“Traditionally, drag queens are seen as parodying the characteristics associated with women. We immediately think of drag queens with big hair and overdone make-up, and body language that conforms to stereotypical “female” behaviour “

Perpetuating an old stereotype seems odd if these people see themselves as progressives
Personally I see it as little different to dressing up as a dinosaur, or a clown. And the kids seem to enjoy it, which should be the end result of all childrens' entertainment.. What really bothers you about drag actors?

Dressing up? Mmmmm
The Wiggles dress up.
You might want to ask why drag queens feel the need to interact with very young children. They could be reading to the elderly, working in homeless shelters, any number of other volunteer community activities but they all seem obsessed with young children.
I also think anything that perpetrates false stereotypes to young children is wrong.
You said you don’t have children -

Get back to me when you do

This sums up since of the ridiculous get the top argents against it.

Seems like a few harmlessly reading books to kids.

Lots of sly implications here but in reality you guys are like the kids that cry wolf and by accusing anyone you don't agree with of being a nonce all you're doing is making it harder to prevent actual abuse. You should stop it.

They do read to the elderly mate.
Only difference is, it doesn’t get the airtime.
You need to just take a chill pill and focus on what you can control - your own children. It’s not for me either, but if other parents want to attend, then so be it. I draw the line on being forced to go at school but I don’t believe that’s occurring.

Conservatives obsession with drag queens is bizarre, this isn’t the 1950’s. You should seek some help.

Question.

Do you think drag queens are reading books to kids of formative mind in bad faith to 'groom' them and / or virtue signal 'inclusivity'?

If yes, question.

Do you think those kids really give a sh*t about these drag queens sexuality or the inclusive virtue signalling or are even aware of either?

If yes, question.

Do you think these kids will grow up to be sexualised drag queens or angry irrational virtue signalling progressives because they were read fairy tales by drag queens?

Dress up as whatever you want. I couldn’t care less if you want to frock up. Consenting adults and all that.

Not me living in the 50’s.
Female stereotype typically displayed by this group is more antiquated.
I am querying why the obsession for these people with children under 5

Why is it only very young children they seek to interact with ?

And why the perpetuating of the big hair, big boob female ?
Even Barbie has moved on from that stereotype but not this group.

No implication.
A question that none of you can actually answer.

Here’s a couple of examples mate.

Not having a dig at you, I also am not a fan of it, and it’s not for me or my family, but causing a fuss about it, only stresses you out, for no real reason really.

You are the one thinking it’s sexual. It’s not.

That says more about you, than it does about drag queens. You are obsessed with them.

Putting on a cabaret is not the same thing though is it

We all love a good cabaret
I was a massive Dame Edna fan
Loved Priscilla / film and stage show

A huge Hans fan

But
A cabaret act is not the same as being obsessed with young children.

Reckon drag queens get paid to read books to the kids?

I would assume they would by local government for coming to a library to read.

If so, why wouldn’t you want to do it? Easiest money you could make.

If you’re going to be annoyed, you should be annoyed at the library for putting the event on, shouldn’t you?

There’s no way that a drag queen is ringing the local library, asking them to put this event on because they are obsessed with children.

Something tells me you'd have an issue whatever they did - reading books, cabarets, cooking classes, whatever.

Probably more honest to just say you don't believe kids should lay eyes on drag queens whatever the context.

You keep avoiding the issue I raise about their obsession with under 5’s

🤣🤣🤣I literally just said said I’m fine with that !
Ha
Now can you answer me why they have an obsession with young children ?

They don't imo, that's just your contention. Its a loaded question like asking someone how long have you been beating your wife.

"Obsession" with young children? I mean.. what other demographic would you expect be into library story time? They do comparable work with other demographics, a point which you were pretty dismissive of despite you being the one to bring it up in the first place (looking forward to your answer to my question above).

For some they would probably see it as a normalisation/reducing discrimination effort, ie. getting to the kids before they're influenced by external factors into forming negative views about LGBTQ stuff. For others I suspect its just a paying gig as dogsfan mentioned.

You keep on saying they are obsessed with young children, like every drag queen is just hellbent on this.

DQST is something that some drag performers have changed their act for to make it child friendly, and they read childrens books to the audience. Books that are fantastical and enhanced by an over the top reading, which is something that drag performers are suited for. Protesters seem to think that they are reading 50 shades of gray to a bunch of toddlers with performance of the content!

Pantomime has been around for centuries for children playing characters from stories and fairytales. On that I have no issue and children can discern the fact that it is “play acting”. They know the wicked witch is not real.

Not sure under 5’s would be enthralled with a Dame Edna performance and the like being characters targeted at adults.

My question remains
Why is it ok for “drag” to perpetuate a false stereotype to children - these men are portraying themselves as women.

So now your issue is that its a false stereotype, that the performer (who is reading a childrens book) is passing themselves off as a woman and the children will be confused?

I presume you also want Disney banned for kids due to its suggestion that a mouse can walk and talk and Toy Story for suggesting that a child's toys come to life when they leave the room?

Perhaps as has already been stated, it is about the choice of the parents what their children attend, and they can then speak to their child about reality if they are concerned the child believes something that is not correct.

You'd be fine with drag queens putting on cabaret shows for kids? Thats genuinely interesting - personally I couldn't think of anything that would rile up the usual suspects more than they already are.

What is it about the act of reading a book that you find more sexualised or otherwise problematic than the performance of a drag cabaret show?

My question remains

Thats actually a different question (thus far your question has been why are they "obsessed" with kids/why do they do DQST). Its been answered and now you appear to be shifting the goalposts slightly.

In any case, now you seem to bouncing back to just a flat children shouldn't see drag queens whatever the context ie. surely the "perpetuating a false stereotype to children" argument would apply to both a cabaret performance and a book reading?

Confusing.

No
I specifically said I doubt children would be enthralled with a cabaret show

As for your response

“Thats actually a different question (thus far your question has been why are they "obsessed" with kids/why do they do DQST).”

I have referred to the stereotyping through this entire thread

Ha, you've done an admirable job of dancing around the bleedin' obvious. Probably just easier to say yep thats pretty much it when I posted this an hour ago

So, now that we've got that sorted - how far would you like to take it? Should kids not see gay people or know they exist?

Humblest apologies :tearsofjoy:

I'll refrain from listing the multitude of issues I suspect you have.

What a word salad of garbage

No
I don’t think children would be engaged with an adult cabaret act

And not once have I used the word “gay”

So a multitude of references to derogatory females stereotyping you ignore, but conjure up a comment I’ve never referred to

I suggest you go back, read what I’ve written and get back to me tomorrow

You are clearly fraught
