That's what you took from that?So because GWS are bursting at the seems he believes everyone else should be?
I think what we can take from that is that Sheil is staying at GWS, but Lobb is going. Probably to Richmond.More takes

Not to sure about P.A but hawks could be offering him upwards of 1 next year.Is Shiel really gunna be paid $1.0 million ?
I know he's not a FA but free agency has kind of introduced the concept of offering contracts that even contracted players are finding hard to refuse. Wingard another contracted player reportedly being offered 1mil a year. Not to sure about P.A but hawks could be offering him upwards of 1 next year.
Very true and most cases money now is better then money later.I know he's not a FA but free agency has kind of introduced the concept of offering contracts that even contracted players are finding hard to refuse. Wingard another contracted player reportedly being offered 1mil a year.

Say offer a contract thats fontloaded but add a stipulation that if the cap rises so does the contract equivalently for the later years.
That way the player knows they will be on a good wicket each year and also get some extra cash up front.
Anyone know when GWS exit interviews are? Assuming the next few days. Might give some clarity on Shiel and Setterfield.
I doubt we would offer shiel our highest contract. So not close to 1.2 p.a.Its funny how things change
Clarko was against paying dusty 1.2, but is happy to pay similar for a far far inferior footballer.
A year is a long time in football.

Only Saints are dumb enough to offer 1.2mil. Lunacy.
Will play for silverware at the hawks on 750k ish
Don't panic. Swapping the Shiel coin for McEvoy coin does not address any supposed salary cap issue. What would be the point?Did I just read a first round pick and McEvoy for Shiel!!??
Jesus... he’s a decent mid... but... you’re kidding.
Dylan is gone. That's what you took from that?
Lol ok....

According to who?
Barrett and Tom Browne? The guys who need to be constantly publishing speculation to ensure they remain in a job?
Nearly every club is under salary cap pressure. I am just surprised that you think that our staff haven't been planning for this and have suddenly seen it fit to consider trading one of our best players (IMO our best and most important player).
He's seen as gettable though and plenty of teams needing to improve, also there seems like a trend towards building a core and surrounding them with low paid role players. You're kidding right. There's at least 5 players on your list that I'd place above Shiel in regards to importance and quality.
Shiel arguably isn't even in the top 30 midfielders in the competition.

I understand the interest, he is a quality player and I'd be happy if he ended up at Hawthorn. My post was in response to the notion that Shiel is the Giants best and most important player. He's seen as gettable though and plenty of teams needing to improve, also there seems like a trend towards building a core and surrounding them with low paid role players.
That's okay. We don't have to agree. But having seen every game my club has ever played, I'll back my judgement. Shiel is our best and most important player. You're kidding right. There's at least 5 players on your list that I'd place above Shiel in regards to importance and quality.
