He's a Crow, i can't even remember him playing for the Blues, his impact at Adelaide has been enormous. It typifies the chaos Carlton have been in for the past dozen years or so.

Not talk shit and intimate throughout the year that he is a big chance of staying.
Not treat us like fools by saying he is undecided right up until the 11th hour with a shitlickers smirk pasted all over his face every time the question was posed(every 3rd day in the media here).
Not be a hypocritical bellend by chastising others for doing exactly what he ended up doing himself.
Not feed his own self worth by sticking his ugly head in front of the camera at every opportunity and on occasion those that didnt, knowing full well the interviewer was bound to turn the conversation on to his future movements.
Simply refusing to comment, knuckling down and playing good footy would have told the tale early and noone would complain and no fanfare would have been made. As such the entire years focus wouldnt have been
On him and the distraction the rest of the club had to suffer would have been avoided, especially after what had just happened the year before. But like the egotistical figjam that he is he had to play both sides because he just thrives on the attention and looks at us as just casual shmuck observers.
Prick has no understanding whatsoever as to the meaning of the words humility or grace.
Good player but.
The only bell end here is you.
It's attitudes like this that everyone else thinks Adelaide is backwards.
You'd be one of those supporters who booed him at the oval this year.
I moved states for my partner and I would do it again in a heart beat. But if the right opportunity arose for us like it did for him and his partner, we would go home to have a family too.
Time to stop these backwater views and move on.
This is a bit of a myth.
His early years at carlton were barren but from about 2009 onwards we had a pretty awesome midfield and we went through period where we played finals 4 times in 5 years. i would argue that what hurt reputation was sharing the forward line garlett, yarran and andrew walker
it's not about who's better it's about their roles. none of those guys are small forwards. even charlie cameron i think is more of a lewis jetta/brad hill type of player than a small forward. yarran and walker showed ability but spent limited time forward, but garlett shared the 50 with betts the entire time at carlton. At the Crows he's been sharing a forward line with Tex Walker, Josh Jenkins, Tom Lynch, Charlie Cameron and Mitch McGovern. All of whom I'd rate above Garlett and Yarren. Andrew Walker spent most of his career being wasted in the backline.
I will see Betts as more of an Adelaide player. I think success magnifies where players are associated. Having said that, Judd had little success at Carlton but will probably be remembered equally at best, or perhaps even slightly more at Carlton.Eddie Betts. Carlton Legend or Adelaide Lifer?
Just saw on AFL.com.au that Eddie has signed a new 3-year deal, with the tagline "Eddie Betts a Crow for Life".
What determines whether a multi-club player will be more loyal and associate himself with his original team, or his second (or third) team?
Is it no. of years? Finals? Awards? Friends?
It can't just be the second team because Sam Mitchell ain't gonna be calling himself an Eagle when it's all said and done.
In my head Eddie is still mainly a Blues player, so I wonder if the fans' perspective is relevant here. Judd Blues too.
Henderson I see as Geelong though.
Hmmm
Of course I'm biased, but the bolded part is a big reason why I'll always consider Judd as mostly an Eagle.I will see Betts as more of an Adelaide player. I think success magnifies where players are associated. Having said that, Judd had little success at Carlton but will probably be remembered equally at best, or perhaps even slightly more at Carlton.
It's interesting that you mentioned Henderson. He's only played one year at Geelong, but like Danger, there was that feeling of a homecoming which exacerbates it somewhat. Hendo still needs to spend another season or two as a Cat before being remembered as one will be fait accampli.
I see Betts more as a crow.
Unsure whether it's my Melbourne bias but I see Jeff Farmer more a Dee than a Docker and I'm pretty sure he considers himself the same even though he played 118 with Melb and 131 with Freo
Likewise with Big Ivan, who despite spending about half of his career at the Crows, only truly established himself as one of the premier ruckmen of the competition after coming over to the Tigers.
Yeah fair call.Yup. A Dee for sure.
I feel the same bias re: Wanganeen
Yeah fair call.
Wanganeen a tough one because he won flags at both and was also captain at PA.
But a Brownlow at Essendon evens it out too.
How many games at each club??
I find that hard to believe given he's carved us up a few times with them.I forgot he even played for Carlton
I cbf looking up the stats but Milne would be up there I reckon.I don't care if he's torn Essendon apart in the past. I'm a big fan.
A bit off topic, but f*k it; is he the best small forward of...say... the last 20 years?
I cbf looking up the stats but Milne would be up there I reckon.
Good call, definitely up there. Milne was excellent for sharking goals but I can't help but feel his career tally of 574 flatters him a touch. Not as good defensively as Eddie and went missing in big games. Betts ahead for mine.
