If I was a recruiter for the Saints I'd go with (subject to change):
1. Petracca
21. Laverde/Lever/Goddard/Durdin/Marchbank/Langford/Weller/Pickett/Duggan/DeGoey/Bampton/Blakely/R.McKenzie/Garlett
22. Laverde/Lever/Goddard/Durdin/Marchbank/Langford/Weller/Pickett/Duggan/DeGoey/Bampton/Blakely/R.McKenzie/Garlett
41. R.McKenzie/Garlett/Menadue/Gore/Neal-Bullen/O.McDonald/T.McLean

*which realistically ends up as something like..
1. Petracca (Fwd/Mid)
21. Bampton (Mid)
22. R.McKenzie (KPF)
41. O.McDonald (KPD)

Not much love for Gore, Special K? I think the kids going to be a player.

Gore is 23 on my draft board for a reason. He is terrific. Well performed. Strong bodied but also relatively explosive.

Just at 21/22 there are a few others I slightly favour.

It's while far from certain, not out of the question Gore isn't there at 41.

Basically, for mine, it's:

1. Petracca
2. Outside mid slider
3. McKenzie, or if he's gone, another outside mid slider.

It sounds like there's tons of outsider mids in this draft, and they can't all be picked before 21. That's especially true since rumours are floating around that the Crows are going to take a surprise who's not really in anybody's first round, and Ross's Dockers may well do the same thing (because Ross is crazy on draft day!).

So I guess I'm asking, who are the main outside mids in the draft that are usually mocked around that pick 10-20 range?

How many outside mids at U18 level actually make it at AFL level. Unless they accumulate of lot of touches and have elite speed and footskills om both sides of the body - do not want.

IMO as much as you dont want to stuff any picks up - 21 & 22 must be big wins for us and our rebuild.

Any ideas on who the crows want? Would they reach for a home boy in Neal-Bullen? Surely not.

Funny thing...

with the whole Boyd / Dogs move, it certainly throws up some speed humps.

Draft day is a bit like Brownlow night... Some obscure player wins it.

For all we know, we might end up with 2m Peter.

1. Petracca
21. Duggan
22. Langford
41. Keitel
78. Templeton
96. Minchington
114. Shenton

Rookie
1. McLaren
2. Lonie
3. Saad
4. Hunt

1. Membrey

***i really hope that Cockatoo is available at pick 22 & would substitute him in for Langford***
Would be stoked with McLaren as a Rookie; he's an AIS member, 197cm and pretty athletic, and had a great finals series for Sandy... It mystifies me that he's escaped any hype at all.

I've just done a 2 round phantom & I reckon he may be one of the few talls still available at 41. With 21 & 22 likely to have midfield sliders available, if Trout wants a young key defender then McL might be an option at 41.

I've got McDonald as the big mover ala Corr in 2012. I think North might like a big body down back after their tweener back line got manhandled in the finals. McDonald to Nth at #16, Freo to take your boy at 13... Means we'll have the choice of the likes of DeGoey, Cockatoo, Langford, Garlett, Menadue, Ellis & maybe Duggan.

Should we start our own thread for phantoms by Saints fans only?

Do you think the likes of Laverde, Lever and Durdin will have any chance of making it to pick 21/22

Looking forward to it, but don't see McKenzie going at pick 13 when Freo already has Apeness.

Yes please.

Okay, here's a question:

If both are available at 21/22, Lamb or McKenzie, and why?
No memes, but why not both?

Lamb will end up a tall mid in my view - think an angry Fyfe - and Big R is the monster forward we've been after since Gehrig retired.

I can't see us taking two tall forwards at 21/22, not with our lack of outside run. I am not convinced at all that Lamb will make it in the middle.
