Someone on Facebook posted from an event Fagan was a speaker at. Claimed Fagan said we wanted 5 picks in the first 25 for this draft because we rated it so highly and had McAdam rated at 16 on our talent list.

I think Roo said something similar, must be the company line.

Funny though, it was only made possible with Lever and Gov going so what’s the point?

What is interesting though is that Port obviously had the assets to get Pick 2 or 3, given that the GCS had put a scenario in front of Port.

I get that but I don’t get patting yourself on the back and talking up how many picks you’ve got, if you’ve only got them because you’ve lost quality players.

Port have done it too, “we wanted quality picks in this strong draft” ignoring they’ve lost Polec and Wingard plus a heap of picks to do it.

The only caveat I would say with that, is that we are ahead in terms of trading Lever.

We got two 1sts and Lever has done his 2nd ACL. His longevity is going to be a massive issue.

There might be less risk attached to pick 2 than there is to pick 8, 13 or 10-15, but not that much.

That’s not what the data shows though. If you want a superstar you need to be high up

for the memes alone yes, think he'll be similar to Atkins, I rate others higher around his expected pick but won't be too disappointed.

We all have that one favourite player that we desperatley want at the club and mine this year is Xavier O'Halloran, who should be avaliable at 16 or 21, so fingers crossed the club agrees with me.

At least by then we'd have more certainty of whether they're a sure thing or not.

And a lot less of their career left

Getting a player midway through his career costs a lot of salary, a lot of picks/players and they have used a lot of their playing career already

Actually, it's because we trade well to get those picks, so give them credit there.

Why not?
He adds significant value to an area where we are lacking....outside midfield speed and agility, top end footy smarts, precision field kicking both in delivery terms and finishing skills in the front half.

What do you rate so highly of O'Halloran? I haven't seen nearly enough to make a judgement.

The only caveat I would say with that, is that we are ahead in terms of trading Lever.

More so as his 2nd ACL was on the same knee and was caused by just turning of direction.

I actually rate Valente higher than O’Halloran as a prospect, so in a vacuum I’d be happier with that haul, however Valente doesn’t suit our needs with his lack of pace
