Not arguable at all. Clear No.3 offie in the country.Rocchiccioli? Arguably number two but another right arm offie unfortunately.

I like the idea of using different players in each test.Could see this for the first test:-
Khawaja
Head
Labuschange
Smith
McSweeney/Konstas
Webster
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Kuhnemann
Second test:-
Kwahaja
Head
Labuschange
Smith
McSweeney/Konstas
Webster
Connelly
Carey
Boland/Starc (only playing 1 quick)
Lyon
Kuhnemann
Call me old fashioned but we might want to see the deck before we select the team.

1st Test
1 Head
2 Konstas
3 Labuschagne
4 Smith
5 McSweeney
6 Webster
7 Carey
8 Starc
9 Lyon
10 Kuhnemann
11 Boland
2 main spinners & 4 part-time spinners should be plenty.
2nd test swap Lyon for Murphy as both needed to bowl plenty of overs. Would also bring in Connolly in the 2nd test.
Given we have already made the ICC World Championship & needing to turnover our team over the next couple of years... we should be using it as an opportunity to try new players. They'll go with Uzzie not Konstas IMO, but otherwise I reckon that's the side that will roll out.
I doubt Lyon would get swapped out at this stage of his career.

We should absolutely be giving Murphy more opportunities, given we may need him to takeover Lyon soon, so imo should get at least 1 test.
Also, Konstas not Khawaja is the future, so should play at least 1 test to appreciate subcontinent conditions.
I said at the time Marsh should have been replaced by Webster for the 2nd Adelaide Test, given he couldn't bowl. What we could or should do and what we will do are two different things. Whether we like it or not the results say our selectors do a decent job.
I was talking about Connelly, as was Tugga.K
Swepson really went to that next level when he barely played a game for 2 years to run gloves

They may not have gotten everything right but i think they did a solid job. Made the tough but correct choice with Konstas before the MCG. Probably should have pulled the trigger earlier with Webster but did it in the end.I said at the time Marsh should have been replaced by Webster for the 2nd Adelaide Test, given he couldn't bowl.
The selectors waited til the final test. Had they failed to make that change, we likely would have drawn the series. Bumrah getting injured may have saved us too.
The big issue with continuing with Marsh is it put an extra workload on the other bowlers. Hazelwood broke down & Starc struggled towards the end too.
Yes we may have won the series, but we got a little lucky & by no means did the selectors get everything right.
We have a very old team & we need to make changes over the next couple of years & this tour is a great opportunity to try some new things.
Tail looks bloody shaky now that Starc is an average bat
Starc
Lyon
Murphy
Kuhnemann
or if we play 2 seamers
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Kuhnemann
Don't particularly like how bad the tail is when we are prone to collapses in spinning conditions, can't really do much about it though
I see three #11s. Aussie cricket badly needs a genuine slow bowling all rounder in the vein of Jadeja, Ashwin, any others? Look how many runs Lyon has left in the rooms not being able to contribute anything more than handy runs over all the time he has been our prime spinner. Warnie too tho he was a better bat.Lyon
Boland
Kuhnemann
Yep, it's not surprising though. This website is full of AFL fans who have the mentality drilled into them of constantly rejuvenating the side with youth, giving the first round draft picks opportunities early etc etc. There's some real pillock posts in this thread.
Sure, we hold every bilateral trophy, we're the world champs, we run the entire world.
But flogs are BORED and want to make wholesale changes for no reason at all.
We need a cricket board for people that aren't deadshits. A discussion forum of the gentleman's game should be the best of BF when we're talking test cricket, there are too many impatient flogs who have no concept of how hard cricket is, how good you have to be to get this far, and how you deserve every opportunity that you've earned.
Wish he'd lose the centre part.
This was Agar's job but he couldn't bowl with the red ballThis tour is meaningless re WTC so excellent chance to see the next gen in sub cont conditions. Konstas and Sween should definitely play the Test/Tests, Connolly possibly only white ball. I see his inclusion being to soak up the experience of hanging with the world champs on tour.
