He is 25 turning 26. His age profile is perfect for those in a window.

Heppell had an average year - you happy with pick 14 for Dyson? Same age - both AA's & 2018 similar stats.

When your trading 1st round picks, you really want a potential 10 year player. Pick 14 and a 2nd round is more than fair, for some one his age.

Brendan Goddard same thing. Didn’t go to Carlton after the saints

Steele Sidebottom ans Beams both essendon fans have stayed with their club.

Cyril Rioli before he was drafted said he If he could go to any club it would be essendon. Didn’t try and leave the hawks to come to essendon.

Jack Billings family still buy essendon memberships and he hasn’t tried to come to us.

Once you’re immersed in football culture you often forget your passions as a kid. You make the choice that suits your needs whether it financial or on field success or both.
True.

Though, do you know what his dog's name is? It's Juddy.
You know who has been pitching him? Juddy.

Also add to that, that by most reports Ess/Hawks have offered him around 800k while Carlton have offer 1m and StK 1.2m. StK and Carlton also have better chips to trade to GWS.

There's a lot of water to go under the bridge. He hasn't decided if he is leaving yet. All of this may be moot.

I am fairly confident of landing him IF he leaves, but it ain't a done deal.

It’s the same as all players.

Consideration #1 is cash and length of deal.

When / if multiple clubs come in with similar offers he’ll consider things like role, the coach, the team and it’s prospects, facilities etc.

But none of that overrides the cash thing because the way the AFL works, any of the 18 clubs can come up with a story as to why they’ll be winning a flag in the next 5 years.

Clubs you supported as a kid means **** all.
Pretty much spot on. Except if the offer is from the players current team. Then loyalty get trotted out as well.

$800-$900K PA sounds about right for him. $1.3mil is way excessive for someone who is clearly not elite and is already in his prime years.

Will all come down to just how much cap space teams like us and Carlton have though.

If we have a crazy amount to spare then paying Dylan crazy-overs won't be such a big deal.
We do. Apparently something north of 3m.

I hate to say but if St Kilda offering 1. 2mio and you guys 1mio, who wouldn't take St Kilda. Carlton may have more potential but an extra 200k a year is pretty good.

Especially if Saints also get Hannebury.

A midfield group going forward of Shiel, Steven, Hannebery, Ross, Steele, Gresham, Acres, Billings and Hunter Clark etc certainly wouldn't be the worst going around.
