It's local football, don't compare AFL footy to the EDFL and what players do at AFL level. He made a dill of himself (Barling), showed he was all about the man and not the footy.

I agree with the quality of players in GV's two's, some fair players there that would be walk up starts in some of the A grade clubs. Would be interesting to know how many of them are home grown players in the GV two's?

I'm Newsflash.......my news is good news, Good Night.

Newsflash, i bet you don't have many mates, actually i can guarantee you don't have any mates and your parents don't want anything to do with you!
We can all see you just love to go against the grain and hope that we all continue to reply to your posts you muppet... Here's some advise, take your left hand off the keyboard and take your right hand of your old fella and give us all a spell....

Agree with this.

Newsflash, Marby won fair and square. The pivotal match up of the day was Barling vs Lucas. Barling kept Lucas to two goals and Marby took home the cup. Enough said.

You just sound like you have sour grapes. GV just weren't good enough on the day and fell into Marby's contested game style which was never going to win them the game. They didn't have the hunger for the contest that marby had. Congrats Marby on Back to back. Impressive effort.

Can anyone from GV confirm whether Lucas did carry an injury into the game?

Deepinsidefifty, you mentioned you knew where Lucas might be coaching next year, do tell?

Whilst I didnt go to the game, I listened to the commentary on North West FM and by all accounts it is exactly as you said Silly Money. Marby played their brand of contested football and played the game on their terms not allowing Greenvale to get much run through their midfield and found it difficult to rebound out of defence. These have been two of their strengths all year. Marby clogged it up and created stoppage after stoppage which suits their game style.
As far as the Lucas / Barling match up is concerned, I did hear Mick McGuane comment on the treatment that he had been getting and that umpires did not do enough to protect him. I recall Mick saying that Lucas needs to decide whether to just wear the attention or give one back and risk getting 6 weeks. As we all know, Lucas never belted anyone in all his years of AFL so I cant see him starting now. Overall, there are boundaries in place and it is the responsibility of every player out there, especially in GF's, to push those boundaries to there absolute limit. Barling did that so I have to say it is a win to him.

Laughable....Barling's claim to fame on washed up ex AFL flag/over 200 game champion, "I played on S.Lucas in the 2010 EDFL grand final one day, l didn't get a kick but l poked and elbowed him in the back all day".

Couldn't beat Lucas with skill or footy smarts, only with cheap tactics and antics. Credit to Barling, he has his medal and one day he can sit down and tell this grand children, "l played on the famous Scott Lucas and tried to bash him, l ended up in the gutter like a homeless man at one stage but we won". I doubt he will then go on tell them he cant kick and lacked the footy smarts of the game......
I think you are missing the point here. Do any of us know what the instruction to Barling was from Holland. Did Brodie tell him to play on Lucas but expose his ageing legs and run off him and try to create out of defence? Somehow I do not think so. I am fairly certain that Brodie asked him to sacrifice his own game to ensure that Lucas did not have an impact on the game. There is no boubt he did this and pushed the limits in doing so but you know what, if the umpires don't pull him up then it is all legal. The onus is on the umpires to stamp it out. They didnt - win to Barling.

Heard a rumor that Aberfeldie are very keen on Lucas as Playing Coach.

Also Greenvale need a clean out of 6-8 players as well as a new coach for them to improve again next year.

Speaking of coaching moves - heard Brodie holland is off to Heidelberg and Anthony Rock a big chance to replace him at Marby. Interesting to see if any players go off with him.

any truth to the rumour that alan faraj will be returning to greenvale next season. there was talk that the jets could have used him in the forward on the weekend....

No need to get so personal, have l got under your skin with my opinion and Barling? My parents love me dearly and l had a fantastic childhood. Back to the footy now, lets not throw mud around, thats boring.
I would start to worry about MP and the next 5years and where you boys will be!

Certainly has. But apparently has a soft spot for the jets and with the way they fell down up forward on the weekend it wouldn't surprise me if he landed back there.

Would be interesting to see if he lands back there. GV is one club that honours there contracts with players, coin will not be drying up there anytime soon.
Pekes brothers were a big miss on Sunday, they could of been the difference. A good preseason and they should be right to go in 2011.

Barling >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pekes brothers.

Barling >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pekes brothers.

Kidding yourself. Barling wouldn't go near the Pekes boys knowing full well they would return with fire. Barling knew Lucas would't fire back as he isn't that type of footballer or person. Doing what Barling did, wasn't tough. Forms of toughness is running back with the flight of ball, pushing your body to the limit(gut Running) not taking cheap shots and pushing your opponent off the field. Its clear Barling couldn't beat Lucas with skill, that is my point.
MP won and Barling has the medal, end of story. Next topic.

They should have a look at Jason Eagles, has dominated the GVFL for Shep Utd playing full forward and would be a good fit if they could convince him to play footy in Melb.

Surely someone is going to sign Grainger from West Coburg, he is too good to play B Grade. There are quite a few of the WC players that should be looking to continue to play A grade in particular Andy Nicholson & Robbie Hudson,

Grainger to Hoppers!!

What about NewsFlash too? former WC 2's player, pretty solid/round frame and has 19 different log ons for bigfooty + has plenty of time for training as she aint got much of life!!!!!!!!

Thought I heard Matt Pillios concede towards the end of the broadcast on Sunday, that MP would be losing about 6 players, next season. Did not specify which 6, or their ranking. Could be a planned cull, or signs of other issues????

Their forward line functioned quite well on Sunday.......in the reserves, and that is about the only place he would play at GV.
