This is spot on. What I can’t believe is where he’s got the Ashcroft bid. Seriously the other clubs should never complain if he’s not bidded on until 5

You can't talk you got yours for 2c in the dollar last year. Whether he's bid at 1 or 5 does it really matter? They have plenty of points are have the most boring draft but it's like yours last year

I'd be shocked if they do, more likely to trade in than down. Take the best guy at 2- whether it be FOS, Draper, Jagga whatever they want. Trade their f1/f2 in for a tall in the late first round early second. I really don't see this attraction in North basically trading down and gambling on other sides not taking your guy, it's blown up so many times teams doing this.

You're assuming they see gaps between their player ratings, despite saying yourself that you see them as really even. It's not ficiton that North have interest in trading down if they can get enough in return - they've made it abundantly clear that they are interested in it. If North see an evenness at the top, and thus can get someone they rate just as highly and something else in return, why wouldn't they trade down?

They might not be able to get what they want in one deal - but trading down twice might accumulate what they want. I think it's certainly something that they would have looked at.

When has this blowing up occurred?

Take FOS at 2, and then then can worry about trading in, struggling to see why teams want North (and Richmond) to help them, firstly it's Saints fans wanting a mid- maybe don't get Higgins to kick that goal late in the year thus taking them out of the mids range. They will get pick 15 ish for their f1, they could get a Gerryn type with their f2. Just two examples they could do

Geez I hope we don't do that.

I call a spade a spade, I've hated these matching rules for years. Whether it's us, whether it's GC don't care. The ability to match should be the discount. I'm happy the curve has been fixed to a degree, should go further but that's for another thread

Anyone get the feeling from Murphy Reid's facial expressions he isn't happy about heading interstate? I could be wrong but I just got that feeling watching him talk on gettable.
He just looks like that all the time. First time he was on Gettable he looked really uncomfortable too and they didnt even ask him about moving interstate then. I don't think he particularly enjoys being in front of media.

McCluggage IMO.....But he's been referred to as "Bont like", which seems off, but has happened a couple of times.
I think McLuggage is the best comparison. A better mark and more x-factor but not as good at finding the ball or around stoppages. I'd also say his kicking isn't as consistent but would have more penetration.

Here's a rumour for the rumour-free rumours thread. Maybe you've already heard it, in which case disregard the rumour.

Already heard that one.
But tbh I don't see it.
We have already spent 2 high picks in 3 years on rucks in Conway and edwards. What we need is a mature backup ruck like Boyd etc to tide us over for 2 years. I wouldn't spend an early pick on Dodson unless he's a top 5 in league ruck.

Tigers board melting on rumours we are looking at Allan at 6 over Smillie. If that happens, come over with some popcorn and enjoy the show.
I'd rather Allan to Smillie tbh, but maybe that's just me.

I don't get why you're so adamant on this. North have made it clear that they'll trade down if the price is right. They won't do it to help another club, they'll do it if they think it benefits them. If they can turn pick 2 into a player they rate highly enough and another pick they rate highly enough, they'll do it. There's no doubt of that. There's little doubt that's their preference, whether or not they can do it is the doubt.

It was actually made pretty clear it's also been dependent on who was available at Pick 2 and what offers we recieved.

Given that Richmond seem locked into Lalor, it seems North are now content to keep it and pick FOS. It seems pretty clear now we rate FOS, Draper and Tauru ahead of Lalor and Smith.

Had Richmond gone FOS, I've no doubt we probably would have made a trade with Lalor and Smith likely being taken by any slide difference anyway. Twomey reiterated that yesterday. If FOS was off the board at #1, that trade could still occur.

As of 10 minutes ago, he confirmed that Richmond WILL be selecting Lalor #1.

Why wouldn't we just select the #1 player on our board? You aren't getting a better deal than being able to select who you believe (rightly or wrongly) the best player in the draft is.

Wonder if relevant to Richmond to then.....maybe they will go this route to try and "force" a trade, somewhat......but be a ballsy move. Cue the TigTok'rs now.
There's heaps of machinations. "So much room for activities!!"

I can talk that’s the point of the forum. Pick 1 or pick 5 is huge difference lol. We weren’t talking about GC at all. Clubs complain and refuse to bid and whinge about the system. Richmond aren’t losing anything by bidding at pick 1

Change your name while you’re at it. Parker left 🤡

They lose marketing hype if their boy isn't pick 1. They gain nothing by bidding on Ashcroft.

North should bid at 2 though. If nothing else their late pick will probably come in a couple of extra spots.
