Just heard an interesting discussion by the boys on 5aa with a journo Max ?? (didn't catch last name).

He told them that he had only just interviewed Port's National Recruiting Manager, Geoff Parker, who told them that he had had many discussions with Gold Coast re trading up to their picks 2 or 3.

Parker had told him that they had put 3 different scenarios for a trade of picks to Gc who had refused all 3. In turn the GC had put 3 different scenarios back to Port , none of which were acceptable to Port.

As a result Port are resigned to using their pick 5 as their first pick in the draft.

Parker also apparently said that he cannot see the Crows being able to trade up either as he believes they can offer better than what the Crows can.

Interesting.

Went to school with him, he's a funny and great guy. Lets hope the media world doesn't sour his soul!

Thanks.

What is interesting though is that Port obviously had the assets to get Pick 2 or 3, given that the GCS had put a scenario in front of Port.

Would be interesting as to what that was?????

Surely the Suns would say if you dont give us X we will give pick 2/3 to the Crows?

So who would Zak Butters best compare to? And what are his main attributes that would make him appealing to draft? From what I’ve seen he’s a bit short and slight, and doesn’t accumulate a heap of the ball, which always worries me a bit.
Hopefully Steele Sidebottom. Small classy mid/fwd?

Marc Murphy perhaps. Maybe Florent as well.

...
In real terms that would mean that they traded away Shittard, Polec, Wingard, Pick 10, Pick 23, Pick 30 and Pick 49 for Pick 2.

That would have worked out to be the most expensive price ever paid.

Port have given up way too much to get those picks, I don't think they are in a position to allow them to consolidate those picks into 1 higher pick.
Poot aren't too worried - their members can only count with one hand

Skills wise ....probably Chris Ladhams .....or Lachie Hunter from the Bulldogs

I'm worried we bid on Quaynor and collingwood dont match. I also think Hately ends up at Geelong. Would love to grab him if available though.

Out of the two Xavier's, which is the better player / pick, Duursma or O'Halloran ?
Both have been linked to the Crows
Not much in it honestly, both worthy of 1st round status in a very strong draft, both top end talents athletically and skills wise. Both very capable inside/outside midfielders with Duursma also a very good running back/winger, O'Halloran probably superior at contested ball winning and inside the contest and quite capable up forward, regularly hitting the scoreboard.

We need midfielders to hit the scoreboard, it's something they all lack aside from Greenwood.
