That's the #1 most popular player locked in.

Haha, i thought the exact same thing after watching the display Nat put on tonight. Crazy kid! Looks to have bulked up considerably, and there are no signs the extra muscle is going to slow him down, which is a major plus.

Never really considered him until tonight, but i might select him purely for the fact he is most likely going to skyrocket in price and make me a nice profit in the short term. :thumbsu:

Nicnat? LOL

He'll avg a reasonable 70-75... sit on your bench and do nothing all year.

Come on he was versing Bellchambers.

Cox + Nicnat vs. Ryder + Bellchambers would have been more interesting. Do you just use Nicnat when Cox goes forward?

He had 105 DT points at 3qrt time, and NAB cup quarters are shorter than the official home and away matches.

His massive score didnt come just from hit outs- this guy plays midfield, lays tackles, and kicks goals.

Cox will probably be injured for most of the year anyway.
I wouldnt go jumping on the Nic Nat bandwagon just yet. The guys a freak and will be a gun but he wont be pulling those sorts of scores if Cox is in the side.

Was at the game, Naita is a freak. Laid a few crunching tackles and kicked one great goal. Dont expect this kind of performance every week though, no Cox makes a huge difference in his TOG.

One things certain for NicNat... he's taken his ball handling skills to the next level. :footy:

That post match interview was hilarious.

Almost two minutes of watching nicnat play with his balls in front of like... the whole of Australia... (Well let's say 500 thousand to be reasonable)

1) Would you really select NicNat on your bench? Surely he must start?

2) Would you really not be content nor even happy as anything for NicNat (or any player) to improve from an average of 50 to an averaged of 70-75? Thats what kreuzer did in 2009 and he made plenty of cash.

Furthermore, NicNat showed last night, for the first time IMO that he is actually able to rack up a bit score. Sure he kicked 3-4 goals, sure Cox wasnt there and he wasnt playing against the best opposing rucks - but just to show the potential upside is promising.

He has a lot of potential to follow other second year rucks, and significantly improve IMO.

with cox in the side i would think nic would be playing upforward and racking up the goals??? tell me im wrong.
or vise versa cox will go forward and nic will do wat he did last night.

Well said Lakey, we also get to have another look at him next week against better ruckmen and perhaps with Cox depending on his abdominal strain.

I don't think it's realistic to expect him to kick 4 every week - however i would expect him to tackle as hard. 8 tackles a game wouldn't be unrealistic IMO.

the latter rounds of the nab cup/challenge will let us know more - partciularly when cox is easing his way back in (pun intended)

hopefully port win and we get to see nicnat against brogan - will be a good test for him against an animal

This has really thrown a spanner in the works.

I've been a lock on Dean Cox all pre-season. Now NicNat pulls out this performance and has got me thinking.

I'm not getting Naitanui. With Cox back in the team, he'll play 50% game-time. The problem is so will Cox.

Neither will rest forward. THey already have Hansen, McKinley, Lynch and Kennedy fighting for those spots. Perhaps they will plug holes down back but I don't see NicNat fitting that role well.

I still think Cox will be good, but now he's probably 20 point a round lower. The fans will tear down the ground if Naitanui is not given game-time...but will do the same if Coxy is not given game-time.

You can't expect this every week from Naita. I can't back him into my team just yet. HE'll be inconsistent.

But then who do you get???

- Mitch Clark will drop off a little bit with a backup ruckman in the side.
- Hille and Ottens are big risks
- Petrie is going forward and will have bad delivery
- Brennan will not ruck anymore

Leaves Sandilands, Tippett and Mumford for me to chose from...or just give up on the rucks as been a big scoring area and take the punt on Warnock, Skipper and Lobbe as my last 3...then get Riewoldt up forward from Dangerfield.

can't see either Cox or Nat resting forward with Lynch, MCkinley, Kennedy and Hansen all fighting for the tall spots already...and Le Cras up there as well.

I would think its too top heavy...and you want to open it up for Kennedy and Le Cras.

yeah but they not gonna rotate cox and nat from the bench

Dave how do u go past sandi? if fit he will be rucking all year

Hansen absolute spud, depth player at best,
Mckinley more of a tall FP then a KP player, could see them resting Nat or cox in the square with Lynchy leading out from ff and Kennedy at CHF

kennedy is CHF pure and simple - lynch will be FF

Naitanui will rest forward and although 200cm - doesn't make it top heavy due to what we all saw last night.

He isn't a pack mark - he is a ground level player like a betts or thomas. so no issue seeing him crumb in the pocket

Aah i See, i mistyped have corrected the mistake

Agree.
McKinley is injury cover.
Hansen has been overtaken and is WAFL bound (similar fashion to Lonergan from Geelong).
The three tall forwards will be Lynch, Kennedy, Cox / Nic Nat. With Cox and Nick Nats ground work, they'll be bloody hard to match up on.

Agree with above, Hansen is a disgrace.

My thoughts would be Cox to ruck 70%, NN 30%.

Cox to rest forward 10-15% as 3rd tall with Q and Kennedy.

NN still not relevant this year but another performance or 2 like that from NN will cut into Cox's TOG.

Also NN a marquee player so will be given opportunities.

The more I look at WC's list the more improvement I see. I don't think they will be easy to beat at home this year.

We get to see at least another NAB game from Nic Nat. Looks like the next Buddy, except in Ruckman form.

I am starting to think that theres every chance that Nic nat and Cox might share the ruck load equally at 50-50 if Nic Nat continues to show good form during the pre season particularly due to the fact that Cox wont go into the season proper with a decent pre season under his belt and that may lead Worsfold to ease the load of ruckwork for Cox.
I currently have Cox and Kruezer as my rucks but i am also considering changing that to Sandilands and Mcintosh for what would be around $14k more but would give me 2 rucks that would probably ruck most games for about 70-75% of the time
