The 2001 superdraft had 12 blokes who went on to be top line players, with 4 of them amongst the very best players of their era. Most drafts will have as a maximum three or four gems. Possibly 10 to 15 servicable players and the rest won't make it. How many of those decent players will Richmond land? And how many years of being uncompetitive will Richmond supporters put up with being uncompetitive?
Cats helped to set up their era by getting 4 of the top liners.
This draft doesn't have those likely to be amongst the best of their era but it could have a lot who become top line players, but they'll probably be spread out through the draft.
Tigers are in a strong position to get a few of those who have really good careers and should also add a heap of value into next draft. If they're bullish about this crop, they may switch to trade next year to avoid a long time as cellar dwellers and they should be stacked with trade chips.
They need a lot to go right, but definite potential to reload with a really strong base to build around for the next decade.
I like it as a strategy. They're not going to be Ninthmond again.
