Exactly! And if the picks are given on the condition they must be traded, we lose all power in any negotiations, if there is someone willing to come to us, it could well end up being the team who trades them for massive overs that ends up being the real beneficiary of our PP!

I know the AFL can pretty much do whatever it likes, but PPs have never been handed out with terms and conditions like this before as far as I know, why should it start now?

If we get a pick or picks, it should be our asset to use however we see best. From what Patch said today and others have said earlier, it does seem plugging some holes in the 25-28ish age bracket is a priority. But it can surely only work if there is an appropriate player or players wanting to come to North and we can negotiate with the ability to walk away if we are getting bent over!

It could be done more fairly if we are given future picks. For example.we get pick 11 this year and pick 19 next year. Pick 19 will only be available in 2023 unless traded for a player. That way if a trade deal this year is not fair, we keep our future pick. This hasn’t happened before but the AFL are good at making things up.

Fair is hard to establish though, is market value when we have to trade fair?

Well it isn't the same system Jay, because we've been shit for 3 years. If it was, we would've received a top 3 PP for the last 3 years!

Also we beat Richmond with some luck on our side. Expected score had us losing by 6 goals!

I really haven't wanted to crap on the win. I loved it. We toughed it out. It was exactly what we needed.

However, there is a big grain of salt that is sitting right there.

There will be very very few occasions where a team has 22 shots to 33 shots and wins. It is not unheard of it is a quirk of the game but it is not common. To get a game where a team had more than an 11 shot differential and won you have to go back to 2002. So it was a rare win, for us, and in the manner in which is played out.

Any footy media using it as some sort of stick to hit us with, perhaps they need to hold fire for a couple of weeks and see how things play out.

😂😂😂😂😂 ”Bad old days” eh?.. what about only a few years ago..

The Suns already had the number one pick for this year's draft courtesy of their wooden spoon finish this season, meaning they will have access to the first two picks in the opening round of the AFL draft on November 20.

Gold Coast will also receive a mid-first-round pick in the 2020 draft, which is currently pick number 11, and a first pick of the second round (currently pick 19) in the 2021 draft.

Additionally, the Suns will receive expanded academy player access for three years, including the provision of the Darwin region as an academy zone, the ability to pre-sign academy players without bidding and an increased rookie list up to 10 players.

Just keep spreading the facts family, it’s not clickbait narrative- it’s the actual FACTS!!

But Lyon said he saw it differently.

“Everything you said was relevant, but it‘s a ‘sunk cost’. In economics once you have spent it, you never get it back. That’s gone, you can’t retrieve that. But you can take care of the future,” Lyon told Footy Classified.

“I think you get it done in a year. Do it now and then whatever else happens in the AFL expansion, North aren‘t vulnerable and they should be in good shape because they should get potentially two Pick 1s, a crack at the draft, end of the first round. You alleviate or eradicate any potential excuse for them.”

Questioned on why North should have potentially the first two picks of the draft, Lyon said: “Well it happened at the Gold Coast … They’ve been there for 10 years and had every compensation and early pick known to man. But they stuffed it up for the same reasons ‘Lloydy’.

“What does it achieve letting them wallow for another two years? Nothing.”

Lloyd responded: “How did Melbourne go with (Tom) Scully and (Jack) Trengove? It doesn’t get you anywhere. These players walk into an environment (and struggle).”

Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire agreed with Lyon, saying the Roos were a good example of a club that needed AFL assistance.

“I think they have to give this club a bit of a go before we get near Tasmania, because as soon as Tasmania, if that‘s the way they are going to go, start having priority picks then North will become the 19th of an 18-team competition,” McGuire said.

“I think there’s going to be enough diligence on the North Melbourne Football Club on their appointment of a coach and everything else. I think this is something we need to do before they get too far behind and then you are really going to have to do some work.

“I‘m against tampering with the draft – I have fought it all my life – but I think In this situation, take the pain early and get on with it and then that’s it for them.”
