That's not terrible for the Saints. Just depends on whether they see the gap between 2 and 7 being bigger than the gap between 8 and 16.Yuck

North dont give a shit if its good for the saints its what north wants that matters .Pretty simple actually north get the deal they want that,s all that they care aboutThat's not terrible for the Saints. Yeah we’d potentially take that deal right now if it was offered. That's not terrible for the Saints. Just depends on whether they see the gap between 2 and 7 being bigger than the gap between 8 and 16.
Yeah I’m not crazy on it…..there’d need to be ironclad agreements that Tauru is getting to 7 for a start…..then pick 18? Hmmmm. We will all know soonThat would achieve exactly what North seem to be trying to do, if they were sure they would get Tauru at 7.
Their objective seems to be:
Get Tauru and another top 20 pick.
Getting 7 and 18 for 2 potentially achieves both of those objectives.
And if doing those deals means Richmond get 2, without having lost 6, they achieve what they seem to want to do.
While we presumably get the guy we would have taken at 7, at 8, then we have another crack just 3 picks later, then a bonus pick at 20.
Looks like an excellent result all-round to me.
The only potential issue (if North are sure Richmond won’t take Tauru at 6), is the potential of Melbourne spoiling the party at 5.
Otherwise, that seems like a deal that has a lot to like from all parties.
What are you on about? The same applies for every team in a pick swap. Deal doesn't go ahead unless all sides are happy with it.North dont give a shit if its good for the saints its what north wants that matters .Pretty simple actually north get the deal they want that,s all that they care about

Thing is you need to offer north a deal they want? Not what youd likeYeah we’d potentially take that deal right now if it was offered.
Ok in simple terms if i was north im not taking that dealWhat are you on about? The same applies for every team in a pick swap. Deal doesn't go ahead unless all sides are happy with it.

Well you wouldn’t get that because Melbourne would have no reason to give you such an agreement. But if you’re worried about them the only pick you’d be willing to trade back to would be 4.Yeah I’m not crazy on it…..there’d need to be ironclad agreements that Tauru is getting to 7 for a start…..then pick 18? Fair enough. It was a Saints supporter who said yuck, which was why I referenced the saints part.
Its all good we have pick 4 and its going to be one of 5 we take either lalor ,fos ,smith ,draper or langford i thinkFair enough. It was a Saints supporter who said yuck, which was why I referenced the saints part.

Wouldn’t be a bad trade swap 7 for 8 though much better value than paying the massive overs that north want for pick 2Rich give Pick 10 for Port 13+29
Saints give Pick 7 for 11+20
Nth give Pick 2 for 7+18
Saints end up with 8+11+20
Nth 7+18
Rich with 1+2+6+13+23+24+29, give 10+11+18+20 for 2+13+29
Not garbage. I think most agree it makes sense in principle, but it needs to be a trade that suits both parties. And that trade has to include 6 among other things. The author agrees as every scenario he painted involves 6.
I feel scenario 3 is most likely. 1 is not good for Tigers. 4 in not good for North. 2 Tigers don't seem keen on even though I think it's a great trade for them.
3 is about fair. Slightly in favour of the Tigers on paper but if Roos plan to pick Tauru at 2 anyway (not saying they do) then 18 is a bonus and they can't really say no.
Unless we were planning on taking Tauru at 7, it wouldn’t matter if we gave them 7 or 8, as we’d get the same player whichever of the two picks we had. And then our next pick would be 11.Wouldn’t be a bad trade swap 7 for 8 though much better value than paying the massive overs that north want for pick 2
I would love Jaques. Would be the perfect Short upgrade and a terrific half back partner with Travaglia. If we could land both, it would be amazing.
My reading on the trade pick 2 conversation is that:
It is like picks next year are worth 10 picks lower in this year's draft. So North need to think like their F1 is worth pick 15 this year and that the slide from 2 to 6 in this draft is not worth much at all. I appreciate that is madness but I feel it is close to reality.
- Richmond think that the player at 6 won't be far behind the player at 2 and are not applying a large premium to move up to that pick.
- North have a dearth of young KP players on their list and are willing to pay overs to go bang in this draft, noting that KPs are after mids, especially Tauru.
- North are rightly in a hurry to fast-track the rebuild and highly value bringing forward next year's picks
- Right or wrong, this draft is viewed as vastly superior to next year and clubs aren't very interested in trading out of this draft even with later picks (I think only one underage player made best 22 at the u18. A lot of this year's draftees played really well at league level when given opportunities).
- Clubs are wary of the scrutiny of trading off a player that they could have got.
Potentially a three-way with Saints and GWS emerges (maybe later pick swaps to balance out):
North In: 7, 15
Out: 2, F1
GWS In: 2, 32
Out: 15, 16
Saints In: North F1 and 16
Out: 7, 32
Don't think North should or would do that deal but I am just pointing out what I think it would take.
Personally, I think Tauru is the most exciting prospect in the draft and they should and will take him at 2. But fair enough that they're looking around for freebies if they're confident the others don't rate him as highly as that.It actually hard to see how North can get anyone to bite given that the top 5 are so even.
I'll try a hypothetical using my side.
Melbourne trade 9 to GWS for 15 & 16, then
Melbourne trade 5, 15 & F2 to North for 2 & F1
GWS get 9
North get 5, 15 and a F2
Melbourne get 2, 16 and a F1
agreed. I can't see a trade happening. If they want him, they just have to take him at 2Personally, I think Tauru is the most exciting prospect in the draft and they should and will take him at 2. But fair enough that they're looking around for freebies if they're confident the others don't rate him as highly as that.
Yeah it’s a horrible trade I think best case I see st kilda finishing middle of the ladder next season that would still make it basically pick 7 and 10 just to move up five places to pick 2 . If we actually offered that and north didn’t take it and ran there crazy .I don't know if Saints take that risk as they could underperform next year.
He's the one I want to get to Collingwood pick.Id like to get my hands on charlie west but no picks for him
