This may have already been asked but what are Shaun McKernan's chances of playing round 1?

Certainly didnt do his chances any harm on Friday night. It will be tough to squeeze him in the best 22 as a forward with tippett and walker there, but if he continues the form on friday night for the rest of the nab cup, craigy will be forced to find a spot for him. Might start on the bench and be rotated through forward line/ruck.

Petrenko may be a better option at a similar price to Davis. Still questions as to whether or not he's a guaranteed starter for round one but looks like he'll be a play maker running out of the defensive 50. High risk, high reward.

Has Callinan falling out of favour?

He seemed to be in every team in your round 1 thread a week or so ago and now I've noticed he's missing in a few of the recent ones.

I don't think he's fallen out of favour, I think the hype has died down and people have realised that he's still a rookie and nothing is guaranteed until he's upgraded.

Having said that, I personally still expect him to play round 1 and for most of the season - we've acknowledged that we need a small forward, which he is (and a classy one at that) and he's harder than a coffin nail, we don't have enough of the sort of stuff that he brings to the team.

Hey guy

Just wondering about Vince. I had been tossing up between Cotchin or Martin for my 5th midfield spot but after a cull in defense some extra cap room become available and I can't resist Bernie.

How has be been traveling? Love how he plays and I think an uninterrupted year will bring big scores.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'll echo what cmndstab has said and caution picking Vince, he is at a very tempting price, however he hasn't really been on the track since Christmas, so I'd definitely take a wait and see approach. I certainly wouldn't jump without seeing him perform in some NAB challenge matches, if he gets any. At this stage, if I were you I'd stick with Cotchin or Martin and use the cash elsewhere, or find someone else of a similar price. I'm not ruling him out, I'd just wait and see with Bernie.

Hi everyone

I have andy ottens and kurt tippett and thinking of either van berlo or dangerfield

thoughts

Both Danger and VB should be better this year than last year, but are not going to be super scorers.

Danger's disposal efficiency is not yet beyond question so I'm assuming you're referring to DT, not SC.

Patty's disposal efficiency doesn't hurt his scoring as much as you'd think. For a bloke who only averaged 15 touches, he still averaged 70 last year in SC despite his low disposal efficiency. Champion Data have a pretty complex algorithm for calculating their scores, where a disposal in the forward half which misses a target wouldn't punished as much as one in the back half, for example.

Considering Patty would win the vast majority of his touches in the forward half, his poor disposal efficiency isn't such an issue. He also covers a lot of ground with his possessions, as well as ranking high with clearances, hard ball gets, inside 50's, contested marks and goals which all help jack up his score.

I've been super impressed by what I've seen of Patty so far this season, I think this may be the year that he takes that next step.

Re van Berlo, has shown in the past that he can find a bit of the pill, I probably wouldn't bother in SC, but could make for a good unique pick in DT.

A player that kicks a winning goal can be awarded 40 odd points yet a goal kicked a little earlier on in the game is worth the normal 12 points. I believe each goal is just as important as the previous because without that one you wouldn't be able to win the game yet it's awarded completely differently. The thing I also don't like about supercoach is they don't even show us exactly how the scoring system works, playing a game without the all the rules pretty much...

Anyways, I'm a DT person and SC players are not going to agree with that and it's pretty much and endless argument. :D

You can't seriously argue that a goal kicked when you are up/down by 10 goals is as difficult as a goal kicked with scores level and thirty seconds left in a match.

Dangerfield. Looked to have a big score in the NAB game.

Wondering whether he is worth having on my forward line. Pretty happy with my team at this point but I see Dangerfield being a very similar player to Colin Sylvia who is about 120k more. Will he play midfield all year? He only needs 20-25 touches to get a 90-100 imo because he will kick goals.

Otten is a must in any team imo.

Yeah but what about that goal kicked 5 minutes before that to bring the game into a goals reach of winning (or the first goal kicked for that matter)? Without this goal the winning goal wouldn't be a winning goal. They are all worth 6 points in the real game yet in SC they can be rewarded very differently. There are also momentum points and such with SC which make it even more complex to understand the proper scoring system (which we don't even know the full system).

Don't get me wrong, both games have their flaws but I perfer DT over SC as it's nice, basic and easy to understand.

I guess that's the question on everyone's lips. Last season many of us expected him to spend a bit of time in the midfield and apart from the start of the season, that didn't really happen. Whether that was due to a few concussions or not I'm not sure. I really expect him to be rotating in the midfield this season due to one less player on the bench meaning everyone is going to have to rotate more (players like Callinan and Porplyzia should also get a few stints in the middle) but whether it's anything more then that, I'm not sure. What we all saw of him in the first NAB cup match we would love to see every game from Danger where he is in the middle and even getting a few outside touches which is new for him but as we saw in the second game he spent most of his time up in the forwards.

At this point, the best thing to do would be to keep an eye on the reports coming out of Adelaide in the next few weeks to see where he played in the NAB cup challenge games (I don't think Adelaide made it throught to the next round of the NAB cup?) to get a better idea of what to expect.

Personally, I wouldn't have him very high up on my list of possible selections but still wroth considering/keeping an eye on nonetheless.

Hows Knights pre season going?
It was going well until mid-late January where he got a quad strain. After roughly two weeks off (doing light drills such as running etc) he played in the intra club match where he got a corky. That was the reason as to why he didn't play in Adelaide's first round of the NAB cup. I haven't read anything about him since but I would assume he would be over that by now (hopefully).
