You seem to be completely missing the point mate. What people are saying is that for a lot of kids if they are not able to play under 18s footy at the club they have played their entire career at then they will not play at all.

Why should kids not be allowed to play under 18s in a second grade competition for the club they love simply because other clubs can't run a sustainable juniors program?

this.

its a proven fact that kids in under age footy want to play with there mates, which deep down is what the game is all about. this competition(div 3) is a massive win for all the kids who now get to play every week instead of just quitting footy altogether

You didnt answer the question! do you think that these kids would become better players if they played in the A grade compition instead of playing in the 3rd division?

Also does the TAC have a zone rule?

If they can't get a game in the A grade team at their current club, why would they get a game in A grade at another club. And what does it have to do with anything, as I have said these kids want to play with their mates at their club, why would you want to deny them this?

Also I have no idea what the TAC Cup has to do with anything.

You do realise a lot of young blokes play footy for a bit of fun and to spend time with their mates, rather than to make the AFL.

I'm not quite sure what you are on about here. The preceding posts to this one clearly state that players would rather play at their club with their mates in Div 3 than play at another team in Div 1. So it is irrelevant whether they would be better players if they played Div 1. I think it is good to see the juniors purely playing for the love of the game and the love of their club.

Anyway, can't wait for this weekend, the off season has been too long.

I have had a look but can't find it anywhere, has it been confirmed where Brodie Holland is playing in 2011, lots of rumours going around but nothing confirmed anywhere. Is he still at Marby or gone?

Brodie not playing anywhere in 2011, he has 3 kids under the age of 1 to look after, the herald sun reported the other week the twins recently born were had some sort of illness when born but are okay and the kids are Brodie focus.

Good to see the abers trio backslapping each other again.

Succinctly, these kids playing div 3 by the age of 18 are most likely playing for their last season. If not playing at the club of 10 or so years, they wouldn't play at all. An example like prophetic's is not sustainable, and simply speaking, you would curtail 100 kids from a game a week. And in junior football, the premise of the game IS for kids enjoyment. Anything else and people are kidding themselves.

Exactly, it would probably be their last season of footy. You wouldn't expect them to drop a grade to continue playing and why shouldn't the big clubs get one more year of fees out of them.

Come and play for Marby this year, could be playing in 3-peat premership side.

Haha, unless you have a club 18 I ain't going to be getting a game.

That raises an interesting point actually, has there ever been a clubbies type comp in the EDFL? A lot of players are missing out on games altogether and I think it's time that the EDFL gave it some thought.

Great to hear the EDFL & the clubs have agreed on the criteria for the new Division 3.
Effectively the B Grade now Div 2 will play each other once in 2012 and then split into two divisions with 8 clubs in div 2 & 6 clubs in div 3 playing out the rest of the season. There will be three final series in 2012. If for any reason a club falls over or goes to another league the current status will prevail.
Pretty good result I would have thought, unless you are one of the bottom six..

The same as the NFL did in the first year.

Begs the question... will we one day see the EDFL and WRFL merge, to create a 4 Division competition (similar to the Eastern Footy League)?

i`d like to see that would be more competitive games but a little more travel....but only the seniors...the WRFL juniors are terrible.

doubt it would ever happen though

Too right Prophetic. Kept me in the game for a couple of more seasons. Loved it, however I think it is far better suited to the VAFA setup. However, I think the concept of getting netball affilliated with the EDFL has far more merit.

It is good in theory, get more girls around the club, gets more blokes to functions makes clubs closer, etc.

Not always the case, can certaily unsettle the fellas in the club.

Strathmore over the Jets by about 15pts. Strathmores decision making and field kicking the difference between the two sides.
