I am thinking about the NBA, whether they call games remotely. I do not think so. Albeit games not covered on national cable are called by local commentators who are, wait for it, at the game.

I follow the NHL and the local AT&T Sportsnet commentators travel with the team on the road, sometimes for 6 / 7 game road trips.
Deeerrrrrrwayne and the Foxtel callers cannot even do a single night away or better still fly in that morning and fly back that night.
A true professional would want to be at the event to get a proper feel of the atmosphere and call the game correctly.
That said Deeerrrwayne ain't the bolded part above, just a hack amateur who thinks he is one.
It must save Fox an absolute boatload in the travel and accom costs and most casual viewers probably dont even realise.
Fox appear to be cost cutting fairly hard especially across the sports channels. Not having the WTC final or the Ashes (and ch9 NOT showing the first couple of hours in HD, at least in perth) is ****ing criminal.
