There’s no more excuses. Every person needs to get better, be relentless, every single day.

Yep the stats speak for themselves
First round pp a must and some

Over to you afl

If we don't get a PP straight after our first pick then no team will be every able to ask for a PP again. We are as bad as bad can be and if the AFL aren't going to help us then they wont be able to assist anyone.

100%. If we don’t get high first rounder and more this time, scrap the whole thing ASAP cos it is clear it isn’t close to a level playing field.

With GC getting Walters just by packaging up points + the other 2 they have on their radar, does the AFL tell them to salary dump their first rounder to us + they would ask us not to bid on Walters to also help the situation out. That way they don’t help us but they do help us?

Wouldn’t put it past them at all. CorruptFL

North Melbourne interim coach Brett Ratten as good as confirmed the Kangaroos would ask the AFL for help again after his team slumped to a demoralising loss against Hawthorn that put them at risk of claiming another wooden spoon.\

The 48-point margin flattered North, given how they were outplayed by the wasteful Hawks.

The Kangaroos started the season with optimism under new coach Alastair Clarkson, beating both West Australian teams to be 2-0, but have since lost 15 games in a row to trail the Hawks by three games.
They could yet suffer the ignominy of a third-straight wooden spoon if their percentage takes a major hit in the run home, and they lose to last-placed West Coast in a fortnight’s time.

With just nine wins from their past 76 matches, it now seems certain North will ask the AFL for assistance again, but Ratten said he would leave the talk of priority picks and special assistance to the club’s chief executive Jen Watt and others, but pointed out that “we’ve seen other teams get it”.

The league handed the Roos future second- and third-round selections last year, on the condition they were used in a trade – they were subsequently sent to Fremantle for Griffin Logue. The Roos were also allowed to have two extra rookie-list spots

“I think [those discussions are taking place], yep – but to what level and where does it go, I’m not sure,” Ratten said.
“I think, as a footy club, you look at everything, don’t you? When you’re going well, or not going so well, you try and have a look at everything.”

The Age revealed this week the Roos were still exploring options to gain access to Tasmanian midfielder Ryley Sanders, who won the Larke Medal on Sunday as the best player at the AFL under-18 Championships.

The question is has the club or will they use this as evidence in our argument for pp. Last year's deal was unacceptable, especially given the circumstances of Brad Scott taking over essendon. Do i expect us to get exactly what gold coast got? No. But we deserve a lot more than what we were given.

Guarantee it won’t go close to Gold Coast. I’d settle for a first rounder (immediately after our first pick is fine) a second rounder and access to Sanders or mckercher (both? Both!)
I know any and all of this is unlikely, I’m fully expecting we get **** all.

Although I’m fully expecting we get * all.
This is what I hope aswell. I doubt we get access to mckercher but I get the feeling we'll get sanders

If McKay leaves and we get a priority pick on top of a compo pick, there will be venom if we end up with 2, 3 and 4.

I wouldn’t care if the AFL forced us to use it on one player too.
The reality is we need to get competitive again. The list is so bad and I don’t think we’ve done bottoming out yet. I really don’t.

It's not the league, it's other clubs.

Essentially the league has to use valuable political capital everytime they sign off on draft asssistance.

It would be much easier if the draft wasn't so compromised, everyone shits a brick when a single pick gets handed out.

I do also think a first rounder means peanuts, we just need tradable assets.

Its crazy that we have the best player and two other first rounders gifted to GC, yet they are scared to give us one pick.

We should be drafting one of Walter or Reid but we can't.

I think giving us NGA access is a good compromise. The problem would be if McKercher, Sanders and Callinan are all eligible. Then teams wouldn't be happy.

I don’t think it’s all the “list being bad” anyway. You see players go to literally any other team and thrive. Mason Wood being an example, spoken about in the AA discussion. Mason freaking Wood.

There’s no use getting the best picks if we’re just going to plonk them out there and expect them to figure it out. They need to be developed. They need to be surrounded by professionalism. What have we got? McDonald as captain. Greenwood getting dropped every week. What are we showing on field? Sheezel is our best player being let down by his “leaders”.

The people in control of our club don’t seem to be that switched on. That’s all I’ll say.

How much is it talent and how much is it standards and culture that is 'enforced'?

We need players we can slot right into our best 22 and call them leaders. Our current leadership group and co-captain formula isn't working.

We can get all the priority picks and draft pool access, but if we can't get the culture right, what's the point?

It’s about all we have left
Begging the AFL for some priority picks
Pity any high end talent drafted by us
All their families will be hoping they are not drafted by the rabble that is North

We need a bunch of picks, mainly so we can cut a swathe of seniors that aren't up to it and set a new culture. That happens with bulk change.
