Team total finished <100 posts for the second time this season, with 98 the final tally for us out of 219 posts in the entire Mt Buller thread. IMS' 39 and my 29 were the only two tallies to hit double digits, as we had a season low of 9 posters in the thread. There was no change in position from last round in the match threads totals, or team thread totals, ladder.

But this week against the Gumbies a whole 'nother proposition! I reckon we have the ability to get 12 posters in the thread for a combined effort of 150 posts. We've already hit those targets multiple times this season, and the finals is a much more important ball game, so the target set would be a credible performance which would go nicely with our big Gumbies win. Carn Hawks!

Well folks, after a disappointing end to S16 which I refuse to acknowledge, it is time to move onto other things!! Including complete alcoholic wipeout at the East Side end of season awards.

The B&F count will begin today and include every award for Season 16.

Considering the only albums I care for is Queen's Greatest Hits 1, 2 and 3, I'd say that provides a good record of where I am at. SO yes!

The Hawks opened the season hosting the Fighting Furies after a strong preseason competition that seen the Hawks reach the final. Much of the game build up included much discussion around why Fyfie_ was a member of the Hawks rather than the Furies, discussion about the Hawks flawed recruiting of Jobe and Juggs and the internal woes after Dagless overruled the named squad (due to an IMS error).



The game itself was an absolute cracker of a contest, both sides were into it early and at quarter time, the Furies took a one point lead, the second quarter saw the Furies bust the game open, a 5 goal to 2 second term saw the Tigers supporters go into half time with a solid lead. The third quarter followed this trend, the Furies booted 3 for the term to go into 3 quarter time with what looked to be a match winning 24 point lead, but the game was far from done, up stepped the Tarks and Harps show, when Karnezis_13 kicked a goal at the 21 minute mark of the final quarter, the Furies led by just 5 points. With both sides throwing everything at the game, it was Chezzalenko and HARPSichord that would make the difference, with a goal in the 24th minute, to steal the game away from the Furies.

Kicked four last week, should be nearing the 200 career goal mark.

But seeing as it's the Bombers we're playing this week I might even be a shot at getting to the 300 career goal mark by the end of the game.

Also, more testicles means more iron.

The Hawks walked into a week 2 match up against a side that now contained two former players, much of the early work in the game build up was directed at those two players in particular after they dragged the match thread down to their level, thankfully, Lunchlady Doris, Mr Eagle and Dagless were there to drag it back up again.



The game itself was another tight one from the opening bounce, both sides kicked off with 2 goals in the opening term, and 5 goals to half time as the Hawks went into the long break leading by the barest of margins.

The tight tussle continued in the 3rd quarter, 2 goals to the Hawks and 1.5 to the inaccurate Bombers saw the Hawks take a 5 point lead into 3 quarter time, but like the previous week, it was the final term that the Hawks did their best work, 3 goals to 1 in the final term saw the Hawks run out 14 point winners.

The Hawks first real big test for the season and in the match build up we were up for the challenge, Dagless, Mr Eagle, Karnezis and Chezz were all prominent in the build up, while the Gumbies focused entirely on the IMS & Clay match ups.



The game itself will go down as one of the strangest games that has ever been played, neither backline showed up at all and the game was the ultimate shootout. The Hawks opened up the contest with 7.0 in the first quarter, whilst the Gumbies kicked 5.4, this was followed up in the 2nd term, another 7.1 to the Hawks to go into Half Time at 14.1, but the Gumbies were hanging in there at 12.7.

If that wasn’t enough, the Hawks would pile on 8 goals in the 3rd term, whilst keeping the Gumbies to 4, a seemingly unassailable lead, but the Gumbies were not to be denied, the Hawks kept to 1 goal in a frantic final term, while the Gumbies kicked 7 to take an 8 point win.
