I do like Jacques although I feel top 20 is a bit early but I suppose Richmond have enough picks they can afford to go early in the 20s (unless they trade back for more picks). But yes I think for someone in the 2nd round he will be great value. He's the sort of player that to me has good skills and a great footy brain once he fills out.
Better players than Jacques
Definitely a no to him

Think after this year they have got it bang on it’s just really annoying GC can pillage the draft last year and this year for 2c in the dollar. For years they have overrated picks outside pick 35.
The thing I don't get is that they brought in the rule to stop clubs taking more picks than they had list spots into the draft, but have just ignored the creation of fake list spots by delisting and then re-drafting players.

Heard a rumour that Sydney is interested in a player most rate as a mid to late second rounder with our first pick. We are convinced that we see something in this mid sized outside mid or small forward that no one else sees.

Brilliant! Look forward to him being delisted or traded in 2 years time.

In all seriousness though, does Sydney making a reach work out well for them historically?
Stephens and Vickery immediately come to mind.

That was last year that Colina extended (4th year) as a Cat B rookie.
He will be relisted as a Cat A rookie. Therefore Richmond can only pick a maximum of 7 players in the draft.

Richmond has 27 on the main list and seven on the rookie list currently. Total list spots is 44, with a minimum of 36 on the primary list and a maximum of eight on the rookie list.

Mate will go on the rookie list (taking it to the full amount of eight) and have nine list spots available for the eight picks in the National draft.

Richmond can’t take more picks into the draft than list spots, so Richmond would have had to trade some picks into the future before tomorrow pick trading deadline (RFC had to do it in 2021 and traded with Collingwood for Pennies on the dollar) if it could only take seven selections.

My bet is Richmond take 6-7 picks on draft night, trade at least one into 2025 and promote someone from the rookie list and either take someone in the rookie draft or as an SSP.

The more I look at the draft talent all the way to pick 40, it seems so even. Especially from pick 15 to 40.

Makes no sense for my team the Hawks to pay ridiculous overs to move from Pick 33. Only for a true Top 15 slider would we consider that.

At Pick 33 we will have enough options. Surely one of Sims, Gerryn, Mraz, Barrat, Oliver, Davis etc will be available. So any trade deals that includes pick 33 means other side are not losing out much as this draft is quite equal from 15-35 or so.

I would assume the same feeing for other's who have pick in 20's and 30's. Tigers dreams of teams throwing up F1's to get their pick 18-24 is quite likely to get dashed.

Richmond’s late first round pick early second round picks are attractive to teams because they think the quality in this draft at that point might be better than the quality of their respective picks next year

Then they also continue to be happy with the later picks they already have

It's not a reach if you believe it

The guy you're responding to has melted on every thread about Richmond's picks.

The relevant number is 42 not 44. 44 includes 2 cat b rookies. So you've only got 7 rather than 9 cat a or senior list vacancies.

Was hilarious when it happened still is but what do you expect the AFL and their wisdom not thinking how it would operate teams are silly if they don’t try and get around the rules within the parameters of course
Was actually brilliant by the Swans.......Typical AFL "on the run rules and regs" though and you circumnavigated them

This is the AFL I’ll try to say this nicely they are masters at patch up jobs. They remind me of a shopping centre when you have an escalator not working and they fix this bit or that bit and not replace the whole thing

Everything AFL does they need to alter, hilarious for a massive business, but they have no real competition, so it's all trial and error on the customer.
What ya gunna do with your username? It's not so easy to just change is it?

Pick 20 is being called out and draft flows as above, how many teams are trading a F1 to get Tigers pick 21? Or any pick from thereon. Is there talent left that is worthy of a F1 trade?

Will you trade a F1+(pick 25-35) to get one of guys still on board? F1 by itself I can see is a chance if a team doesn't pick with the next 15 picks or won't add their 2nd round pick.

I can imagine F2+(pick 25-35) is possible but surely not F1. Tigers fans don't want this reality to be observed and discussed.

I stand corrected.

That said, 27 primary list spots still means 8 primary list spots. Promoting a rookie would mean 28 primary and 6 Cat A, allowing eight National Draft selections.

If Richmond select ant all eight picks (which I doubt) then there would be no further room to promote a Cat-A rookie and therefore couldn’t promote Colina.

Just haven’t got around to changing it ultra busy unfortunately

That's all correct, but Tiges aren't going to tell a kid they're going to re-draft him, announce it in the press and then not re-draft him. It'd be really shit. It's technically a list vacancy, but it's not really.

I sense some clubs make these delistings in the hope a repeat of North poaching Hugh Greenwood takes place.
