It was actually made pretty clear it's also been dependent on who was available at Pick 2 and what offers we recieved.

Given that Richmond seem locked into Lalor, it seems North are now content to keep it and pick FOS. It seems pretty clear now we rate FOS, Draper and Tauru ahead of Lalor and Smith.

Had Richmond gone FOS, I've no doubt we probably would have made a trade with Lalor and Smith likely being taken by any slide difference anyway. Twomey reiterated that yesterday. If FOS was off the board at #1, that trade could still occur.

As of 10 minutes ago, he confirmed that Richmond WILL be selecting Lalor #1.

Why wouldn't we just select the #1 player on our board? You aren't getting a better deal than being able to select who you believe (rightly or wrongly) the best player in the draft is.

So much delusion and wishful thinking in your post

Reality is you have pick 2 and Pick 64

Pick 2 is on the market and so is F1

It has been the case since the end of trade period, no matter how you try and deny it

I do not even know why you are dying on this hill, its completely logical

No amount of condescension, or personal insults is going to change it, it just a fact.

If the top 6 mids are all gone I think we take bo Allan at 7 has buy far the most upside out of the remaining mids which is what we desperately need. tauru might be an option at 8 if we don’t split the pick

We got overs for that pick, so I’d prefer we pay less points so that we get a better pick from the AFL. It means we can trade out picks 28 and 31 for a future pick, I think we get a pick back in the late 40’s. So we can use 40, 46, 53 and 54, to match Kako. Then trade back in with the future picks we get for 28 and 31, then take Kako, a pick in the 20’s, 40 something and then take Jayden Nyguen with the last pick, 4 players is the max we’re taking in this draft.

Then next year we will have a strong draft hand, which we will be quite valuable considering picks in the third round are useless from next year onwards and a strong market for trading. The later Kako gets bid on the better for us.
I know it’s unlikely but I think kako is quite underrated would Essendon still match a top 5 bid

Dees won’t take Tauru at 5, they have clearly said they are taking best available on talent and not drafting by needs.

Which would have us taking the top 5 mid who slides, regardless who it is.

There is every chance he is there at pick 9 as well if we want him.
I’m not sure his there at 9 though if st Kilda don’t trade 8 I think he gets picked there

I can talk that’s the point of the forum. Pick 1 or pick 5 is huge difference lol. We weren’t talking about GC at all. Clubs complain and refuse to bid and whinge about the system. Richmond aren’t losing anything by bidding at pick 1

Change your name while you’re at it. Parker left 🤡

Makes no difference this year they have the points, next year the farcical curve is ending thank goodness for everyone, should be more, shouldn't get a discount matching is plenty.

Yes Richmond are losing- they are saying to the bloke picked at 2, you know what we want you but not really. Plus there's the hype that goes at 1 which sells memberships and stuff.

Of course it's dependent on offers, but I think you've fantasised the whose available at pick 2 narrative.

saints won't take tauru at 7
but now you think they take him at 8?
It’s definitely a chance I just don’t see us taking two defenders like cal has us down for when we are screaming out for midfielders Allan has some risk associated but has a lot more upside than the rest of the mids in the second batch . With pick8 who is left with more upside or talent than tauru ? Be interesting if Melbourne really are keen on him will they offer us something to move up to 8

What are you on about now? Nobody is denying North's picks are on the market, all picks are, for the right price. But it doesn't look like anyone is going to make a good enough offer for pick 2, so it is highly likely we will take FOS (assuming you guys take Lalor at 1).

Is Murphy Reid an option?

Sphynx is absolutely denying the picks are on the market

He said it was a "complete fabrication"

but he also said our 3 flags where built on priority picks, so there is that

How do you change your name in bigfooty.

And yet here we are, with no Pick 2 being traded 24hrs from the draft and confirmation from the only journo that counts (not the ones you have quoted continually for weeks) that we plan to use it, given you have been bleating for weeks that were DESPERATE to trade both Pick 2 AND our F1?

You have been soaking in the Richmond board for too long, where every second post is regarding Blair Harlety (master manipulater apparently) working over Brady Rawlings, with him caving any minute into handing Pick 2 to you.

I know it must be embarrassing for the Richmond board given that your Best 22 predictions have all been filled with FOS at Pick 2 in them for a month like it was a forgone conclusion we'd just take whatever you offered.

It's almost as if Thursfield stating yesterday our lack of KPP's is overstated is exactly what most on here have been trying to tell you for a month.

Pick 2 was only ever going to be traded for substancial overs. Reality is both teams were always panels apart. Richmond would say 10 and 23 is enough and nothing more, North would say 6 and 10 (at a minimum). Feel both clubs were always happy to take what they had to the draft it never really made sense. Sure North would have looked at Tahru- you sure hope they would look at every prospect in the top 10, but if FOS is 1/2 on their board why are they trading down? Carlton would just take him at 3, makes zero sense trading down.

No, it was stated yesterday.

When it went on the table, it was widely thought that Richmond was going to take Lalor at 1. It hasn't changed. There was a change in tone from the North guy yesterday, most likely because he now believes he's not going to get a good enough offer to trade it down, or perhaps because he's trying to push up the price from an interested party - time will tell. I hope you do trade it down, as I want North to do well - and I think FOS isn't a great choice - although a better choice for you than some other clubs.

It might still happen though Sphynx ....but you are right they have been drinking their own bathwater a fair bit.
Fancy trying to get pick 2 with a caveat on pick 6......unless they know something we don't and Tauru guaranteed to be there at 10.....Maybe he will be. Not keen on those odds to gamble away pick 2.

"I WANT THAT!!!.....BUT I ALSO WANT THAT!!!" Just a touch greedy I reckon. Of course, anything can still happen, but I wouldn't be punting on that. We will see. Seems like we have said what we would take, they don't want to pay that. Who knows

The pick trading window closed a few weeks ago, opens again tomorrow night, who knows what sort of trades have been nutted out already and what sort of contingencies are in place after certain players are taken and where recruiters targets have landed.

What time does trading window open? I assumed that'd already been done with them closing down trades for a bit.
Be hilarious if there's a stack of trades that even Cal doesn't know about.

I call a spade a spade, I've hated these matching rules for years. Whether it's us, whether it's GC don't care. The ability to match should be the discount. I'm happy the curve has been fixed to a degree, should go further but that's for another thread

I like you

And please don’t construe this as anything negative but your man Luke Parker looked bloody good in blue running around Arden st yesterday.

Still can’t believe he’s at north

FOS is easily the best fit of the top mids for our current makeup.

We need players with flexibility, we need players that can run, we need mids that can run the lines on the outside, we don't need clearance midfielders, we have LDU, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Powell and McKercher for that.

I think he's a perfect fit for North even if he only plays half the games he will install standards, don't forget how important they are. If players are lazy off the field whether it be nutrition, training whatever, they are 10 times lazier on the field.

As far as I know pick trading resumes once the ND commences. There's another period for an hour or so before the second round starts.

I'm not sure what you mean about there being a stack of trades that Cal doesn't know about. There'd be a multitude of deals that could be in place and given the dynamics of the draft those deals will be quite fluid.
