What are the details if this 2 million dollar cap problem you mention?
We actually have an appallingly unsuccessful record trading with the Hawks. Perhaps it's because your club is also silly enough to think we'd trade Shiel and Scully for a first round pick.

So the 2 mil is something that has been thrown around in the media.

Shiels & Scully for a first rd possibly 2 was a suggestion that more than 1 pick would be needed so it might as well be this years first & a future first.

I apologise if it wasn’t clear enough.

To infer that the hawks trading profile is silly.... sorry mate. We’ve traded ourselves into a position of a 12 month re build & back in the top 4.

Scully & Shiels out of your cap, I would suggest, is 1m straight up.
So reviving 2x first rd picks, a ruck & that rucks full 2019 payment *200-300k??** would be pretty enticing with 800k to shuffle, easily done, if the 2m cap problem is real & the possible sanctions from the AFL if it’s not rectified.

Would there be better deals out there? Probably.

It would certainly give GWS flexibility early to do further trading & secure the likes of Cogs & Kelly before 2019 starts.

But hey.. What do I know

I'll just pick a random B grade player from Essendon, lets say Zaharakis.

Comparing just basic stats of their 2018 season, O'meara is no better than Zaha actually he is considerably less of a player than him and imo Zaha is only a B grader, maybe I was being too generous with O'meara, he is more along the lines of C+ if Zaha is a B.

Looks like O’Meara had a better year than your only AA squad member

Not bad for a C+ player. Zaha must have had a bad year, or something wasn’t brought up, being a B player. I’m sure that all will be explained.

Why is Jaeger being talked about here? Guy is an absolute gun and will be an All Australian next year, but he bears bot relevance to Shiel and our impending cap disaster.......

So what are the details of the $1 million dollar cap problem then?

So there is no issues with the salary cap at GWS?

If you have already explained it my apologies. As it’s a big thing in the media in the past couple of weeks that GWS has shot themselves in the foot regarding it’s cap space.

Fair point, Just the usual Essendon and Hawthorn fans fantasying over who Shiel would complement more in team structure. So in layman’s terms with politically correct terms a fantasy urination contest.

If Shiel leaves, I hope he makes the right decision for himself. If he stays, then I wish him all the best.

So now we get to the part of the conversation where an outlandish claim is made, and others have to disprove it.
Frankly I dont believe you've you've got any idea. To then draw conclusions is just trolling.
On a board which is meant to be about serious trading discussions, it shouldn't be allowed.

Why so defensive?

You are right, along with many other people I have no idea to GWS’s salary cap, other than what is being reported. The way you post, it appears that you do have some knowledge, rather aggressively I might add. So I wasn’t asking you to disprove anything, I was curious as to why you believe something, that is not trolling, unfortunately, you can think what you like.
Secondly where by asking questions is it drawing conclusions? Asking questions is seeking information, and being able to draw and make logical decisions and conclusions, as to what is factual and what isn’t.

I understand the emotion of losing favourite players to other clubs, unfortunately when this competion turned professional, everything became more business than club.

So if your offended, about the entire concept, don’t bother replying. If you do wish to discuss the topic rationally, than I am interested in your views and opinions.

I'm not defensive just pointing out the obvious troll. Changing direction now just means your a troll without integrity.

I've always found personal insults dont really help an argument. Perhaps that epithany us in your future, but I think not.
“You goose” is definitely personal as it looks as though my post was beyond you anyway.
If there was ever a troll with nothing better to do than prod & poke for the sake of it it’s you mate.
I had a quick Squizz at your profile & actually laughed out loud at the actual amount you have posted in your time.

Lol

Thank you for your insight regarding my integrity.

I’ll now take your opinions has being emotionally based rather than factual. So thank you for clearing that particular issue.

what a troll

To be honest I'm reading a lot about hawthorn and Carlton but the club leading the race for shiel is flying largely under the radar.

As it stands as of tonight there is a fair distance between Essendon and the other suitors. Fact.

Ultimately gws hold the power but shiel's preference is essendon. It would be fair to say that Devon smith hasn't hurt.

Mate shut up, you have no idea just like you had no idea when you were adamant Lever wouldn't be going to Melbourne.

You've got no sources.

No way we'd get ourselves in this position. Sounds like some people in the media making things up.

Thank you.
For the most part, GWS does come off as a smart and well organised club, that I did find the reports confusing.
If reports are correct that GWS is willing to put Shiel up for trade, then it sounds like they are preparing for the future and getting what they need now, by trading up so to speak.
If the reports are wrong, and he is not up for trade, then this thread is a dead issue!

I would love him at the Hawks, but if it’s not meant to be it’s not meant to be!

Good luck with the finals

Thanks. We need a lot of luck as we keep getting injuries :(

Of course. But that didn’t stop the media saying that Carlton was one of the front runners for his signature.

Only point was that even if we seem “3rd” now, we were in that position last year too. So it doesn’t mean too much at this stage.
Carlton are linked by dumb asses in the media all the time, SOS goes around and tries to see what he can shake free and inevitability very few want to sign up for a 5 year haul to a flag attempt.

Go through our rumour thread last year and you will find we ruled out Saad and Stringer early on and they were never realistically a chance and the only rumour we had of getting smith was through the media not our reliable posters who only ever stated we were trying to get a package deal with him/scully but never hopeful it would get over the line.

Shiel there has been no news on for a month or so, latest was he is going to leave at the end of next year and is open to moving this year. Don't expect to see any real news on him prior to GWS exiting finals.

Fair enough.

To be honest, the chatter on the Essendon boards seem to have gone quiet on Shiel. More people leaving towards Shiel going to Carlton.

Great pick up for you guys if that’s the case.
