When it went on the table, it was widely thought that Richmond was going to take Lalor at 1. It hasn't changed. There was a change in tone from the North guy yesterday, most likely because he now believes he's not going to get a good enough offer to trade it down, or perhaps because he's trying to push up the price from an interested party - time will tell. I hope you do trade it down, as I want North to do well - and I think FOS isn't a great choice - although a better choice for you than some other clubs.
The thing is that there wasn't a change in tone at all. It is just that the media has got carried away with the idea that we are desperate to both trade pick 2 and to get Tauru, and lots of people have convinced themselves that this was true. It's been clickbait for weeks, but it is completely divorced from what the club has actually said.

FOS is easily the best fit of the top mids for our current makeup.

We need players with flexibility, we need players that can run, we need mids that can run the lines on the outside, we don't need clearance midfielders, we have LDU, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Powell and McKercher for that.
What’s mckerchers contract status ? I’m surprised north haven’t tried to lock him down to a long term contract yet . There’s talk the Tasmanian team will be putting offers well above million a season to him hopefully for north they manage to get it sorted soon

Expires at the end of 2026, and there's no indication they haven't tried yet to extend beyond that.

Tasmania enters in 2028.

As far as I know pick trading resumes once the ND commences. There's another period for an hour or so before the second round starts.

I'm not sure what you mean about there being a stack of trades that Cal doesn't know about. There'd be a multitude of deals that could be in place and given the dynamics of the draft those deals will be quite fluid.
I meant I wonder if window opens and boom!!...a few trades flood in from left field

Can you think of another time a club holding a top 5 pick has come out saying they'd be interested in trading it down a few spots?

When they've been traded down previously it's been through massive offers by a club courting the pick.

Nothing has changed. It's still on the table (unless they're flip floppers) they just haven't got a good enough offer yet, but that's not surprising as the deadline is still a fair way away.

I also think that's the first time Thursfield has spoken too.....thinks he's actually a pretty polished performer......well he is compared to Brady

It makes no sense for him to sign now.
He could do an ACL next week and North would still be offering him the same amount of money.
Or he could wait, have a breakout year in 2025, and get 50% more added to the contract.

I think he's a perfect fit for North even if he only plays half the games he will install standards, don't forget how important they are. If players are lazy off the field whether it be nutrition, training whatever, they are 10 times lazier on the field.

If anyone is still lazy at north after the heartbreaking football played over the last 5 years I hope he punches them in their stupid faces

So much delusion and wishful thinking in your post

Reality is you have pick 2 and Pick 64

Pick 2 is on the market and so is F1

It has been the case since the end of trade period, no matter how you try and deny it

I do not even know why you are dying on this hill, its completely logical

No amount of condescension, or personal insults is going to change it, it just a fact.
Man you gotta remember we took 5 first round picks last year including 2/3 in a strong draft.

I personally would like us to take a KPF in this draft but I imagine the club is thinking quality over quantity particularly with the top end of the draft being weaker than previous years at the top end at least.

It's definitely still on the table, and we'll trade it if the offer is good enough. Whilst FOS would suit us, I hope we get such an offer. But the smart money has always been on us using pick 2.

No trades will occur on draft night till one of the teams executing the trade is on the clock.

Depends who is still on the board.

Can't see many teams getting back into the first round with future firsts alone except Eagles and Roos.

Bombers fans thinks they can get Giants 15 or 16 with their future first alone.

Next year's draft far more compromised who knows Bombers may make the 8.

McCluggage IMO.....But he's been referred to as "Bont like", which seems off, but has happened a couple of times.

North media team: “what the hell are we going to do with all these Viking prop helmets now?”

Many would take the. Chance on Essendon falling off a cliff and they easily could. That could be a top 3 pick. WCE and NM should be improving

I think you are the only club who should contemplate not taking best available and also think FOS suits you. I don't think he'll be a centre square mid. I think he's a classy flanker at AFL and everyone needs those - more and more the way the game is heading.

Our need for KPP is still overstated. Will definitely draft one. Next years class top end has a good chance to produce a better KPP still.
FOS arguably has the highest ceiling. Though I haven’t loved his year this year his body of work is significantly better than most of the top liners in the draft including Lalor, Draper and arguably Smith.
Norths will listen to offers on the night but it’s clearly media driven and fans running away with it that makes out a desperation.

No, it was stated yesterday.

And yet here we are, with no Pick 2 being traded 24hrs from the draft and confirmation from the only journo that counts (not the ones you have quoted continually for weeks) that we plan to use it, given you have been bleating for weeks that were DESPERATE to trade both Pick 2 AND our F1?

You have been soaking in the Richmond board for too long, where every second post is regarding Blair Harlety (master manipulater apparently) working over Brady Rawlings, with him caving any minute into handing Pick 2 to you.

I know it must be embarrassing for the Richmond board given that your Best 22 predictions have all been filled with FOS at Pick 2 in them for a month like it was a forgone conclusion we'd just take whatever you offered.

It's almost as if Thursfield stating yesterday our lack of KPP's is overstated is exactly what most on here have been trying to tell you for a month.
I think you are confused

Actually I know you are

Never quoted any scribe nor have I ever said Blair was a master manipulator.

But you make things up all the time and this is another one

Just like when you said Richmond’s flags where built on priority picks which you have been exposed as spruiking garbage

Fact is I said that nth wanted to trade pick 2 and f1 and they do and they are trying to

Keep coping 👍

Yeah until the last couple of days I always thought we'd trade 2.....but you start watching FOS vids again and think, "I don't want that dude playing for someone else, when we literally have him in a North jumper, just keep him. Trade back in later on"
Am sure I'll change again before tomorrow night. Right now though, hold firm and use pick 2.

Agree

That’s why said you are trying to trade pick 2 and f1

I actually agree with the move considering the position you are in with your draft hand

Maybe, I guess the most surprising (for me) non trade were the Dons picks 28 & 31
They'll live trade them before the bid comes. It may happen for future picks at the start of the draft. But it wouldn't surprise me if they packaged them with an F1 for 10 or 11 off Richmond. Everyone is assuming that the picks you'll use are your existing ones, but there is every chance you are keen on a couple of players projected to go later. And you'll trade out several of your current picks to get another big draft hand for next year.

8 for 12 & 21?
What would you think is a good outcome?

Edit - bloody fat fingers lmfao

Any of our last 4 picks haha....
Realisticly i presume the Saints want 11 at a minimum....
So maybe 11 & 23?
23 holds power as well being the last pick of the night. Clubs may call with F1's
Tomorrow night will be fun to watch.
