Port would be mad to pass up Rozee / Caldwell / Smith for Ben King IMO. They’re already land of the giants, why would you bother trading up to pick 5 to take a 202cm defender?

Ryder
Dixon
Lycett
Westhoff
Jonas (not that tall but plays tall)
Marshall
Howard
Frampton
Clurey
Watts
Hayes
Ladhams

Add the abundance of talls to the fact that their midfield lacks kicking ability and speed like no other in the entire league, and surely you pick whichever elite mid with speed you rate the highest out of the aforementioned Rozee, Smith and Caldwell rather than another behemoth.

Point of my story: I think Ben King may be available at our pick.

Most of those guys will be gone by the time Ben King has an AFL ready body, talls often need until they are about 23 before they play consistent footy. By that time Ryder, Dixon, Lycett, Westhoff & Watts will all be gone and the rest are nothing to hang your hat on.

None of them can defend one on one. Big forwards tear them apart.

A lot of them are old. They have two decent KPPs under 27. Marshall and Howard

Personally if I wasCarlton I would even prefer 8 and 13 to pick 1. Say Caldwell and Hately instead of Walsh.
Taking only one kid in the first 80 in a strong draft when your list is in the state Carlton’s is seems almost insane.
Could probably get some sort of 3 way trade involved with us, GC and Carlton that would benefit us all.

.

That is a depressing shit list of players with the exception of Lycett who will make a difference for them in ruck.

The rest are either shit, injured or on the wrong side age wise.

If this trade exists it's because M King is going 2 or 3 otherwise Saints wouldn't trade surely?

CARL Walsh
GC Lukosius
GC M King
AFC Rankine
PORT Rozee/B King
GC Rozee/B King
STK Smith
WBD Caldwell

I think this makes so much sense.

Adelaide get one of their men.
GC get Lukosius/King and one of their other halves.
StK get their man.
WBD get their man.

Take it to the bank, it's happening

so I'm tipping no live trading takes place except for a few chip packets swapped somewhere around the third to fourth rounds.. but Gill will claim a raging success! look how much it got everyone talking!

They wont be chip packets to the clubs that trade them, but I agree. I think most of the trading will now be around the AFL's on the fly rule that clubs can trade their later picks after a bid is made. So if Briggs is bid on before 19, there will be a flurry of calls to GWS when pick 19 comes around. Or if its 25, the calls will be made at that pick. The AFL are a joke and this rule is probably only there because they realised that nobody had any intention of doing live trades.

Further compromise the draft system for ratings - check.

Is there a chance Carlton spring a surprise and take Vontae Mack at #1?

Turn the draft on its head

We will use all our currency bar pick 8 to get pick 2. Hamish will read his note of "Caldwell no matter what" and pull a massive surprise. Luko will slip to pick 8 with everyone worried hes a bust.

I am hoping for this as well.

All picks go through quickly and the couple of hours plus broadcast time for the first round is a fizzer.

Are we there yet?

"MUM!!! Hamish won't let me trade 8, 13, 16 and 21 for pick 2!!! He's a pooey pooey….."

"Now then Brett, you know we've given Hamish that job. And anyway, they're not your picks to give away. Justin got them for us."

"THAT'S NOT TRUE!!! I GOT US PICK 8!!!"

"Yes, honey, yes, you did. :( But it's Hamish's job now."

"BUT DAD MADE ME THE BOSS OF HIM!!!"

("Andrew, I told you that wasn't the best idea...")

"Honey, when you're the boss, it means you sometimes have to let people do what they're best at, and not tell them what to do all the time."

"Well I'm the best at running and stuff, and then you and Dad went and got that stupid Steve as a foster child!!! Stupid Steve, thinks he knows everything and he's not even a proper brother!!!"

"Sweetheart, that's very unkind. Steve is a very clever boy, and he built that lovely Bouncy Kanga toy for us to play with."

"Pooey pooey pooey…"

just realised I'll be working tomorrow night when the draft is on

I'll miss the melts live and then will have to trawl through 100 new pages to find them

I can save you some time, already written draft release from each club

INSERT CLUB NAME HERE, draft boss is extatic with getting INSERT PLAYER NAME HERE in last nights draft, we couldn’t believe he was still available, we would of picked him at pick 1 if we had it. INSERT PLAYER NAME HERE Is the stand out INSERT POSITION HERE player of all time and is delighted to be coming to INSERT CLUB NAME HERE

The club is clever about keeping Brett away from the decision making on draft night - his job is to hand over the guernsey to our new players :D

Has a player ever been injured receiving his guernsey before?

Port are idiots if they are trying to burn more picks. Don't they realise their list is in big trouble in the next year or two with Gray, Ryder, Westhoff, Boak all coming to the end and having lost Wingard and Polec who were the ones that provided their outside run. For them to be even thinking about thinking of trying to bundle up picks to move further up again from pick 5 when they need every high pick they have and more to bring in quantity of quality just shows how mentally ******ed they are down there. We have a vastly different and much more balanced list to them and can far more afford to bundle up picks to move up the order without mortgaging the future of our club in doing so. I am going to laugh very very hard if we do have a deal in place with GC and GC have effectively shut the door on port at the same time

I agree with you, imagine if they traded away 5, 12 and 18 for pick 2 or 3.

If you look at it in isolation it doesn't appear too bad, but when you factor in what they had to trade out to get those picks then things begin to start looking bad.

In real terms that would mean that they traded away Shittard, Polec, Wingard, Pick 10, Pick 23, Pick 30 and Pick 49 for Pick 2.

That would have worked out to be the most expensive price ever paid.

Port have given up way too much to get those picks, I don't think they are in a position to allow them to consolidate those picks into 1 higher pick.

So Hamish uses the word
"Hopefully" and this board goes into overdrive
We're back to creative pick swaps again
I'm keeping the picks
Can't wait for tomorrow

Tipping no change of picks. Then if it doesn't happen I'm meh if it does then I might rashly go on the pap board and get myself banned.

Get an alias and troll away. I know there is one or two on here that are Port posters.
