Ricky Nixon suggesting he will be traded. Rumour is to Hawthorn.
It might have been something we discussed earlier in the year, but with the emergence of Sicily down back playing the same kinda role (and at a higher standard than Roberton over the 2nd half of the season), I doubt we'd be bringing in a 29 year old to the club to play a role we now have covered.

Roberton is 26.

lol Sicily averages 7 free kicks against as a defender.

I made a mistake regarding the age. The rest stands true and I'd be surprised if we were interested in him when we have Sicily playing the same role, but better on average over the 2nd half of the season.

Lmao how?

I take it you don't watch Saints games. Robbos supercoach averages dipped mildly through the second half, which is what I assume you're judging him off, but he was still his super reliable self. One of the best help defenders and intercept markers in the league. His round 23 game against the Tigers was below his own standards but he wasn't the only one. The rest of his second half games were great, he just wasn't getting as many easy sideways possessions as he was in the early half of the season when we were controlling play much better.

Still way better than Sicily lmao

If you take the Carlton game out of the equation, Sicily was getting 28 touches and 11 marks a game, #1 in the AFL for intercept possessions and #2 for contested defensive marks. Robert had a better year, Sicily had a better 2nd half of the year. You don't have to like it or agree, but it's how it went down.

I'll take a incredibly consistent and reliable second half of a season over an enigmatic one, where a lot of free kicks against and arguments with teammates were involved.

And I'd rather take our 2nd half of the season over your 2nd half of the season :) arguments and free kicks and all.

You'd be an average list manager then.

I'd take Roberton now, Sicily if he can string together a full season. Like you said, he was inconsistent up forward and even though he showed some consistency for half a year down back, it's yet to be proven he can maintain it for a season.

Regardless, I'd love him at the Hawks if we were going to lose Birchall.

Sicily or gunston will more than likely be moved forward next year. I'm sure we'd be into Roberton but just don't know what we could give up. Our second rounder is too late and there's no chance we give a 2018 1st for him, even if it involves getting something back

Conversations between Roberton and Hawthorn would've happened earlier in the year, however a re-think was had in regards to requirements of the list once a few of the Hawthorn kids fulfilled key roles in the backhalf, so it remains to be seen if Wright still thinks Roberton has a role, or some one else has stepped up into it already.
